It's not a cheap fix, but I had a welder that knew what he was doing install a 2" receiver on the back of the trailer. Because of the slide he couldn't make it as strong as one with out a slide. It's rated at 300 lb tongue weight and 3000 gross trailer weight. With a cargo platform it hauls the bikes we need or a generator, golf clubs, it's handy. My tongue weight is so high it does not effect handling at all.
