RE: Loose gravel on roads, what a horrible road repair

At least they were trying to repair them. We just came through Colorado and the condition of the Interstate is terrible. Ive seen roads in 3rd world countries that were in better repair. There were signs saying they were spending "stimulus money" on the roads but it sure wasn't going to do the highway any good.

Road recommendation

Hi All,
I will be traveling west on I 70 from Denver to join I 15 north to Salt Lake City and then on to Boise, Id. on I 84. My question is, what is the hwy 50 like from I 70 at Salina, Ut. to I 15 at Scipio, Ut. It looks like a good shortcut rather than going way south and then turning north. Am I missing something? Is there any other suggestions that I haven't noticed? DP with a Tow dolly.
Thanks,
Jim

Which is most scenic?

Hi All,
I'm looking for some suggestions for the most scenic route from Boise, Id down through Utah and then on to south Texas. I will be returning to Tx. about the 3rd week in Sept. and would like to take the most scenic route without spending too much time out off the route. That's for next summer, or spring. I don't want to risk getting snowbound so I'm hesitant to take I 70 thru Colorado. 01 Monaco dynasty with a tow dolly.
Thanks,
Jim

RE: generator shutting down

I had a similar problem, but when I tried to restart, it would immediately die. It displayed a "blink code of 27" and that translated to either an open in the stator windings or replace the controller. Well, the stator windings were OK, the correct resistance and no leakage to ground. I ordered a new controller, $1500.oo and that cured it. I opened the cover on the controller box and it had some corrosion near the center of the computer board, near one of the relays, as if there had been some water inside at some time.
I hope you have better luck. I am trying to find if the company that refurbishes these units will buy my dead one for a core charge so I can mitigate some of the loss.

What gear at Highway speeds?

With all the discussion about highway cruising speeds etc, I have a couple questions for some of the "technical experts". I have a 40' DSDP and it has a 350 ISC with the Allison tranny. How do I know what gear I am in at any given time? The pushbutton panel always indicates "6". At what speed does the tranny shift to 6? When using the economy mode, how much does that lower the shift points? I can see that driving 60 might be more MPG, but if you are still in 5th than maybe not.

Jim

Weather conditions

Hi All,
We are going to be in lower Idaho the 2nd and 3rd week of Sept. Then we intend to head back to Texas. Is this usually still safe from winter snow storms in this area? WE hope to return through Utah and sightsee on the return trip.
Thanks,
Jim

RE: Monaco Coach writes it's final chapter

The Roadmaster chassis was jointly owned by Monaco and Navistar. Is there any reason to think that it will be discontinued? They already make the workhorse series and others.

What would constitute a failure to pass the test??? This sounds like another money grab.

7500 quiet diesel error codes

I am having problems with my genset. It starts quickly but shuts off immediately. It is a 7500 diesel with 3K hours. I get a blink code of "3" service req'd. Secondary code of "27", no signal from stator, or controller in trouble. I have measured the resistance of the 6 stator leads, and all are OK or not open. The fuel pump runs. I have changed the fuel filter twice just in case. I am about to order the controller. Have any of you ever had to change the controller??? This genset worked OK about 4 or 5 weeks ago. HELP!!!

A/C Expansion Valve

I need to replace the expansion valve on my dash A/C. I am having a hard time finding the replacement. It is a Parker Hannafin 134 112 but I can't find that number. Perhaps someone on this forum has knowledge of a replacement number for the valve. This is on a '01 Monaco dynasty.

A/C Expansion Valve

I need to replace the Parker Hannafin A/C expansion valve, pn 134 112. I searched the archives but I couldn't find where anyone had done this. Do any of you have any idea where I can locate one of these valves. I have someone to pump the system down after I change it. This is on a '01 Monaco Dynasty.

TV interlock 2001 National

I am trying to help my friend with his Class A. He wants to bypass the interlock that turns off the TV outlet when the key is turned on. He doesn't want to drive with it on, but when he routinely starts the engine, or changes the levellers, it turns off the satellite system and it has to go through the whole routine of locating the satellites. Can anyone tell me how to bypass the interlock? Is there a relay in the forward wiring compartment that controls it? Please help me help him as he is laid up with broken ankles and leg.

Jim

RE: Cummins lift pump, time to replace.

Now that I have read of two instances of lift pump replacement and trying to be proactive. I have an '01 with an ISC, and I am considering getting a lift pump to carry as a spare. Is this practical, and how much does the pump cost from Cummins? Is this something that is easily changed with normal tools? I have not seen any weepage or any other indication of failure but I am anal about maintenance and would like to stay ahead of the curve.

Slide out manufacturer

Can anyone tell me who makes the rear slide out mechanism in the Monaco coaches? I am having trouble with the rack and pinion. The gear jumps off the rack at the end of the travel, and the slide won't extend fully.

RE: Brake Controller - 2002 Natianal RV Islander

My neighbor has a 2001 Islander and we found a wire that was run for the electric brakes. It was attached to an air brake operated switch in the front, with the genset pulled out, on the drivers side. There are 2 switches side by side, one is for the brake lites. We disconnected it and spliced into it there and ran the end to the controller. It is a yellow wire, about 10 or 12 gauge, and it was taped off in the rear, above the cross member for the hitch. We found it with a beeper and tracer. YMMV.

Motorhome Insurance

I am about to begin shopping for insurance renewal and I have been reading another thread on different types of coverage. Are there any true "Agreed Value " policys available? I am quite familiar with these on my trawler motoryacht. Basically, I pick a value and pay so much per thousand for coverage, with guidance from a "Blue Book" value guide. If there is a total loss, they pay the agreed value, no deductible in most cases. Is there any type of similar coverage for motorhomes?
Thanks,
Jim

RE: Quiet Diesel Glow Plugs

The model is: 7.5HDKAJ11451F, SERIAL # A000052385. I hope you can get the print. I really need the service manual, but I may be able to work on this with just the diagram.

Quiet Diesel Glow Plugs

I am trying to find out why my glow plugs do not come on during preheat. I have checked the lack of voltage at the plugs, and checked the fuse, its good. The plugs check OK resistance wise. Does anyone have any info or wiring diagram of the control box in the front of the generator fan??
Thanks,
Jim
