RE: RV's in a storm

The 1st year we were in our MH at Quartzsite we had sustained winds that clocked at 97mph. No issues. Just put the awning in and rocked a little. At that point there isn't anywhere to go.

RE: Kid almost abducted

I find the article to be likely. Also The article says she was 9 not five. Also would explain why she went to the restroom alone. Probably attends the elementary school across the street. We get reports like this quite often. Had a few this past school season. My Grandkids post em on my FB. Was a couple last year I think in Kalispell and Bigfork Mt. These creeps are everywhere.

RE: Update on Pinto the rescue dog

Congrats. We don't go very often without our two Chi's. Our Male we found out will sit and howl the hole time we are gone. Our Female is now PG and very close. But good luck. They are wonderful pets.

RE: Outdoor "decorative" lighting RANT!

I don't get it. When I get ready to hit the sack, You could have strobes going off outside. I wouldn't notice. Now when I am sitting around the campfire, and such I don't want bright lights. But I equally don't want loud music. Went fishing several years ago on opening weekend, and I swear it was louder than a keagor than when I was a teenager. I really don't like rv parks because of the lights. But if you want the ammenities its a trade off.

RE: Need Good Advice

My first suggestion is get out of NJ. Then like everyone else has said you need to rethink the tow vehicle. As I have seen a 5vr is about the most spacious. I am in a old MH and we do ok. It is not able to tow. Has only 63,000miles but going uphill I am lucky to get 35mph out of her. So towing something is out of the question. Wife follows in truck. Needless to say the fuel bill sucks. Hoping to change up this spring.

RE: Hosts needed in NE Washington

Just like yesterday. DW and I woke up and have been cooped up in our MH here in Oly. Decided to go for a drive. Did the Olympic Penninsula loop. Did a turn around at a spot by the lower Queets campground road and what did we see, a giant pile of tossed out garbage. When I see this I just want to throttle someone. There is really no reason. Several tires, empty fast food bags, close ect. and no it was not a pile from a road crew. I may look into these ops some of them up in Stevens County might be great for a few months this Summer.

RE: College Student & Full Time"RV" Living

I guess it boils down to none of us have done this? I boondocked for an entire summer in Portland Or. The only place we could put up a tent was 20 miles outside of town. 4hrs per day on the bus. Showers at flying J, 10.00/night, had to as I was doing construction and working under houses in the mud. The aspect of a cargo van, box truck is not going to go over very easily, as I stated they are really cracking down all over Thurston County for people trying to do exactly what he is thinking. So good luck.

RE: LED Lantern

I got two of those early last spring for camping. Got mine at Costco for 19.99. I think way better than the old propane.

RE: College Student & Full Time"RV" Living

Hey Grimm forgot to mention, Now you didn't say which school, but out toward Yelm on hgy 510 is The Redwind Casino, they allow for overnight, then south of oly is the Lucky Eagle, and out toward shelton is Little Creek. just a couple more options.

RE: To those that RV on a budget

Join Camp America. 40.00/year. Gives 50%off camp fees. You just have to plan a little bit. We did the same trip, and stayed at one in Lincoln city Or. One at Kalamath River in Cali, One about 400 miles south at Richardson Grove. Places your going to get nailed at are around the Bay area, and of course LA and Diego.

RE: KM Resorts

I wish that Camping World would send them down the road. I hate every time I walk in I get asked. I just tell them I don't go to parks like that.

RE: College Student & Full Time"RV" Living

Grimm I wanted to post a couple other things. As to the Wallyworld parking. Lacey has a no overnight restriction. I am not sure about the one on Trosper Rd, but knowing Thurston county the way I do I doubt they will allow it either. I had a couple friends of mine that came out from the Upper Penn of Mich. They had a Ford van they were sleeping in. Got pretty darn cold in there. I am in a 34foot class A and with two electric heaters I still run the furnace quite a bit. I am not saying you can't find a place to park at night, just that your going to have to do some research. So many local jurisdictions have put a stop to it because of the huge homeless population we have here. You may not be part of the problem but others are not going to see it that way. You might check into workcamping, there are places that will let you park so as to be a deterant to crime. You don't really do anything just be a presence, and call if there is a problem. Anyway good luck.

RE: MERRY CHRISTMAS

Had surgery 2 weeks ago on my neck, second one, go tomorrow for staple removal. Am looking forward to getting on with projects to get ready to get on the road again this spring. The Pain is what it is. My biggest motivation is getting out of this cold weather. Everyone Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and safe travels to all. Bill & Tammy Jones.

RE: College Student & Full Time"RV" Living

I live in OLY, also attended SPSCC back in the 80's. My first question is where are you planning on parking this van. Capitol Forest is closed during winter months. I can't think of too many places your going to be able to park where you are not going to get hassled. As to the Van Idea ok for stealth but you'll find that for the 5k budget you can easily find a good Class C. Heck I think I saw one for 100.00 on Craigslist yesterday. with another grand you would have a pretty decent home. There are two fairly cheap parks in town, both out by Black lake, One is Salmon Shores and can't remember the other. I believe about 350.00/month. Anyway good luck and safe travels.

RE: Black Tank & Toilet Paper

I worked at an rv resort that had a lot of Hispanic's up from the Bay Area. We would go through and put boxes in each stall before a big weekend. I was glad I was not on the crew to clean the toilets on a reg. basis. Shortly after we got our MH we were at a park in NW Montana. Went to drain tanks before we were leaving the next day, and had a wad of tp stuck in the tube. Tried the wire hanger which didn't work, ran 25miles to wally world and bought a flush hose. Cleared tube and all was well. Well wife went to the tp in the bag thing. We have had our differances over this. She now puts tp in toilet and other stuff in garbage. Currently we are at her uncles house and we use our blue boy, drain into it and pull over to there sewer clean out and dump. Don't have to many issues. Well we'll see this coming week as I just had surgery and won't be able to do it so she'll have to, and she has an extremely weak stomach.

RE: Potentially Moronic Question

I will say there is some people who just don't do the "outdoors". My older brother is this way. My Dad tried to take him when he was about 10. Did not go over so well. He retired about 10 years ago, bought a Bounder camped in his drivway for a few months. Went to an actual campground a couple times sold it to a friend. Both my wife and I grew up camping. Love every aspect, but unless your husband has some interest in weather people interacting, fishing, hiking, outdoor photography, or some other aspect he'll probably be a tough sell.

RE: ?? Physical exams at home for 85 yr old

If see is on medication I would guess they are checking her levels to see she is getting the proper dose. Also if she is on any narcotics again for same reason.
