RE: One week left

I always pay in a little extra every year because I don't know what our capital gains situation will be. If I get it back, fine. If I have to pay, it eases the bottom line. My son has extra state tax withheld to cover bonuses because they do not withhold on a bonus. After he e-filed, the state asked for a copy of his w-2. Then called his employer to see if the figures were right. They suggested perhaps that amount was meant to be put in the 401K box. Employer had to assure them the figures were correct. Took him about 2 months to get his refund.

RE: Family rescused at sea

I heard on the radio that the Navy sunk it. I'm all for adventure and sharing the love of sailing with the children, but agreed, they are too young to remember it. And like someone said kids need room to romp and run and feel green grass under their feet.

RE: Mickey Rooney pass at 93

I loved the old Andy Hardy movies. Life was so much simpler back then. I'm sure kids today would think they are too corny.

RE: Well...

Mfar, this is a bump in your road. While you'll miss the road for while, you will find peace and comfort knowing that you did what was right and took care of your mom when she needed you most. We spent last summer taking care of MIL and we'd do it all over again. So go ahead and give up that big rv, downsize and you and those pups get back out there. We'll be lookin for ya!

RE: Grandchild dilema

It will work out - she'll learn. I think it's awesome that this little girl has TWO male role models who love her very much :-) I was the oldest grandchild - and my Dad was there right from the start. But my Grampa (mom's dad) doted on me, too - and there was always a joking rivalry between Daddy and Grampa about "whose girl I was"...LOL!! But it was a wonderful way to grow up, knowing that 2 wonderful men loved me with all their hearts. I say she is such a lucky little girl. I'm sure her daddy isn't bothered by her affection toward you, he's so thankful that you were there to make here feel loved and safe and secure when he was away and couldn't be there for her. She'll outgrow it and be a daddy's little girl, but you, grandaddy, will always have an extra special place in her life.

RE: The Look

I have the opposite problem. When my wife gives "the look" it ends up being cute. Then I laugh and she really gets mad! Lol, don't you know those could be famous last words!

RE: more snow

Another 6" here(5000') and over 30" on the summit of West Mt(8000'), just a mile west of us, this morning when we got up. Our snow pack and water content is above the 30 year average and we still have at least another 6 weeks of this type of weather, before it will start getting into summer weather. God bless ya'll. that just aint right!

RE: NCAA Bracket

I hear a lot of weeping and wailing in L'ville and Michigan. Noe-place, I'm in awe of that fully colored-in map. You've been on a real adventure. That's on my bucket list.

It doesn't take that much effort for us to unhook and drive to the dump. That blue thingie just seems too nasty to mess with.

RE: Does anyone have any good bologna (baloney) recipes?

my mom sent me to school with a boloney and mayo on wonder bread everyday to school for 9 yrs. i havent had a piece of boloney since 1968 . however , the wonder bread bags were used on my feet in the winter so my feet would stay dry . i still remind her of the abuse of it all . lol When I told my daughter in law we used to put bread bags on the kids feet to send them out in the snow she thought that was the funniest thing she'd ever heard. Also used the bread sacks to hold dirty diaper when we were away from home. This was befoe disposbles.

RE: High School Graduation Gift Ideas

When I graduated high school someone gave me a mustard seed necklace. It was a small glass bead with a mustard seed inside on a small gold chain. It meant so much to me because a mustard seed in a symbol of hope and the Bible mentions the 'faith of a mustard seed'. And at graduation high school or higher, it is a time of stepping out on faith so the mustard seed just seemed so appropriate. I wore it all the time until one day it came up missing. Broke my heart.
