RE: Seeking input from seasoned Class C owners

Go the extra money. Winnebago is a good product, far superior to Coachman in my opinion. Water leaks can be a nightmare to find and fix. If you plan to keep the coach for a while, you won't be sorry to go the extra.

RE: Which route through Canada going to alaska?

We went this spring across Alcan going up, no problems, lots of animals. Wanted to come down Cassiar, it was blocked by a Mud slide for a week, so we went back Alcan, broke windshield and almost caught in a forest fire.

RE: Trip to Minnesota and Canada

Nothing on CG's but prepare for $ 4.00 gas and very expensive everything else.
Find out about Vat tax refund before going to Canada.

I don't have a dog....BUT!!!!!!!!!

I have had several dogs over the years and the most important requirement I learned was that being the human, I had to be responsible. This meant:
1. Feed and water as needed.
2. Health care.
3. Lots of love and attention.
4. Training to make the dog pleasant and safe to be arround.
5. Most important of all, clean up after so others aren't
bothered by my choice to have a pet.
Number 5 is most important while traveling. I know all RV Net members are good about all of this, but in the last six weeks we have seen day after day people who don't know , don't care, or just too lazy to be responsible pet owners, leaving messes in places where people have to walk to enjoy the great out of doors. Please speak up if you see this in your travels and lets see if we can change some bad habits.

RE: Rinsing black tank through the stinky slinky?

You can fill the stinky slinky but you must have the open end higher than the tank level, no check valve in lines. Did it myself once when I had a clogged line, not plesant but works.

Mile 162 Alcan Camp Ground

I can reccomend the Sikanni River Campground and RV Park as a good place to stop on your trip to Alaska. We found friendly managers, reasonable rates and a good place beside a river to stop for a night.
Their policy is any night they have more than five campers, they have a drawing for a free nite of camping. We were the lucky winners the night we stopped.
Be careful of the gravel sections of the Alcan, we had six stone chips in our windshield and today one spread into a full fledged crack.

RE: Fuel prices rising???

Everything in Canada is very expensive. The construction areas resulted in atleast six stone chips to my windshield last week. Casiar closed for mudslide for several days, Alcan closed from time to time for forest fire. Gas increased 13 cents per liter over night.

RE: What kind of Jack do you carry"

What ever you decide to use, remember you must get it under the axle so don't get too big a jack. The blocks of wood would help if you had to drive up on them to get the jcak under. I have a 6 ton hydraulic which will lift nearly half of my 26 ft Aspect.

RE: Home dump station?

I would suggest you check a plumbing supply house and consider having a "p" trap as part of your set up to control odors.

RE: Going to Alaska

We are going to leave on Tuesday for our fourth trip to Alaska, second time driving. Never felt the need to join a tour, would rather be free to stop or go as we decide rather than at someone else's schedule. Get a good map and a copy of a guide book (such as Milepost)and you have all you need. Fall is better if you want to see northern lights, June is when you see lots of animals out of hibernation with new babies. Less or no flies in June. We plan to be in Alaska all of June. Going north via Calgary, Edmonton, and Alcan. Return via Cassiar, Banff etc.

RE: Newbie to Class C site - need info on Winnebago Aspect

You won't be sorry. We have a 26A and it has been the most trouble free MH we have had. Had a Monaco Diplomat and it was a night mare. We have had "0" problems with anything. The only thing DW complains about is faint ridges on ceiling where plywood seams show through the padding. Ours is an 07 model, we get 9-10 solo and 8+ towing a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Tons of storage everywhere you look. Can't say enough good about it so if you have specific questions, fire away.

Winnebago Aspect Magnadyne Radio

I decided to use the Sirius satellite connection on the factory provided Magnadyne radio for an upcoming trip to Alaska and am having a problem getting the Sirius mode to work. I have followed the directions in the owners manual but pushing Mode will not produce the Sirius designation as its supposed to. If I reset the radio, then push mode, "Sirius" will appear but pushing tune button to get to "direct" changes mode back to AM band. I am unable to register the radio with Sirius because I cannot get the registration numbers and probably wouldn't be able to use it if I could.
Anyone else have this problem or know of a solution. The other bands, Am, FM, and weather seem to work OK.
I am out of warranty on the rig and tried e'mailing Magnadyne with no result as yet.

RE: Ride Rite Air Bags - Is this right?

Check your directions carefully. I can't see your pictures, but when I installed mine on an 05 dodge 3500 ctd, I didn't have to drill holes. cant remember all but don't remember drilling anything except to install air lines in bumper.

RE: Going to Alaska in a Class C (30') recommendations

Plan lots of time, get guide book such as Milepost, plan to drive 12,000 miles, be in Alaska June if you want to see lots of animals out of hibernation, no flies, and spring flowers at end of month. Long distances to drive, beautiful scenery, 22-23 hours of daylight. We are leaving May 12 from Mi., going to a wedding in Tn. then on to Alaska. 26 ft "c" winny Aspect.

RE: Scissor jacks vs. bottle jacks for stabilization

I went to a junk yard and bought a couple screw jacks for vans for twenty bucks and used them on wood blocks. Didn't have to worry about them leaking down, worked good.
