RE: New Rv'r new RV what do you think?

Very nice TT.. Agreed, you will have no problems with that TV.
We were new as of this year. We purchased our TT (an 09 Sprinter) in March of 09. We pull it with a 2500 Ram V10 (non diesel :( ). This forum has been EXTREMELY helpful. Previously to this camper, I never pulled anything. Our first trip was to Florida.. Since then we have never looked back. Enjoy and be well. The little guy will be psyched! Mine was and still is.

RE: Dexter HD Suspension & EZ-Flex Install (long w/ pictures)

This is a REALLY STUPID question... What exactly does this do for the Camper? Does it provide a better ride? Does it beef up the suspension? does it help with bounce when going down the road? I truly do not kow what it does.. Can you provide insight?

RE: Best Route from Illinois to Florida avoiding mountains..

Here is the route we ended up taking... Yes Dothan was stop and go. Considering that this was our first trek pulling anything yet alone a 35 foot camper, it seemed to be the most prudent and sane course of action.
I found it to be very relaxing instead of going through Atlanta..
74 East
57 South
24 East
65 South
231 South from Montgomery to Dothan, AL
231 South to 10 East
10 East at Tallahassee to in to the “back road” 19 South which took us down to 75 South at Tampa, then 75 South down to exit 193 Venice

RE: Best Route from Illinois to Florida avoiding mountains..

For anyone who has ever seen the movie Natonal Lampoons Vacation, you would remember that when the Grizzwalds went on vacation everything that could go wrong DID go wrong. Everything from the Family Truckster (station wagon) to grandma dying on the trip… I am happy to report that we had no such bad luck.. Just the opposite, the trip went perfectly well without any problems.
We were originally planning to take off for Florida on Friday March 20th. As with most plans, we decided to deviate. Thursday night March 19th at 10:00 PM we loaded the Camper and hopped in the truck.. We headed out on the road. Zach, Pam and I were extremely excited. We drove for about 4 hours and hit southern Illinois where we decided to stop and Boon dock at a Wal-Mart. After a semi restful sleep, we hit the road again… We realized that we would hit our first planned stop (Nashville) WAY too early.. So we decided to push on and make it to our second day stop in Dothan Alabama (over 500 miles). In Dothan we stayed overnight at a great little place called Pecan Point. The owners at Pecan Point were extremely accommodating and helpful. They made themselves available after hours and made us feel extremely welcome. I would recommend this camp site for anyone traveling through Dothan.
On Day two our goal was to make it to Venice Florida. We were making good time, but realized that we would be arriving at our location after dark. We called the camp ground (Camp Venice Retreat) and explained that we would be arriving after hours and asked them what their procedures were for after hour arrivals. They did not have after hour accommodations and were quite inflexible nor did they care when we arrived. We decided to stay at a camp site called Quail Run Park in Wesley Chapel Florida.
When we arrived at Quail Run, they were very friendly and happy to see us. They are a HUGE RV park. They made us feel very welcome and comfortable. They had an escort take us to our camp site and he actually took time to talk with us. What a great place. There were lots of beautiful trees with the Spanish moss and a very comfortable camp ground. We would definitely recommend this location to anyone! After a good night sleep and good Dunkin Donuts coffee, we were ready to head out on Day 3. We are only 90 miles from Venice. We headed out at about 9:30 in the morning. Traffic was light we arrived at our final destination (Camp Venice Retreat) at about 12:30 in the afternoon. When we arrived we were assigned a site right on the Myakka River. Once setup, we went to visit family. In the event that you decide to visit Venice, I suggest you review their terms and policies. They do not allow ANY visitors for short term guests, they do not have after hour’s accommodations and the gentleman who was working behind the counter was extremely smug and condescending. They entire time we were there we did not feel welcome by the staff or management of the retreat. I would not recommend this park to anyone!
We enjoyed the time we spend together as a family on the road and camping in our new camper. The folks at Pontiac RV did a great job in making sure that the camper was in top shape for our trip. Everything worked perfectly without issue. I would also recommend the 09 Keystone Sprinter. This is a great camper for the entire family.

