RE: Anyone have a superduty shortbed and a Reese round tube?

Looks good. We have an RDS with a tool box on top of it. The Reese we have is the same as yours but not round rail. It too clears but the pin box only clears by an inch or so when hooked up. Never hit though. Just FYI

RE: camping in Wisconsin and MN

Probably not to much problem with bears. Might want to bring a snow shovel though. Been real cold here. There will probably be many lakes even iced in on opening fishing which is May 4th. Hope we get some spring weather by the time you arrive.

RE: CB radio usage

We always use one while towing. Nice when others ahead tell you what lane to be in when traffic backs up. Or you can ask. Last year, was a big wreck ahead. Driver gave mile marker and we simply pulled off at a rest stop for lunch. Was nice rather than sit in stopped traffic. After an hour, traffic was moving again. We got going again and had zero stress.

RE: flooring

I install tile floors for a a living. Granite would not be a good choice in my opinion. Too much flex and shear. A product called LVT. Luxury vinyl tile is for sure your best solution if you want tile. Armstrong, Mannington, Duraceramic, to name a few. Feels like vinyl floor when you walk on it, but tough as ceramic. Most have grout joints. The grout is an acrylic product that won't crack out from movement, like an actual sanded grout product. This is not a peel the back off, stick down thing, but I high end product you will have to get from a flooring store. No, I'm not advertising, but do like this. It comes in plank too to look like wood. I have put this in Million dollar homes this past year. JMHO

RE: RV Transport company

We used one once as I had just sold my old truck and needed to get our unit back from the dealer. New truck was a few weeks out. Dealer contacted one of the transport companies that deliver to them. We are two hours from our dealer. Transport guy did a sort of haul back. We are kind of on the way back to Indiana for them. About 100 miles. Less than $200.00. Very nice job. Would do it again. I have done transport myself for several people over the last few years. But only friends and family type. Word of mouth. No insurance for business transport. A company will have insurance which you should be asking about. It is very expensive.

RE: 2012 Landmark San Antonio Frame Flexing

Willing to bet I have the same frame on our fiver. Having the exact flex problem for now two years. Has to get fixed again. They welded some gussets last year but they broke loose after about 1000 miles. Lippert frame, but not totally convinced that the frame is loaded right. Seems to be excessive load right at that point. Jmho.

RE: Rocky Mtn NP Camping

We stayed at elk meadow last summer. OK base camp. Way over priced though. We made reservations and had it set. Then they charged us extra saying we had two kids. Which was noted from day one. They made the rate quote wrong. But would not honor it. Crappy campground. But great views. Pool and hot tub was bad. Etc.etc. But, again worked OK as a base camp. Actually not sure we would stay there again. The jelly stone was a few miles down and a couple others. I think we would check them all out next time for sure. RMNP was awesome . Can't wait to tho again. Towing over tail ridge road would not be recommended by me. That's for sure. I have towed fiver over Bear Tooth Pass in Montana but not sure I would do trail ridge with fiver. Was great with truck though. Lots of pictures.

RE: Opinion: Excel vs Redwood vs Tradition

We just started this same research. Not sure on Redwood frames, but Excel makes their own which is a selling point to us. We are on our 2nd fiver both of which had frame issues. We are not fulltime, so cost of Excel is a concern too. We vacation in it and I use it about 4 months a year to live in for work.

RE: Bang for the Buck on TST TPMS

Our fiver has metal valve stems already. But my small enclosed trailer does not. I have them on there too, but would advise against it. The TST part is too heavy for a rubber valve stem. I too bought it direct. Just ordered off their web site. It's for sure one of my better investments.

RE: Glacier, Banff, Jasper.

Great info. We will have 11 full days from the time we arrive in St. Mary,s till we leave Jasper. Trying to get an itinerary of some sort set. So we can plan how many days at each location. We could actually have 12 full days if needed before we head home. We have 16 days total. Just was going to do the drive back in three days as border crossing back could be hit it miss on time. We are going from Jasper to Minneapolis. Soccer for three more days before drive back to Green Bay.

Glacier, Banff, Jasper.

OK, today's the day we start our trip planning for the new year. Our plan this year, for our two week trip is to go to St. Mary's, then up to Banff, and decided maybe we should relocate to Jasper instead of a day trip there. We are trying to decide how many days at each. Of coarse a week or more each would be nice, but not doable. We make day trips sight seeing, and maybe a few hikes or local functions. Train ride, etc. We like to spend some time seeing what we are looking at. Even if we can't go or do everything. Hoping some of you can give a little direction. I'm reading lots of posts here and getting some idea. Example, we did Yellowstone in four days. But was easy with various loops. We will have 11 days actually there. Two of those will include drive to Banff and drive from Banff to Jasper. Drive to Banff will include border crossing with fiver. Thanks, Andy

RE: Florida panhandle campgrounds

We went to Navarre Beach campground last year. Was nice. Had a small beach on the sound. Just across the bridge was miles of Gulf beach. I think it would be hard to bike from the park. I would haul them over the bridge and ride from there. Could ride to Pensacola. Small but nice sites. FHU. Close to many attractions. Walmart, Camping World, etc.

RE: Grand Tetons

We stayed at Coulter Bay RV. It was fine for us. It was a great location for a base camp. I would stay again. Fully agree with above. Too cold and too much snow in late September. We went in July and turned on the heat in the morning for a little bit. Was down in the 40's. Sorry I don't have any use full info for the op.

RE: Wisconsin Dells - Which Waterpark in August

We stay at stand rock. Very nice cg with all amenities and hook ups. A few minutes from town so nice quiet calm evenings. Nice pool. Just a nice place to relax a minute after a normally over full day. Jmho.

RE: How long of stay at Devil's Tower?

We stopped there in route to another. Stayed about four hours. We could have maybe stayed a full day, but that would really be about it. It is cool to see, but not much else Jmho.

RE: Mall of America in late March

Mall of America. In March. Not to be the bearer of bad news. There is a great chance it could be zero and a foot of snow. Last year was an exception. I hope it is nice, but I would have plan b in place for sure. Jmho.

RE: Ocean Lakes June 22 - July 6, 2013

Ocean lakes I think is our favorite beach campground. Ya we have been there in July. My favorite time. Hot and jungle humidity. For sure have a golf cart. Bikes are OK, but too large a park to ride around. But nearly impossible to drive anywhere in a truck. Have fun.

RE: South Dakota, best time to visit, June or July?

We have been there twice in July. Nice weather. Not bad crowd in our opinion. I'm sure less people in June, but was fine for us.

RE: frozen pipes

All of the above. Main thing is you need to keep gas heat running to keep thee basement heated. Don't leave outside water on unless you have a heated water line. what I do is when below freezing, I fill my tank and then unhook the hose. Run off my fresh water tank only. When working out of town, I can get about three days without refilling. I have been good down in single digits. Jmho.
