RE: Christmas Bonus?

All salaried folks at our company got small bonuses. Been on salary freeze for 3 years and this year we lost 401-K Match, Profit Sharing, Guaranteed Bonus Program (guess not huh), Tuition Reimbursement, etc... Guess it's better than nothing.

RE: Lottory Winnings

All the experts say to always take the one-time payout. There is no right to survivorship on lottery winnings. AKA if you win today, and die tomorrow your heirs don't assume the yearly payments if you take the payout over multiple years.

RE: RT. 25 & 70 From Ashville to Newport

The 25/70 route through Hot Springs is the old I40 bypass before they completed I26 up to I81. I've hauled both my 35' 5ver and a 30' TT on it numerous times. With those rigs, it was easily doable. Only concern was the narrow bridge just east of Hot Springs but that was in the process of being replaced last year and should be completed by now. In a car, it would be a breeze and is very scenic once you get away from I26. You may want to consider going 25/70 there and 441 on the way back. Best of both worlds. The narrow bridge is still in use. The new bridge doesn't look like it will be open for quite some time. That little bridge is not fun in a car couldn't imagine towing.

RE: RT. 25 & 70 From Ashville to Newport

Was in PF last week in our car. We live about 1 hour east of Asheville. Going to PF I took I26 to 25/70 route and it was okay. Coming home we took 441 out of Gatlinburg to where the parkway starts just past the visitors center going into Cherokee. Took the parkway across to HWY 19 on top of Soco Mountain and came back down 19 thru Maggie Valley (deserted this time of year)until we jumped back onto 74 to 40. It was within 10 minutes time wise either way. I preferred coming back thru Maggie Valley much more than 25/70. With that being said if I had to actually go thru town in Cherokee (couldn't take the parkway to miss is) and fight that traffic I'd probably take 25/70.

RE: Retail 5th wheel pin box bike racks??????

Cost me $65.00 at welding shop and $100.00 for good bike rack off craigslist. So I was good to go for less than $200.00

RE: no weighted tags needed in NC

The problem with NC is almost all 3/4 ton trucks weigh enough on their own to go over the threshold for weight tag. If you drive a 3/4 ton and never plan to tow anything your still suppoused to have a weighted tag (this is per the NC trooper who lives next door)!

RE: I 40 closed near the NC/TN border-rock slide

Heading to Pigeon Forge in three weeks in our car so were heading thru Maggie Valley over Soco mountain to cherokee and then take 441 over the mountain to Pigeon Forge. If you in a car much better than 26-81.

RE: Winterizing and the water heater bypass valve

Another newby guy here... I am looking at winterizing my water sytem in the trailer (read first time ever) What is this tank and how should the position of the valves be? http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1600/822925/13210697/376441035.jpg I didn't see a drain on it. Also I was thinking of disconnecting the line that runs from the fresh water tank to the pump. Hook up a short peice of tube a draw RV antifreeze from a container with the pump and fill the system. There appears to be no filter in the system but there is a check valve on the inlet side of the pump. Does this sound like a good idea? In the spring will the pump reprime itself easily without damage to the pump? Your top and bottom valves need to be turned perpendicular to the lines (opposite of that they are now). The center valve needs to be parallel to the line (opposite of what it is now). This lets the Antifreeze flow thru the circular pattern on the left but not into either line going into or out of the hot water heater. The drain should be on the outside of the heater not on the inside. Usually a plastic plug that screws in. I just unhooked the hose running to the fresh water tank and used it to pull the antifreeze in. When I was finished hook it back to the fresh water tank.

RE: Mud Dauber screen for: (pic)

If you cant find one that works, maybe the home-made route will be the way to go. What you could do is buy some metal or aluminum screen at the local hardware store. Cut it to the shape of the chrome cover and screw it to the outside of the cover using the 4 screws currently holding the cover on. I know it might not look as pretty, but it would cover the large center hole and the smaller holes which you are also concerned about. You could also take a piece of black rubber hose and cut a slit down it, and wrap it around the screen giving it a cleaner edge. That is exactly what I did. I cut screen to fit the cover but keep nicking myself on the edges, so I bent the outside endges back inside the screen and it make a straight cleaner edge.

RE: How to miss Daytona 500 Traffic?

Any particular reason to take I-95 north to Western NC? No particular reason. We usually take the 77 - 26 - 95 route to florida. I'm game for any alternative routes.

How to miss Daytona 500 Traffic?

Heading to see Mickey Mouse in Feb. Will be going down on the Sat. before the 500 so should be okay then, but we're leaving on the Sat. before the 500 and the nationwide race is at 12:00 noon that day. Any shortcuts from WDW to get on 95 north of the I4/95 interchange. Just don't wanna waste hours sitting in race traffic with the long drive home ahead of us. Thanks

RE: How about those mortgage interest rates & CD rates?

ING Direct online is running a 12-Month CD paying 1.85%. Not great but better than most. Just bought one my little girl the other day. The savings acct. we had the money in was paying .10%.

RE: NADA rv pricing

I sold my 5'er in April of this year. NADA low retail was $13,500. I finally sold for $10,500 after 5 months. People wouldn't even call when I stated the price at $13,500.00! Only had two calls at $10,500 and second one bought on the spot.
