RE: Slow Cooker Recipes
Here's one everyone seems to like:
Crock Pot Chicken & Dumplings
Ingredients:
4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
2 tablespoons butter
2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of chicken soup
1 onion, finely diced
2 (10 ounce) packages refrigerated biscuit dough, torn into pieces
Directions:
Place the chicken, butter, soup, and onion in a slow cooker, and fill with enough water to cover.
Cover, and cook for 5 to 6 hours on High. About 30 minutes before serving, place the torn biscuit dough in the slow cooker. Cook until the dough is no longer raw in the center.
Enjoy!!
RE: Widows continuing to RV by themselves
You might want to try this site:
Open Roads Singles
It's a forum for singles, but the majority of the folks on it are widowed and divorced women. Very friendly and supportive of each other. They have get togethers all over the country all year.
RE: Group Tent Site near NY
You might try Ives Run in Tioga, PA...just south of the NY border. It's a Corps of Engineer campground. I've only stayed there in my 5th wheel, but I did see a ton of tent campers around. The last time I was there they had a large motorcycle rally going on, so I assume they have sufficient tent sites. Give them a call.
Have fun!!!
RE: Suggestions for Cody, WY campgrounds/RV Parks
I stayed at the Yellowstone Valley Inn and RV Park about 18 miles outside of Cody on the way to Yellowstone 2 years ago. Nice place...FHU, level sites, all pull throughs, gravel, good space between sites. Very few trees, but there was a nice breeze coming through the valley...it was July and I didn't have to use the A/C. Very scenic area. It sits on a bend of the Shoshone River and we saw a bunch of wildlife in the evening. They have a heated pool and an indoor spa (nice after a day hiking around in Yellowstone!:) )
There's also an onsite restaurant and saloon that serves a great breakfast buffet (at the time they were giving you discount tickets if you stayed there) and a good dinner. It's also a Passport America park. The PA directory says the discount is good for 2 nights, but they gave me the discount for my entire week stay. It's a little bit of a drive into Cody, but it's quieter at night and not as crowded and cramped as the parks in town.
If you don't need FHU's, Buffalo Bill State Park has 2 pretty nice campgrounds only a few miles outside Cody. Most of the sites have water and electric, but no sewer. There is a dump station there.
Whatever you decide, have a great trip!!
RE: Campground in or around Dallas, TX
I usually stay at the Treetops RV Village in Arlington. Nice park, a lot of trees, long, level pull through sites, nice pool, close to local shopping and attractions. About halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth, easy access from I-20. Have a great trip!!
RE: Campground limits GS discount
I'm surprised they would give you even a ONE day GS discount during that time frame. Sun-N-Fun is a big snowbird destination from January through March and it stays full the whole time. I've stayed there in April a couple of times and gotten the GS discount for my entire stay. It's a really nice place.
If you haven't made your reservation yet, you might want to try Myakka State Park just a little farther up the road. Water and electric hookups only, but also a nice place and reasonable rates. If you've got small pets though, keep an eye on them....the alligators seem to like them! :B
J/K...there are alligators in the park, but they tend to keep to themselves.

bigdaddogg1. Picture you posted is in the area MT. Rushmore. I am thinking that there 2 or 3 tunnels around there.More precisely, it's the Needles eye on the Needles Highway.
Give the man a cigar!! That's it!
Here's another one...a little bit harder:

RE: South Dakota & Badlands Help
Call Ellsworth when you're about an hour out and check to see if they have sites open. The overflow area is OK, but I don't care to pack up and move after a couple of days, especially if pressed for time.
If it's full, I usually head down the road through Rapid City and stay at the Three Flags RV Park in Black Hawk. It's a Passport America park and they will honor the discount for the entire time you're there (except during Bike Week.) It's pretty centrally located and it's an easy drive from there to all the major attractions in the area (Custer State Park, Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse, Badlands, Devil's Tower, Deadwood, etc.) With the PA discount, it's $20/night.
The park doesn't have many amenities, but it does have a very clean bath house and laundry room. Most of the sites are FHU pull throughs and have decent cable TV (no premium channels, but all the major networks.)
Whatever you decide, drive safely and have a great time!!!
RE: Campgrounds or rest areas?
Try the military campgrounds. Great one Moody AFB, exit 5 on I-75 (Grassy Pond).
King's Bay Sub Base off I-95 near St. Mary's , GA.
Naval Station Mayport. Right on the ocean and channel to watch ships go out.
Patrick AFB, FL south of Cocoa Beach. South on I-95 to Pinada Causeway. To east to the ocean and turn left. Go about one mile to the commercial gate. Great campground right on the river and 1 mile to ocean.
MacDill AFB, Tampa, FL. Nice campground but traffic around Tampa is horrid.
NAS Key West. Our favorite. We winter there from mid Dec till about mid March.
Use those bennies. You earned them.
Many FL rest areas have armed security all night. Usually we stay in campgrounds but have used FL rest areas when nothing else was available.
X2!!
There's quite a few Military Campgrounds along the I-95 corridor and a bunch of nice ones in Florida and Georgia. Here's a link to a the best site for information:

Have a great trip!
RE: Verizon Unlimited Plan question
I upgraded my MiFi yesterday to 4G. I had the unlimited date 3G for years, but when I upgraded I had to pick a new plan. I went with the $50 for 5G plan, which is actually $10 a month cheaper than my 3G unlimited. The agent reviewed my usage for the past couple of years and I'd never gone over 4G in any month, so this worked out for me.
I also have the unlimited usage with 200 text messages a month and free long distance and roaming on my 2 cell phones with Verizon. These are NOT affected by upgrading the MiFi.
RE: Safe place in South Carolina
I had my camper at Saluda River Resort for 2 years. Nice place, great people there...country folk, down to earth. They have an on site cafe open for 3 meals a day, swimming pool, boat ramp, and a chapel on site. Monthly rate was very reasonable, electric is extra and depends on usage. I would recommend it for a long term stay.
RE: Special alert for California RV'ers
How does this apply to out of state drivers? I read about the reciprocity part, but what if your home state does NOT require this level of licensing?
RE: Route suggestions for Springfield Ma. to Charleston SC
X2 on avoiding the NY, NJ, Philly, Baltimore, DC corridor!
Another option is staying on 81 to I-77 south near Wytheville, VA. Stay on 77 until it dead ends at I-26 in Columbia, SC. I-26 runs straight into Charleston. Only real traffic you'll run into is in Charlotte, NC. If you time it right though (pass through between 9 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon) you should miss it. One long downhill grade at the NC/VA border...other than that, no problem.
Plenty of campgrounds along the way to overnight in not far off 81. Also a couple of Flying J's and a LOT of Wally Worlds! LOL
Have fun!
RE: Need for RV Park Reservations
Shouldn't be Mike. Sturgis is finished and the kids are all back in school. Weather is really nice there in September and all the tourist attractions aren't as crowded. If you're looking for a central location to tour the area and are a Passport America member, check out Three Flags RV Park in Black Hawk. Right off of I-90, FHU pull through sites, and about an hour away from everything.
Have fun!
