Dolores River RV Park, CO(ever stay here?)

Passed this park a few years ago and wife still to this day wishes we would have stayed there for a day or two and we didn't because of my insistence on going "a little farther!(wound up in the casino parking lot at Cortez instead)Something I will likely never quit hearing about in out tales or travel!
We are going to be going back on this route in June and was thinking "I better make reservations now" but after reading reviews they are very mixed with some not very good at all.
Any first hand info from anyone?

RE: 3/4 ton Duramax capacity

Lots of good replies with most all being on the same page! Not sure where my friend is going with this but even if he doesn't jump now, this is still good for him to know.
Thanks to all for your thoughts and comments.

3/4 ton Duramax capacity

As you can see by my sig. this is not me but for a friend.
He has a 2002 GMC Duramax 3/4 ton 4 door long bed truck and is looking at upgrading his 5th wheel.
Pin weight for the new 5ver (2005 Montana 3295RK)is 2300 pounds. I know it is border line but is it beyond the recommended capacity for that truck.
He does have plans to upgrade the truck within the next year or two and would consider a 1 ton at the time but not ready to jump there yet.
Any of you pulling this trailer with 3/4 ton?

RE: Cable Hatch Replacement

Very nice mod, would help to eliminate the issue of getting that stiff power cord in/out when cold and it gets a kink in it! Add that to my list...Thanks for the pictures.

RE: Back up camera for our Montana 5th wheel

I just installed a camera kit from RearVeiwSafty
At this point I have to say I am pleased with it. I decided to go with the wired system after reading a lot about unhappy results with wireless systems. Not saying all are but I was not willing to take the chance. It is color, has night vision and audio as well. Now I can not only see the wife but hear her too!

RE: 191 from I-70 to Provo,UT

Thanks for the help, looking forward to this route. We make the trip north into Oregon every summer and spend about 3 to 4 months on the road. It is fun to take different routes and see new country. I like to plan a route ahead somewhat (leaving room for options) and this site sure helps.

RE: 191 from I-70 to Provo,UT

It's US6 that goes all the way from I70 to Provo. US191 turns north at Price.
US6 is frequently used to cut off the I15/I70 corner. US191 north of Price is a little more challenging, first with an unnamed pass on the way to Duchesne, and then a climb in the Flaming Gorge area.
Thanks for the clarification. I will be sure to stay on US6.

RE: If you could change anything about your 5er

Heavier main frame. All the little things we have added like rear receiver hitch, rear view camera, added 110 outlets in cargo area, 16" wheels, LT tires, receps wired for inverter use etc:

(I do not double tow in OR) but sure wish I could!

Thanks, I love the internet too! And this side has been great many times.
Actually headed toward Idaho, leaving Ridgeway, Co and was looking at taking the 191 route for something new. Will look at the YouTube stuff.

RE: Rear Kitchen Question

We have had 3 5th wheels, first 2 were mid kitchens, this one is rear kitchen. My wife fell in love with the floor plan when we looked at it because of the rear kitchen, extra cabinets, extra counter space and no travel corridor through her area! We are on the 5th year with this rig, spend between 5 and 6 months in it each year and pull at least 10,000 miles each year. We have never broken a thing. I did have a silverware drawer come open but it was because the latch broke. That is it, I don't think we will ever have it any other way!
Good luck on your decision, but I would not believe all the stories! We were warned of that stuff too!
One last thing, we do have shocks on both axles.

RE: PullRite Superglide Hitch

"For those of you having experience with these hitches, is the extra $ well spent for the removable rail system?"
I have had mine 5 years, I spent the extra money and have taken my hitch out many times and feel that it was money well spent but that is an individual decision. I use my truck...

RE: Anyone replace suspension parts?

Hope you ordered a "wet bolt" set. That way you only go thru changing everything one time. All the other parts are also heavy duty that come with the set.
X2...wouldn't want to do it twice!

RE: issue with quaility of finish on Red Max Pro job

I wound up using a spray bottle and I think I had the best results that way, I first saturated my rag and rung it out. In large flat areas I would spray and wipe leaving as much as possible without runs or sags. I found that was the key in applying (I started out way too thin kind of rubbing it in). In areas where I wanted to be sure not to get over spray where I didn't want it I sprayed the rag while pointing away from the rig. Mist on window and places where you don't want it can be challenging to get off! I did get some mist on my glasses and washed them in warm soapy water in and it came off.
I think any kind of brush and you would have it running all over, it is the consistency of water!

RE: Fantastic fan, a mind of its own ???

Quit guessing. A call to Fantastic Vent tech support is free, parts are free if you need them, and they're just a great bunch of folks to talk to.
I bought a used 5th wheel w/Fantastic Vent. I did not work, I called, he walked me through a diagnostic procedure on the phone, sent me parts. It still didn't work, he sent more parts. ALL AT NO CHARGE AND I WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER!
Best company I have ever done business with by far!

RE: issue with quaility of finish on Red Max Pro job

Not sure what to do about what I have already done, probably give it another heavier coat and admire the other side.
Here's a tip:
Redmax acts as its own "solvent", so lightly rewiping over the linty spots with fresh Redmax will likely take the deposited lint right off.
You'd have to start with clean washed rags of course and change frequently to avoid redepositing the lint...
I am finding that to be true. It doesn't soften completely, but it does some and what I found is that I was putting it on "far too sparsely", seems to work much better when I have it heavy enough to almost sag!
I am feeling much better about how things are coming out now than I was this morning, thanks for all the tips.
It still is not going to feel "exactly" like a brand new one with that silky smoothness but it is going to look closer to that than anytime since I have owned it which is 7 years! I accept the fact that I am a little anal.;)

RE: issue with quaility of finish on Red Max Pro job

Okay, thanks for all the tips...it is going better. Changed rags to a pre-washed microfiber rag, put material in a spray bottle and "not trying to rub it in"..I think that was my big mistake, trying to spread it "to" thin. The second side is looking great with one coat!
Not sure what to do about what I have already done, probably give it another heavier coat and admire the other side.
Maybe someday I will feel like doing it over BUT not today!
