RE: Sprinter service???

We drove our first sprinter for 75000 miles and never had to have it towed. We have not had to tow our newer one yet as well. There are now more Mercedes dealers who are sprinter dealers and more are being added. I have heard before on this forum how nice it was when Dodge dealers serviced them. That was not our experience, many Dodge dealers did not service the sprinters and my experience with those that did was not very satisfying. At least three dealers we used only had one sprinter technicians per dealer and if they weren't working that day or loaded up we were out of luck. That is not the case with the Mercedes dealers we have visited. However as David said if you are concerned don't buy one.

RE: What Did You Do in your Sprinter Based RV Today?

Wow,just got a Safety Recall on our LTV Serenity II, seems the frosted lens on the license plate bracket does not meet DOT requirements and must be replaced by a clear lens. I feel much safer now!

RE: Roll Call Alaska 2013

Thank you, drove to Alaska in 2005 and 2010 including all the way to Prudhoe Bay. Don't have an itinery in mind after we get off AMH in Haines but will probably stay inland this year depending on the fire situation.

RE: Roll Call Alaska 2013

Just finished making reservations on the BC ferries and the AMH for this summer. Will go from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert, spend a couple of days and then to Juneau and Haines and then up into the Yukon and maybe further into Alaska. For sure Dawson City, the Yukon is one of our favorite places and may go over TOW or maybe just wander around and head back South.

RE: Sprinter Class B Lengths - and other ?? from a newbe

To the OP when we replaced our sprinter van that we had used for 6 years and 75000 miles we looked at two options, the Sportsmobile 110S LB and the LTV Serenity II. We chose the Serenity but only because we are in our 70s and ours needs have changed a bit. We now intend todo less touring and boondocking and more staying in one place. Had when kept on touring the Sportsmobile would have won out. Having. Things like a tankless hot water heater and fresh water tank above the floor level meant we could tour in winter without draining system. Touring to us meant wanting to have the vehicle requirements tailored to our needs including sprinter options such as the xenon headlights and controls on the steering wheel. We spent a lot of time at the Sportsmobile factory and while we like our Serenity(DW loves it) I still sometimes wish I had the Sportsmobile. The 10' height and 22.5' length never bothered us and its doubtful the 24' length would either.

RE: TPM and Era

We use a TST system, it alerted us when an inside dual metal valve extension failed. Had the TST set to alert if we lost 5 psi and it prevented a real problem as we were heading down the Siskiyous on I-5.
Later spent most of a day with Chuck (Tire-man) at Ridgecrest, ca having valve stems installed. He is quite a craftsman.

RE: Island/Pedestal Table: Ever use?

Just removed the table from our 2012 Serenity II and will replace it with a folding wooden table from Spiderlegs. Makes a big difference in usable space.

RE: Need B+ MPG, deciding between B & B+

Our 2012 LTV SerenityII averages 18.5 with less than 8000 miles on it, our first gen. Sprinter B averaged more than 24.1

RE: What did you do to your Class C MH today???

Stopped at Ridgecrest,Ca and had the Tireman replace my valve stems with solid stems after experiencing a sudden loss of an inside dual that had a valve extension installed by another tire shop. Worth the money when you experience a loss of inside dual when going down the Siskiyous on I5!

RE: 2 more questions about sprinters?

Actually Winnebago doesn't say they have a 5000# towing capacity, they say they have a 5000# hitch capacity which is no different than other manufacturers of C's on Sprinter 3500 chassis. As Handbasket stated hitch capacity does not indicate towing capacity.

RE: Washing your B.

I washed mine and used ICE. I now do the same with my LTV SerenityII, a class C. Maybe when I get a little older I'll hire it done.

RE: 5 cyc vs. 6 cyc class B

Congrats, assume you meant 2006/2007 airstream. Would suggest before you outfit it you weigh it, including each corner. We had an i5 sprinter, used to way it before any long trip after filling it with provisions, it never exceeded 8000#.

RE: 5 cyc vs. 6 cyc class B

We drove a 5 cylinder for 6 years and 75000 miles and now drive a LTV serenity on a 2011 chassis. The I-5 drove fine, didn't have the telescoping steering wheel and some other cabin refinements but worked very well. The 08. V6 is the same engine as the newer V6s but because of its different pollution controls it is not rated as high for both HP and torque as the newer V6, and in fact is rated the same in both areas as the I-5. So you probably should be more concerned about floor plan and coach equipment that each has to offer.

RE: Chassis question (Ford or Sprinter)

We bought our 2012 LTV Serenity( built on a 2012 Mercedes sprinter chassis) after driving a sprinter B for 7 years and 70,000 miles. We felt we needed a little more room but wanted to keep as much of sprinter handling and driver compartment benefits. Time will tell if we made the best decision for us, which is my point; it was a decision for us not someone else. We can have ours serviced either at Mercedes or Freightliner sprinter dealers. Mercedes and Freightliner both are adding sprinter dealerships or service capability at existing dealers. One advantage with our Serenity is it is no higher than a high roof sprinter van( 9'7") therefore will fit on any lift that a sprinter dealer uses to service the sprinter cargo van.

RE: Is Alaska biggest tourist trap?

I have been following this thread with a combination of amusement, interest, and a little sadness. We have flown to Alaska and explored parts of the interior, flown in to fish, cruised to alaska, driven our Rv twice (2005 &2010) including Prudhoe Bay. We were scheduled to depart again this August when a freak accident severed the tendon in my left leg. I would gladly pay for the " tourist trap" rather than a "rehab trap" and am looking forward to next Summer in Alaska!

RE: What did you do to your Class C MH today???

Loaned our new Serenity II to our local Mercedes dealer. They are advertising the addition of the Sprinter Line at the local Fair, didn't have any sprinters in stock, and since I am recovering from surgery to repair a severed tendon and can't use the Serenity for a while it is now featured along with four other new Mercedes cars in their display.
