RE: Any 5th wheel hitch operate exactly like a semi 5th wheel?

For my 2 cents I just want to mention the AIR SAFE HITCH. AIRSAFE We have had one for 7 years now and it is great. It has the Blinkley Head and has worked flawlessly. bigdon68

Slide out seal replacement - is it a big job?

We have a bedroom slide that is leaking on the inside bottom corner. I need to replace the seals on this slide out. Has anyone done this and how big of a job is it? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks, Bigdon68

RE: Vinyl wraps

Yes, I am talking about putting any picture that I want into the "wrap" and putting it on the 5th wheel. My guy at WRAPS says that the vinyl will probably last twice as long as the original decals. My trailer manufacturer went out of business when the economic crunch hit so I have no allegiance to putting their name on my trailer. They can do pictures (of anything), stripes to match your current stripes or whatever you can dream up. I think I will have them wrap the entire front cap and then do a matching design on each side. As soon as I come up with some kind of design he will give me a quote. I'll let you all know when I get the numbers. I do know that he said it would be a lot cheaper if I take off the old decals. He said the easy way to do that is on a hot summer day take one of those scrapers that you use for stoneware (they sell them where they sell kitchen stuff) and get it started and just peel it off. Gotta go. Getting to long winded. bigdon68

Vinyl wraps

Has anyone used a vinyl wrap on their 5'ver? I have a local company that wants to wrap my front cap. My decals are terrible and I am thinking about it. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Bigdon68.

RE: Morryde IS

We did the exact switch two years ago and with neverlube axels. The absolute best money we every spent and the ride is fantastic. Total cost about $5000 if memory serves me right. MorRyde did such a great job that we went back a year later and had them install the BigFoot Levelers. Another great install. The old suspension was a pain. Busted shackles -- had to install wet bolts and keep them greased and a rougher ride. Enjoy the MorRyde folks. Best customer service around. bigdon68

RE: Tire diameter/clearance

NOW Here's a Tire!! Michelin 235 75R 17.5J. We got these two years ago and they still look brand new. We have 8K axles with MorRyde IS Suspension and Disc breaks -- it is a great combination. The diameter is 31.3 and the old goodyears were 30.8. Not that much of a jump-- we have plenty of room. The load rating is 6005 lbs. We had a serious blowout with the goodyears -- and I said that's it. So we got the michelins -- which are actually commercial grade trailer tires. Safety and peace of mind are PRICELESS !! bigdon68

RE: Anyone replace suspension parts?

Two years ago we did away with our entire suspension and went to MorRyde and had their IS Suspension installed with disc brakes. Absolutely the best money spent and the best decision we ever made. The ride is unbelievable Been through shackle bolts breaking; been through the wet bolts and the greasing. Just decided to make the big leap. If you decide that the trailer you have is the one you really like and you are going to keep it for a while then the MorRyde IS system is something you really have to take a look at. A year later we went back to MorRyde and had them install the BigFoot Levelers. WOW!! Enjoy the road. We Do. Bigdon68

RE: Can height of 5th wheel be much of a problem?

I would say so. Three years ago we were traveling N/B I-95 in VA approaching the Hampton Roads tunnel. We set off the overheight alarm for trucks and as we approached the tunnel the State Police stopped all of the traffic so they could pull us over into their parking lot. Short story they couldn't really measure the trailer with their "L" shaped stick but they thought I was at least 13'7". Luckily a State Trooper pulled me over (I am retired Maryland Trooper) and he cut me a break with a warning and made us take the route around the tunnel. He told me that usually the first ticket for overheight is $1,000. We invested that possible fine into a low-profile air conditioner for the front and everything has been fine since. Know how tall your rig is -- it can get very expensive. Bigdon68

RE: Installing 30 amp box at home

You might as well wire it for a 50 AMP and just use a 30 AMP breaker for now. I actually wired mine within 5 feet of the box and just used my trailer power cords to reach the trailer. http://www.ehow.com/how_6704656_wire-amp-camper-power-outlet.html It is worth it when your working inside of the trailer on those hot summer days. RE: 5th wheel auto leveling

We had BIGFOOT installed about 18 months ago by MorRyde. Fantastic system and one of the best things we have added onto our 5'ver. Enjoy the road. Bigdon68

RE: need tires , help

Bigdaddy51200. All you have to do to get 40 pages of responses is mention the word TIRES. I will just be straightforward. Buy the absolute best tires and wheels that you can get for your rig. All of the top, high-end, 5th wheel manufactures offer 17.5" wheels and anywhere from Load Range G to Load Range J tires. Personally I put 17.5" Michelins with Load Range J Tires on my trailer and have never been happier and more confident going down the road. Don't skimp on the important stuff. Nuff said. Bigdon68

Rhino RV Roof - Has anyone done this yet?

Rhino Linings is doing RV Roofs. Has anyone done this yet? It looks great. Rhino Linings I have Rhino Lining in my truck and frankly it is bulletproof. I actually thought to myself -- I wonder if they could put this on the roof of an RV. Well they do. I am definitely going to check this out. bigdon68

RE: ? G614 Tires

Ride depends on your suspension. I have 18 ply 17.5" Michelin Tires on our trailer -- with Mor Ryde IS suspension and it rides as smooth as anything. Put the best tires you can get on your rig. A serious blowout will convince you -- we know. Enjoy the ride. We do. Bigdon68

RE: 5th wheel suspension upgrades?

After shackles breaking, and putting in a wet bolt kit and still putting up with the rough ride we went to Mor Ryde and had their IS Suspension and Disc Brakes installed. What a difference. I frankly don't know why every manufacturer doesn't at least offer the Mor Ryde system as an option. The difference in the ride and how smooth it is is unbelievable. We made the decision a couple of years ago to keep our trailer and just upgrade what we already liked. Mor Ryde is a fantastic company to deal with and their customer service is number one. Enjoy the road. We do. Bigdon68