RE: Opinions wanted on 2009 Keystone sprinter 311BHS

Yesterday March 3rd we picked up our New 2009 Sprinter 311BHS. The day started very well and progressed just as well. We purchased our Trailer form Pontiac RV in Pontiac Illinois. Our walkthrough was very insightful. Mike did a fantastic job covering the mechanics or the rig in addition to providing some insight from his 15 years of experience with various types of RV’s and camping.
After the formal walkthrough, we went through the list of identified problems that have been called out on the RV.net forums.Mike addressed each of the issues one at a time and explained what Keystone has done to address the quality assurance issues. He also explained that his Service Team has a checklist they go through before the owner picks it up.In addition to wash, wax and clean the interior. During that time they also use water on the outside to see if there are any leaks around the slide or the window seals.
When we got home, we leveled the trailer and started to make sure we could run the various components. So far I have only found two things that do/did not work.
1.The cable to the TV was not connected.. Audio and power were, but the Antenna cable was not. I connected it and the picture came right up.
2.The remote (yes there is a remote) for the Awning, rear stabilizing, front stabilizing jacks does not work. I changed the Battery and no luck..
Nothing in this world is perfect, and I do expect issues to pop up.. However I am confident that the Service Dept at Pontiac RV will address them in the same professional and personable manner that they have so far.. I will keep you all updated as we progress.

Has anyone taken advantage of an extended warranty?

Looking to be proactive.. I still have well over a year before my warranty is over.. I wanted to know if anyone has purchased an extended warranty and if they are worth the money? I have been solicited by Good Sam and others. Any thoughts?

Tools and Extra parts for trip..

Ok folks, so far you have ALL been very helpful. I am hoping that you can provide some additional help for us...
We will be leaving for a trip to Florida.. I Have a 35foot Keystone Sprinter 311 BHS. Towing with a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 V10. I wanted to know what tools and "extra" TV supplies I should take with us in the event that something needs fixing on the road. The easy answer would be everything.. Not really an option realistically. I would like to know what you veterans typically see as a road warriors must have items..
Best Regards,
Jeff

RE: Opinions wanted on 2009 Keystone sprinter 311BHS

We have an 09 311BHS that we just bought! LOVE IT!!!
I took the trailer out for a test pull on Friday the 20th of Feb. I am driving a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 with a V10. The truck pulled it just fine. I was concerned about the weight. After pulling it, I am much more comfortable. I definitely know it was behind me, but the vehicle handled it just fine! Enjoy your new TT and let me know how you like it. We take possession of ours March 3rd... Happy trails..

RE: top 50 rv dealers

"These dealers were selected for outstanding personal customer service along with sound business practices and forward-thinking philosophies,” says Sherman Goldenberg, RV Business publisher."
Pontiac RV, Pontiac, IL.
Hope one of them is near you."
We just bought our new rig from Pontiac RV.. To this point they have been Very accommodating and helpful. I am always cautious and suspicious when I drop a large sum of money at one place.. So far I am VERY satisfied and a happy customer.. I will continue to update our experience as things progress.

RE: Sprinter 311BHS Dinette Bed

Boy after reading Blizzfam's post, we consider ourselves really lucky with our 2006 Sprinter 300FKMS. We only 2 little problems (window shade and sliding door)and the service guy fixed them the very same day at our site. Our trailer is still like new, but we do take very good care of it, also. Looking forward to more good years in it. But if need be, will get another Keystone.
I am happy to see that some folks are having success with their Keystone rig's.. we have not yet taken ownership of our rig, nor have we done our walk through. These are some of the things that I have come across in my research of the unit. I am compiling a spreadsheet to identify these items and check them when we go for our walk through. Please don't get me wrong.. WE ARE VERY EXCITED about this unit and the fun we will have. Professional hazard.
