I just bought an 01 Excursion for about $10k. Very clean, Ltd edition, lots of seats, 3/4 ton chassis and a big (albeit thirsty) motor. Just about everything you'll need. There are many more of these out there than 3/4 ton 'burbs. At least that's what I found. Good luck.

Update - Well we came to agreement on the price and I brought it home Tuesday. So far all is good, although I am starting to uncover some small issues. Honestly, I've enjoyed spending the last few nights tinkering with it in the garage. Thanks for all the input.

We love ours. An SCT tuner from 5 Star really woke the truck up. We lucked out and it came with the 4.30 gears. Pulls the TT how ever fast you want to go. Gas mileage drops just as fast. LOL I averaged about 7.5 towing before the tuner and 8-8.5 since. Only reason I see to get rid of it would be to go to a 5er sometime in the future. I gave about 2 grand less for mine 5 years ago. Thanks for all the great info. I plan to do the Hellwig and shocks in the near future. I am supposed to pick it up after work tomorrow. Excited, but will miss my beast of a truck. I camped this weekend and saw 2 X's pulling large campers.
