RE: Atwood water heater humming noise

I removed the electric element on our hot water tank and removed the mineral build up on it. Solved the problem. I always keep a spare electric element just in case it fries.

RE: Slide opening out of square?

search "main slide adjustment" and click on each topic. The adjustments and design are simple for hydraulic systems. Loosening the rusted nuts is another matter.

RE: Main Slide Adjustment

We had a similar problem on our 2008 Challenger, however there was a gap at both ends and around the top. While in Moab, a strong wind blew against the slide, rocked it and in blew dust, leaves and twigs. When the wind died down, I checked the slide, and you could push at the top of the slide and the entire slide would rock back and forth. It was sealed at the bottom on each end, got progressively looser as you felt up between the slide seal and fiver wall and loose all around the top. In other words, I could get my finger in between the seal and wall.
On return from our trip, I took the unit to our trusted service department who advised the slide was in tolerance and did not need adjustment. Me not happy.
I got out the manual and began to check how the adjustments worked while crawling under the fiver.
Underneath the slide you will see an adjustment bolt that will allow you to raise or lower each end of the slide. There should be two lock down bolts which holds everything in place. I dropped our slide about a 1/2" on each end and now the slide is sealed tight all around. I did the first adjustments 1/4" and there was still a gap. I was satisfied with the 1/2" adjustment.
I also adjusted the slide to seal better when in the closed position. When the slide was opened, there was 1/2 an inch difference between the front and rear of the slide out as measured from the 5th wheel side wall. There is also an adjustment for this variance.
Be aware that all bolts and nuts will be well rusted and will take some lube and effort to adjust.
The Lippert manual supplies information on how to make adjustments for the slide.

RE: Has anyone's fifth wheel come unhitched when driving?

Hijacker, with slide bar. Fool proof. Once the slide bar crosses the king pin, install lock. Lock can not be positioned until slide bar is all the way across the king pin.

RE: State parks along Oregon Coast

Thanks to all who provided valuable information on State Parks along the Oregon coast. Weather would play a roll in the length of time we stay on the ocean thus we may opt to travel straight to Death Valley as that is one of our "warm" destinations this coming fall/winter. Obviously, late summer or early fall would be a preferred departure time to explore the Oregon coastal areas, however looks like this will have to wait until this time, next year.

State parks along Oregon Coast

Hello everyone.
We are planning a month stay up and down the Oregon coast this November and would appreciate any suggestions for camping areas in State parks suitable for a 30ft 5th wheel. Full service would be nice but not necessary. Oh and what would the weather be like.

RE: Carlisle tires?

In Roswell, NM, at discount tire, I bought 4 new marathons as the ones we had were 5 years old and one showed casing separation issues. They ordered them in and we had great service. I know much has been spoken on China bombs, but I had no issues with the ones I had, but became leery of the age and miles (40,000). I watch tire pressure constantly and also check tire temp with infra red device. Hope this helps.
