RE: Alaska advice for someone who's never been there

Dick_B don't tell Alaskans that their state closed down in August. August and September are some of the most beautiful times to be visiting. Some attractions may and will be closed but by no means is the state closed down. On our last trip we didn't leave until mid September and had a beautiful and colorful trip out.

RE: New York Finger Lakes Suggestions

Our favorite winery is Americana Winery. The cafe is great and also has an outdoor area. It is located in an old relocated barn. Best wines and prices.

RE: How do the full timers do it??

That is why there are Fords and Chevys, and different shape cookie cutters. Some like chocolate ice cream some like vanilla. You can't do it so what. It does not bother me. I spent 29 years as a pilot in the military, some say they could never do that. I had the greatest time of my life. Find something you like, then stick with it if you don't like change. We love fullltiming. We have drove to Alaska five times and done so many different things those that stay in there homes will never be able to do, and they tell us I only wish I could do that. We have been fulltiming since 2004.

RE: Wholesales Warranties Good or bad

I had issues with receiving payment for a repair that the repairman did not wish to deal with extended warranty company. I paid cash to get the repair. Took over six months to straighten out. They had mailed the check to some address in Georgia and my address was Florida. Every time I called no one knew what was going on. I also had a claim on back up camera (dead). The entire system is not manufactured any more. The repair facility said all other insurance companies they have worked with replaced the whole system with a new currently manufactured one under the electronics portion. Wholesale warranty wanted to just replace the camera with one they had found some place. Then wanted to pay only for a portion of that repair, which did not cover the repair cost. The repair facility said no need replacing with a known piece of******it would not last long and the insurance company would again wash their hands as it had once been repaired. I'm still without a working camera. I'm not a happy camper.

RE: NC to Maine this summer through NY and VT: Want routes

Roadpilot and Loginrock got the best routes. But do spend some time in the Adirondack area of NY. The Lake George area is a touristy area and a lot of fun.

RE: Rose Parade and RV's

A WORD OF CAUTION. I had paid in full for this past Rose Parade rally by Fantasy. I had open heart surgery and did not feel that I could make the trip to California and back to Florida this year. I wanted to initially apply it toward another rally but they wanted extra money to reschedule. I understood in the presentation that it would be a simple refund if there were medical complications accompanied by a doctor's letter. Buyer beware. They kept around $400 dollars. They wanted extra money plus the differential in tour prices to reschedule to another rally. I'm sure many enjoy the rally. We looked forward to this trip for many years. AS I SAID EARLIER, BUYER BE WARE

RE: A couple of Newmar Dutch Star questions...

When I had a gas coach with in floor heat vents, I would have to vacuum out the vents prior to first use in the fall. Other wise you got blasted with dust and whatever fell in there over the previous months. I did not like it either. A later coach had the vents mounted vertically on the side walls and under the sink. No dust and dirt problems. Had one diesel coach which had one of the floor vents near the foot of the bed which was hard to miss and had to replace the vent because of breakage a few times. The metal ones bend and the plastic ones break.

RE: wrecked my coach, need repair ideas

If you want it completed correctly and no excuses given, then do as several have suggested and call Paul Conley at Precision Paint in Bremen, IN. The only facility I will go to for an honest repair and billing. I'm satisfied with the estimate, repair and the total cost. Honest, honest, did I say honest. Miles

RE: Northern Lights Timing

They can be seen in Fairbanks in the first couple weeks of September. It is a great experience not only the first time, but each time. Stay in a campground without much artificial lighting. The experience in September seems to have a lot of green, but still beautiful.
