RE: Brake controller

while the prodigy is a decent controller, for what you are towing though I would invest a little more and get the max brake controller. I had a prodigy that I used for years without issue pulling a popup and then a 26' TT. When I upgraded to a 32' fifth wheel I started having some annoying braking issues. While the prodigy had no problem stopping the 5er it would always start jerking like it was releasing and applying the trailer brakes during the last portion of the stop coming to a red light or stop sign.No matter how I adjusted it. After going though the 5er brakes and finding nothing wrong I decided to upgrade to the max brake controller. It made a huge difference in all phases of braking.

RE: Glacier Ntl Park

We stayed at Glacier Meadows RV Park between East Glacier and West Glacier. 16 miles west of East Glacier Park on US Highway 2:
//www.glaciermeadowrvpark.com/
Water and electric and they pump your tanks for no extra charge.
I saw that one,was considering it.But the pics on their website makes it look like mostly a field with parking spots to park. Not much campsite ambiance. How long did it take you to drive to the east entrance from there ?

Glacier Ntl Park

I need some direction from a seasoned Glacier Park visitor. Planning a trip for 2013. Been doing a little research but could use some experienced input. I want to do some short/day hikes and it seems the majority of that is on the east side, but most of the rv camgrounds seem to be on the west side of the park. I'll be in a 32' 5er with some extra people so hookups would be prefered but I have no problem with a genny and as long as I can have access to water and a dump station thats good enough. Planning a later june early july trip. Is the Going to the sun road generally open by then ? And am I mistaken in my research that the majority of the things i want to see are on the east side, like many glacier, iceberg lake,2 medicine ? But there seems to be very few options on that side of the park. Thanks in advance.

RE: slideout trouble

I'm not familiar with your exact model and don't know what brand your slideout mechanism is. But generally the manual override is on the motor/gearbox not at the end of the drive shafts where you are looking.

RE: best way thru Chicago from the north

355 runs south from 90 all the way to 80, its your best bet to avoid 90,94,290 and 294 in the Chicago area.

RE: how do you carry kayaks while towing the fifth wheel

rear mounted hitch rack made by rvraxx for me. Carries them vertically. Mine are 10 footers, you can probably get away with 12 footers with this setup but any longer and they would stick up too high with clearance issues.

RE: Keeping out mice and such while in storage?

Pure peppermint oil saturated into cotton balls placed in a spray can lid, get it from GNC for about $7 a bottle. Read it on here and tried it. Have my 5er in a storage shed on a farm and have not seen a rodent inside since I started using it. Going on 2 years now.

RE: Feedback on ladder mounted bike racks

Personally I would'nt waste my time or money on a ladder rack. I avoid driving behind any trailer with something hanging of the ladder. The bumper mounts are not much better. The only way to go is with a frame mounted hitch.

RE: Lubilng my PullRite SuperGlide?????

Then Gentleman, WD-40 it is. Seems crazy to me because its more of a water dispersant than a lubricant.
One other question guys, The part/plate that hooks on the trailer pin, it just came with a large set screw, nut and small white block of Teflon. Yes I have the directions. It says to put it on and tighten it up with the set screw and jam nut. The thing weighs like 10 lbs. Seems odd. The reason I ask,I am picking it up after work today.
It's not the best attachment method I've seen but it works ok. All it really does is hold the capture plate on while you're disconnected. Once you're hooked up it's sandwiched in there doing it's job, it's not going anywhere at that point.

RE: Lubilng my PullRite SuperGlide?????

Well I just went out and looked. There is nothing white resembling Teflon. The piece that sits between the rails is two big black chunks of what looks to be steel. Nothing teflon on the front either. I just bought this, Its the 16K model.
They aren't white in color they are black. If it's a new model as already stated all it needs is a shot of wd40 like lube before each use. The older models used the sliplate spray graphite or the even older models used grease.

RE: Lubilng my PullRite SuperGlide?????

Use a lube plate, nothing else. My 2 cents.
not on a superglide,it will interfere with the clearance for the latching mechanism

RE: pullrite superglide

I know the spot you're talking about on the release handle. I thought mine was bent when I got it also. It doesn't have that nice smooth look but looks like it's kinked in the bend. I called pullrite and sent the guy a pic, It's normal, they're all that way.

RE: Need Help! One way tow vehicle rental for TT

one of my buddies rented a Toyota truck from a Toyota dealer complete with hitch to haul a car trailer with. They told him they do it all the time. He had to supply the brake controller and harness though. Doesn't hurt to check.

RE: Fuel level sending unit

More than likely it's the sending unit, as previously stated the GM diesels don't have a tank pump so just change the whole unit. You can either drop the tank or remove the bed to change it. I prefer to drop the tank, seems less hassle to me but a lot of guys remove the bed and say it's easier. You'll need a few guys for that method. Don't get a cheaper aftermarket unit. My buddy did and ended up doing it again in a year when it went bad again. Bite the bullet on this one and get an oem sending unit.

RE: Chevrolet diesel 250 4X4 and a fifth wheel

I have a 06 2500 Chevy diesel 4x4 and it's perfectly fine with my 5th wheel which I don't consider to be one the higher cg types. What you may have run across was a reference to the the newer trucks which have higher bed sidewalls which decrease the clearance between the bed and the 5er. I'm not sure which year that started.

RE: Airdog

I've been running one my 06 dmax for about 4 years. Don't know about the Fords but the Chevy diesel pickups don't have a tank or frame mounted electric pump. They rely on the cp pump on the engine to suck the fuel from the tank. They say for the Chevy adding an airdog or similar pump helps decrease wear on the engine cp pump and increase performance. Can't say I really noticed any mpg gain or any performance gain that can be felt dramatically. It does a very good job with filtration though. I've drained it on a regular basis and have never drained any water out of it. But I've never drained any out of the stock water drain either. I think it mostly depends on the quality of fuel you're getting. It does make bleeding the fuel system easy.

RE: Unexpected surcharge. Is this common?

Why would a CG owner want to stalk his clients and then ambush them at checkout time? Isn't life too short? Raise rates to cover your expenses and be done with it.
exactly, figure your overhead and charge accordingly across the board and make your rate uniform. I can't stand it when they put out an advertised rate and then nickel and dime you for every little thing in small print somewhere like a car salesman.

also be sure to see the minuteman missile site on the way out and The mammoth site at hot springs.
You'll need a reservation ahead of time for the minuteman missle site or you'll never get in, limited spots.
