RE: Campgrounds along I-65 north of Birmingham AL

a very nice and inexpensive cg a little further south is sherling lake in Greenville AL. its about 2 miles off 65, we have stayed there many times for a night. My parents live in Harrison OH also, it takes them about 11.5 hours to Greenville.

RE: I finally did it!

I added a 50 amp plug in my rv garage, just find it easier to plug in and use anything that may be needed. We have a a few campout nights in the garage before, but didn't need to run the a-c on those times.

RE: seeking overnight stop on I-65 southern ky, nothern TN

Doubt if they have any "pull through" sites but there are LOTS of COE parks around LBL (Land Between the Lakes) and also several state parks. Thanks, but that is the other end of the state. Im seeking something off I-65

seeking overnight stop on I-65 southern ky, nothern TN

I will be traveling through southern KY and northern TN on I-65 and seeking a overnight pull through site with electric only. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I tried calling the Bowling Green KOA, but they want almost $60 for about a 6 hour stopover....im not willing to pay that high of a price for a few hours sleep.

RE: 1 Ton SRW Truck

I personally like the srw for ease of everyday driving, which I just purchased a new '13 model. based upon the weight specs for my truck, I would say anything over 15000+ gvwr for a 5er should be dually territory.

RE: weighed my new setup

Looks good then. The only thing I would be concerned about now is tires. They are probably ST china bombs so watch them very carefully keeping them inflated to max pressure and keep your speeds below 65 and go. I actually upgraded my trailer tires to Michelin lt tires as I tow quite a bit in southern hot climates so I hope to be good. Thanks!!

RE: weighed my new setup

the camper was loaded and ready to camp. I am leaving for a 2 week trip shortly, so I will be loaded a bit heavier, guessing maybe another 750# or so in the trailer.

weighed my new setup

I went over a cat scale last weekend and below are the numbers I was given. Truck is a 2013 GMC 3500 SRW, and a 2011 Montana 345 DBQ. Front axle 4680 drive axle 6160 trailer axle 10200 gross weight 21040 any input into these numbers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

RE: adjusting height for new tow vehicle

im surprised, i hooked it up in my driveway and its close to level and looks good. I have 6.5" from the bottom of the 5er to the top of the bed rails. I think raising it more will put the trailer nose high. Im going to see how it goes for a short trip (75 miles) on Friday. I will be doing about 2000 miles in 3 weeks so i want to make sure it feels and looks right. Thanks for the suggestions!!

adjusting height for new tow vehicle

i am picking up a new 3500 GMC Denali SRW today for pulling my 5th wheel. The truck appears to sit quite a bit higher than my old one. Im guessing i may have to adjust the pin height so that i get a level trailer. Anyone have experience doing this, or suggestion on how to proceed the best? Thanks

RE: finally getting back to camping

Thanks for the replies, the kids are doing very well and I feel that getting back to camping will only help them learing the "new normal".

finally getting back to camping

Its been a long 12 months but now a much improved outlook is ahead. our last camping trip was topsail hill state park last year. Upon returning home, my wife began acting very strange. After doing a little detective work, I learned that she was doing things she shouldn't have been doing and promptly filed for divorce. The process as most was long and difficult. But looking back, I am much happier now as our my children. I was able to get custody of my children, keep our family home as well as most belongings. I did allow her to take our truck (which was used to pull the 5er). So Thursday I am picking up my new 2013 3500 Denali and we are back to camping. The kids and I are so excited to get back to "normal" and look forward to a great camping season. We will have one local weekend trip and then back to Topsail as it has been planned for a long time.

Seeking overnight stop along I-65 near Bowling Green KY

Looking for advice for an overnight stop near Bowling Green KY. We will be arriving late and leaving early. We have stayed at the KOA here before but the site they gave us was very unlevel and not long enough for us to not have to unhook. Any suggestions would be appreciated. We would at least like electric service. Thanks,
