RE: Favorite appetizers for potlucks?

An easy ham rollup: 5 slices of square deli ham sliced thicker whipped cream cheese dill pickle spears - slice in half lengthwise toothpicks dry a slice of ham lay flat on cutting board spread with whipped cream cheese lay dry pickle spear roll up and spear with 3 toothpicks cut into bite size pieces and stand upright on platter so the middle is showing. Simple, yet delish! I make these with green onions instead of pickles. My aunt made it for a church dinner seems no one was worried about onion breath!

RE: Memphis in May festival and BBQ cook off.

The river has receded and TS is in the process of cleaning up. WE were there Sunday afternoon and they were hoping to have space available this past Monday. Call before you go. The river made a mess down there.

RE: What are you reading?

Finished "Lost City" a 2004 Clive Cussler that I missed. Not bad, good wins bad loses. I love his stuff. My daughter in law gave me the book about the Titanic (can't remember the title) but I was hooked. I've given a lot of his books as gifts.

If you are traveling in and to the National Parks, Nevada Barr's park series is a must! Makes the Parks seem like home! Agree!

RE: Memphis in May festival and BBQ cook off.

We live in West Memphis and Tom Sawyer is a hidden jewel. The one road into the park is ok. I wont' say great but its easily traveled in your mh. The cg is isolated from town and the owners are great and we feel completely safe there. The BBQ fest is downtown on the river so the drive over is a snap. Get on I-40 and take the Riverside exit and you are there. Parking is another story!!! Enjoy Memphis.

RE: Need chicken recipe

Try this. Line a cookie sheet with foil and spray with Pam. Cut boneless, skinless, chicken breast into bite size cubes, wrap each piece with 1/2 slice thin sliced bacon, secure with toothpick, roll in brown sugar, place on cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 45 mins. I've made this for big family gatherings and every last piece is eaten!

RE: Favorite appetizers for potlucks?

Cocktail Weenies with grape jelly and BQ sauce! Just Kidding, but monitoring these post for possible Football Game fare :) I never knew this recipe actually existed until some women on another forum I frequent insisted they weren't "snipe hunting". Still haven't tried it BUT I still have a bucket list.... I like red currant jelly and horseradish mustard.

Tom Sawyer RV Park

This amazing campground is one of the best kept secrets! Right on the bank of the Mississippi, about 4 miles off I-40/I55 in West Memphis Arkansas. We were there this weekend, saw huge river barges passing literally right in front of us. The American Queen Riverboat passed by Saturday afternoon on its way to New Orleans. Just beautiful. Not a lot of shade but there was always a good breeze blowing in from the river. Its easy in and out if you need an overnite place while passing thru Memphis or its only 10 or 15 minutes from downtown Memphis.

RE: This and That Soup

A friends mother in law called it Mustgo Soup. If it was leftover in the frig, and it was getting old, it must go! The first time I heard her say mustgo, I thought she was saying musco and I wondered if it was animal somewhat kin to a muskrat!

RE: Easter Dinner

We will be staying home with about 30 people coming over. I will provide ham, Hawaiian meatballs, bread and my Famous Chocolate Pies! One Sister in law provides vegetables and another provides desserts making it pretty easy for all of us. And 12 kids to hunt eggs! Just hoping it doesn't rain too much so the yard won't be too wet.

RE: Spring has sprung,

Spring is trying to spring here in Eastern Arkansas. I'm seeing RVs going by more often. We had 6-8 inches of snow a week ago. but now the weeds are coming up and the Bradford pears are trying to bloom and I picked my first batch of daffodils this morning, which just bloomed out since Sunday. Temp has been in the 70's for the last 3 days. We are so ready to camp. Our first trip will be to Hot Springs, Arkansas for a grandson's outdoor wedding. Surely hoping it doesnt' rain.

RE: Coffee machines

We have a 4 cup that I still store in the original box and let it ride in the overhead above the table. Daughter in law is giving us her Keurig, she's switching to French press. It will ride in the sink and at camp will be on the table under the awning.

RE: Best HOMEMADE Potato Salad Recipe?

Potatoes, boiled eggs, onion, sweet pickle relish, mayo and about a teaspoon of mustard, salt pepper. We don't have an exact recipe, we like a bit more onion and less pickle so that's how we make it. This is pretty much my recipe too, except I use Miracle Whip instead of Mayo. Just a taste preference, mayo is to 'strong'.

RE: I Think I Might Be Weird

and here in Northern California it was a pleasant 73 degrees and it might drop to the low 40s tonight. I had a cold beer in the back yard wearing shorts and a tee shirt. Lol, go ahead and rub it in. My grandson in Oxnard said it was 70 there Wednesday when we were at 28 and having sleet. Ended up with 6-8 inches of sleet, snow and freezing rain.

RE: Have you seen this house in Joshua Tree, CA?

I didn't know about this. I'll tell my grandson about it. He was talking about Joshua Tree just the other day. He's Navy stationed at Point Magu and loving it with so much to see and do in Southern California.
