RE: Toilet clogging up

x2 what do you mean by "clogging" The STUFF drops straight down into the holding tank. Are you filling the tank and then not having it empty or do you have the dump valve open all the time and expect it to flow down the hose. Or you could have the slug they made when drilling the hole for the drain and vent inside the tank and clogging the drain. I think we need more information.

RE: Failed Smog Test

Don"t know a thing about Oregon but in WI you don"t need to pass a smog test after 20 years. And most states use OBD only and yours did not have one. My 1985 F350 460 burnt off the air injector tubes on the right side and we ended up removeing ALL of the emission junk. both pumps, air injection, more vacummn hoses , egr. everything. Ford never knew they could build an engine that ran so fine. Like a watch. And the MPG went WAY up Check and see if a vehicle that old needs a smog test.

RE: electric power in canada 120v ac or different

I believe all the differance is the heater itself. Change the element. The relay and everything else should bee 12vdc. Or am I missing something?

RE: Use of Cinder Blocks

There are two sides to the blocks. the building way and the flat way. The flat way could collapse with too much weight on it. If I haven't made myself clear, think of how it looks when the mason stacks them in the building process. Didn"t know they still made cinder blocks. Too many enviromental hazards. Mercury, fly ash etc. Concrete Blocks? I think I would use something without a web in it.

RE: Water filter question

I was told by some water filter people to remove the filter and put it in the refrigerator in a plastic bag until the next time you need it

RE: Electrical Issues

Oh yeh. Last trip out lights were going off and some on by themselves. The trouble lies in the size of wirenuts they used in my rig. Too many wires jammed into too small a wirenut. The vibration caused some or one? to fall out. I think I've just about redone every connection and then I find another. Remove the fixture and fish around in the ceiling for the connections. skin out the wires so they fit better in the conector and when you are done wrap some GOOD tape over the whole thing. RVIA what a JOKE. They are suppost to set standards. Cheaper the better is their motto I guess.

RE: Wire up 220V dryer in 5th wheel?

Can't really see why not. There is 240 volts at the main panel Getting it out may be a problem because they never give you any room for more breakers. Maybe you will be lucky. don't forget you will be using about 24 amps during drying so you will have to watch what else you use during that time. Good luck

RE: 5th Wheel Hitches

How the wallet? The best IMO is the trailersaver. Expensive but worth every penny. Hitch head swivels side to side unlike so many and a very positive hookup when you back into it.Visable lock Air baags and if you think about the BD3 you get shocks too. The BD3 comes apart for easy removal unlike the TS3 that I install with a cherrypicker. No lightweight tin in that one.

RE: Same slide shear bolt broke again! Questions for you.

The SHEAR pins in mine are definitly ShEAR pins or bolts> They have groves machined into them. One right at the head and another grove around an inch from there. Right where the square tube would be.

RE: opinions on after market holding tank monitoring system

I replaced the orig******with See Level. Maybe I didn"t need it but it sure gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing how much water I have down to the gallon. The only complaint I have is the tanks they monitor are so shallow and long and wide. I wish the tanks were deeper but what is Is. I would order that on a new unit or I would not buy it. At a glance I can see exactly how much gray, black or galley or fresh water I have.

RE: Spare Fuel

When I got my fiver I hurt the side of it pulling into a gas station trying to manueuever around the concrete safety things. From then on I carried 4- 5 gal cans of diesel and 1 5 gal can of gas. Never again will I attempt to go into a regular station. The extra cans saved my bacon more than once. I might add that we never take the major highways so that eliminates the truck stops.

RE: unplug my wire harness?

My plug for the Ford was dead when the truck engine was off. My Chev stays on when the engine is off. I unplug the cord. Why take the chance. Put a note on the seat reminding you to plug back in.

RE: Paying for electricity w/ 50 amp

I have a 30 amp service so I am limited to 30 amps. Right. However I will use an adapter and plug into a fifty (50) amp outlet whenever possible. Only once did someone ask me what size did I need 30 or 50. I have seen WAY too many outlets burnt up on 30 amps plug and in turn they will destroy my plug too because they are arcing and the arc transfers to my plug. Last trip out I had to use a burnt 30 amp and sure enough, my plug shows signs of arcing and burning. Never saw a burnt 50 yet. I am sure they are out there , just haven't seen it.

RE: Are hitches universal?

My dealer had a chart telling where the rails go in regard to box size and axle length. I have a TS 3 Trailersaver hitch using Reese rails. No problem. Rails were mounted without having the hitch.

RE: Neat OZ Stop Sign

And now the big question? Do we have to back that sucker up all the way to on on ramp? We have an awful lot of traffic backed up. That idiot shopuld be forced to pay everyone for all the wasted fuel spent idling.

RE: Electrical hook up

If you have a transfer switch, it would be used when the genny is on board the camper, not in the truck. You would have to wire from the transfer switch to the genny and if it is in the truck how are you going to wire it. I would just plug it in. As the honda is 3000 watt it would be limited to a 30 amp plug, not a fifty, so if you have a fifty amp service you will need a 50 to 30 amp adapter and then expect to have some things not work.

RE: Scary Towing Sights This Week...

I doubt that any laws were broken. At least in WI. there is no law how much weight you can haul or tow if it has an Auto plate on it. Let the bumper drag. It,s legal. Dangerous yes legal yes. YOU CAN"T FIX STUPID

RE: 5th Wheeler VS RV

I had a "C" and everywhere I went, especially ralleys, I was trapped as the home was there and I wanted to go somewhere else. (A short side trip). You break camp, roll up the awning, get the hoses and electric in. You know the drill. Take your trip and come back. Try to maneuever back into the space you where in and reverve everything you did a couple hours ago. A royal Pain. I got the fiver and all that went away. You want to go somewhere? Go. the truck is unhitched and ready. Although in the defence of the C, it was so easy just to go. No hitch in truck,no hooking up. OH and by the way. when something happened to the C, I was always told " we don't work on motorhomes" easy to get service on a pickup. Anywhere.
