RE: FEMALE Solo Musician - ??? on Class B Van for FULL TIME?

Yes! Snap up the Rialta, thank goodness you have a second chance. Just think of the gas you can buy, now that you passed up the too-good-to-be-true newish Pleasureway.

RE: Get out and go... while you still can! (A whiney rant)

You have such a great attitude DesertCaptain, it was a pleasure to read this thread. Don't feel bad about not seeking a second opinion when a problem didn't get better. I did the same thing, and I'm a nurse.
My GP impatiently showed me the x-rays of a leg he diagnosed as sprained at the ankle and broken at the knee when I returned and said the ankle was not healing. Some time later, working as a camp nurse, colleagues insisted I see an orthopedic surgeon, who correctly diagnosed both breaks and stabilized my leg with surgery.
My GP has otherwise has been quick to listen and respectful, a skilled clinician will be that way.
Still, if things just don't seem right, get a second opinion. It may be the best money you spend, if it's out of pocket.

RE: Showering in RT

Lol, yeah, the question was legit, the thrill was real.
Reviewing suggestions as we'll be doing our spring annual boon docking triphere next week.
We will turn off the water heater & pump, shower navy style, and I just may see about a shower sack to supplement the shower. I really liked the tip to heat up the water 15 mins or so and not use the cold. Lots of good tips & advice, they really helped.

RE: San Diego to Texas, questions about route/camps etc.

You'll be traveling to TX when it's nice; welcome, and have a wonderful stay.
But wow, DesertHawk! I feel like taking the trip you just suggested. It was inspiring just to read.

RE: Abused/closed Campgrounds and people and trash

When lots of natural gas wells were going up here on top of the Haynesville Shale a couple of years ago, the trash on the side of the road fell like snow. Lots and lots of roadside trash. They're gone now, that swarm of locust, and it's just the usual level level of junk by the usual idiots.
Folks who litter may otherwise be fine hard working people, but simply disregard the countryside and others habitat because they're having a bad day, you think? Maybe we ought to be more tolerant...not.
Nacogdoches County is some of he prettiest RV area in America. Keep 'ur trash in 'ur truck!

RE: Showering in RT

Grrrreat Success! Now I'm wondering what took so long. Didn't heat water so this shower was bracing and quick.
Thanks everybody for the wonderful tips. In addition to chamois towels, I'm picking up a squeegee. The water poooled to the front right corner so I used my hands to move it to the drain (that almost was a killjoy) then soaked a small towel. The floor's clean ;-)
Boon dock sleeping in a city took some getting used to, dire straits made transitioning to the next level, showering, real easy.
Thanks! Y'all are the best.

RE: Coffee Makers Revisited

I've got good news for tea drinkers who have a Keurig. Just use an tea bag. I do this all the time, works perfectly. No accessory needed.
I have a first generation Keurig and only used it briefly then packed it away. Got it out a year ago and use it at home. Everybody got me big boxes of the little cups of coffee at Christmas and I'm swimming in them. But here I sit, in a Starbucks in Austin, charging my devices and warming up after a cool night. Oh well.

RE: Washing your B.

Quit using coin operated bays with high pressure wands. Water getting in around w indows, but resealed them so may be okay now.
Got a quote this past Wed for $150 for W&W. Son to do it after I return from this road trip to Austin.
Will look for boat soap. Thanks for that tip.

RE: Toilet needs no water or chemicals

Other options:
Double bag WM bags then use diaper genie or not and toss. Yes, like diapers.
Use a CareBag from Cleanis, a toilet liner bag @ the drugstore, lined or not with a Depends.

RE: Finding it increasingly difficult to park overnight

Surely private properties to boondock will shrink, with everybody blaming everybody else for their ills, then looking to sue, and lawyers eager to tap into deep pockets. Folks ruminating over wrongs, looking for payback, getting territorial on property that's not theirs. Who needs that?
I try to travel with some common sense by blending in, staying low, being prepared to move when boondocking (right or wrong, correct or mistaken). There are jackaxxes and sweethearts everywhere you travel, anywhere you live. The beauty of the B is moving on. Turn the key and hit the gas. Next stop will be better.

RE: Best Darn Retirement Party........

Wow. Sounds great!
Please consider posting your travels here or the Class B forum, us B owners would really be interested. You will find good info there also.
We stayed at the FamCamp on the AF Academy grounds one year, it was really nice. Our daughter has access, not us, or we would be looking for more of those camps.

RE: Groceries

I like to bag up dehydrated flaked beans and dehydrated flaked quinoa for an occasional meal. These items are found in bins at Whole Foods or a similar type store. They make quick, easy and super nutitious meals. These foods taste fresh when reconstituted and of course, travel well.
Doesn't sound too good, I know, but you'd be surprised.
