RE: Tires

The tires on my single axle dump truck are 12 years old . They passed inspection . Apple & Oranges. Even with "extensive" motorhome traveling, my sense is that your dump truck usage & mileage is WAY different from the road demands put upon your Kountry Star. IMHO, I just couldn't rest at night if MY coach sported 12 year old rubber.

RE: Almost $1,000 for new tires....

I am pricing tires now. I am being told it will be around $1600 for six. What brand do you all use? This will be my second set. I am told there is an "RV Tire" that has reenforced walls etc. Anyone know about those? Ford's E-450 chassis? Michelin XPS Ribbed - 225/75 R16s, A commercial grade tire - Load Range E Do shop around for availability & price.

RE: Disgusted with my Doren TPMS system

It's not my intent to derail or hi-jack this thread topic... ...but: How is the security with these various tpms? WHAT prevents 'rascals' from robbing you of the wheel sensors while the RV is parked? Just lurking & wondering - since I MAY be in the market real soon.

RE: Uses For 303 Aerospace Protectant?

I'm in aerospace and we most definitely do not use it. Care to share your thoughts as to WHY that is? Would YOU use it?

RE: 31' class C Tires

Aeejbe, Yup I did join the FMCA for the sole purpose of their Advantage program. I used to live in Van Nuys many moons ago. Left when I was 28 as I'm now 62 will I'll let you do the math. LOL & It is interesting that FMCA does not have any quotes for 16" tires. I joked that I felt discriminated against. BIG SMILE… Interesting that your (BIG SMILE) reaction to the FMCA / Michelin policy - no discount to 16 inch wheel owners was more jovial than mine. I did in fact unload on them about this particular case of "discrimination". It didn’t do much good except to elevate my own blood pressure! That being said, we very well may have a connection. It seems that our paths have indeed “cris-crossed”. Born in 1948, I moved TO Van Nuys from living most of my younger years in that large Motor City on the eastern edge of your state. THAT happened many moons ago when I was 24. Now, all that either of us wants out of (retirement) life is a decent set of rubber for our class C coaches without paying MORE THAN necessary, or being made to feel LESS THAN. Perhaps we'll meet up somewhere mid-way soon & toast each others final choice.

RE: 31' class C Tires

I joined the FMCA to get a quote using their Advantage program on Michelin's XPS ribs. I'll be interested to see what the savings are. Guessing it’s about time for me to weigh in with a wee bit of experience input. I wish you GOOD LUCK, John, if you’re looking for a break in prices from that Michelin Advantage Program. Please tell us you didn’t join FMCA with the single hope of gaining THIS particular benefit. I happen to be in the market right now for a 3rd complete set of tires for my 29 foot class C... ... A very heavy class C that’s gone thru it’s second set of the LTX225/75R16s. As a member of FMCA I’ll share with you that the M.A.P. will not be of any use to owners with 16 inch wheels. Their program seems only to favor Class A owners with coaches that have 19.5 inch wheels or larger. Oh do ask me how I know!! I too have HAD IT with the LTX Michelins that 1st came mounted when my coach was new in 2004. After blowout failures (plural) in 2008, Michelin made me an offer on a replacement set of (like) tires that I couldn’t refuse. And because of THAT gesture, I’m not willing to say too many bad things about the company, or about their customer service... ... But, here I am in February, 2013, after experiencing more tire failures (plural again). I will tell anybody who cares to heed, that the LTX series IS NOT your best choice for motorhome use! Michelin’s last shot at keeping me as a loyal customer is to get their act together & step it up with their production of the XPS Ribbed tires. These "commercial / RV grade" tires are on back-order nationwide (so I’m told) with an expected delivery time to the dealers towards the end of March. In the meantime, I wait, & I read reviews, & I respond to various tire threads, & I postpone extended road trips until... ...

RE: Horizon awning for Bigfoot Class C motorhome

I believe FIAMMA is the parent company that makes the awning for your Bigfoot. PM me for a contact name & address for their Customer Service Dept. Last year, they were quite helpful to me for ordering the correct PARTS for the encased awning attached to my 2004 30MH29G.

RE: Subscribing to General Forum topic`

For me to even start trying to figure it out, you would have to post exactly what happens when you clicked on the Subscribe link. Tom Same problem for me too! --- The 'Around the Campfire' Forum in particular. Twice I've checked the box "Send to my email address" any notification of "NEW REPLIES TO THIS TOPIC". I've received no messages to the particular topic, "Interesting Family History". Genealogy happens to be huge with me. My web browser is Firefox. My forum portal is via Woodall's. My email address is aeejbe@juno.com. I'll attempt to subscribe to this topic as well, requesting email notifications of "NEW POSTS" -- Just to see what happens. Btw, I am noticing a difference in the subscription-wording if perhaps that's a factor.

RE: Interesting Family History.......

There isn't anyone famous in my family tree. I started researching my fathers' side of the family, and not a one of them is anyone you have ever heard of. I have gone back on two sets of great grandparents. One starts in western New York in 1821, the other in Blair County, PA in 1840. I can track both families to western Illinois and then to western Iowa to my birthplace. It really is no big deal, they were all the hearty pioneer stock that made this country great! One side had ten children and the other 12 children, and all lived to adulthood. They were all tillers of the earth, raised livestock and built homes and towns across this country. God Bless the common folk!!!!!! You say you want some "famous" in YOUR family tree? This is an interesting thread that caught my eye since I am the self-proclaimed keeper of "The Tree" in my family. Interesting & satisfying work, though time consuming & sometimes quite FRUSTRATING. Please allow me to rant a little bit here. In the naming of children in SOME lineages, one has got to wonder: What were the parents thinking?? One particularly well known contemporary person ALWAYS sticks out in my mind. As a researcher, I would really love to go a few rounds in the ring with the likes of boxer, George Foreman. I’d bring along an iron pipe of course! What a nightmare he has created for future genealogists who may someday research his family. What an ego to have muddled up the lineage SO BADLY by naming five of his SONS - George! And, with the associated suffix numbering that is totally incorrect. In addition, he’s got two other DAUGHTERS with a variation of the name. Geez! I am so glad I haven’t found ANY link relating me to that bunch... ... YET!

RE: Switch under dash? (Power to/from ??)

Bought my used Class C motorhome 16 months ago and still don't know much about it. I don't recall what the toggle switch under the driver's side dash is. ?? Seems like it was something to do with electric power source ?? Thanks, Alan The switch under the dash of our previous coach was used to toggle the air horns on or off. I know this because I did it. Does your coach have custom installed air horns? - Either electric or air compressor activated?
