RE: Breakfast with Bobby Allison

After my posting above, we were eating supper, and I unfortunately left out Clifford Allison. I certainly knew better.

RE: Breakfast with Bobby Allison

In 1978 we were camping at Talledega. Day tripping out we drove over to Hueytown. Stopped at the post office for directions and the lady at the counter said "wait a couple of minutes and follow me there". It was his wife Judy. So we did and got the full shop tour. We will never forget the big Coca Cola sign out in front of the shop which was his sponsor at the time. Simply put, one class act along with Mom and Pop Allison, Donnie, Davy, Red Farmer, and Neil Bonnet. Glad your timing was good!

RE: Overnight stop between Twin Falls and Salt Lake area

SteveAE, I had brain fade. But getting to US 93 RV park is easy now. As you come across the Perrine Bridge (Snake River)turn right at the traffic light at McDonalds/Costco. This is a 6/4 lane road past Wally Super Center and the new hospital. 4 lane to US 93/US30 intersection, the 2 lane down to the RV park.

RE: Overnight stop between Twin Falls and Salt Lake area

If you don't need hook-ups, American Falls. Exit 40 I-86, take Rt. 39 thru town towards Aberdeen. On the right just after going across the bridge is the Bureau of Reclamation bldg. There is a huge driveway on the north side of building that goes into a huge grael lot. Picnic tables. 14 day free. Nice and level. We usually do several nights there and there is a boat ramp.

RE: Rv Park in Idaho Falls, Idaho ?

We never stay in IDF proper. We always use the North Bigham County RV park in Shelley. Nice place and a poster above referred to it.

RE: Rt 12 West of Lolo Mt

Several miles out of Lolo there is a sign on the right side of US 12 going west for the Lumberjack Saloon. It is worth the trip of about 2 miles back a good gravel road to check the place out. Neat place. wwww.lumberjacksaloon.com

RE: Tailgate replacement ideas pleas

I would have my stock tailgate "veed" by a body shop. Have them move the opening handle offset to one side. There are some body shops in some areas that do this. They look good and still have use of a "real tailgate" to haul stuff or use as a work table. Louered gates and I don't get along real well. I also believe Dodge is going to have a "veed" tailgate on some of the new heavy duties.

RE: NASCAR vs NHRA

FRANCECAR may not have won the ball game, but I'll guarantee they won the PR game.

RE: Form of payment for annual sites

Cash or check, this outfit doesn't accept credit, debit cards, etc.

RE: Campground hosts please comment on this

We frequent a Forest Service cg in Montana. At that cg, there are a number of sites that are reservable. Then there are some that are "grunt and growl", first come, first served. We usually arrive Monday or Tuesday and have no problem. Max out our 14 days.

RE: Refurbished Inverters

Yep, just installed mine 2 weeks ago. Now if you are in Calif. you will be charged state sales tax. They are in Thousand Oaks, CA. and ship out of Murrieta, CA. Sorry about the screwed up link. The price had been $1171 for awhile but then went to $12 something that I paid.

RE: Refurbished Inverters

If you are interested in a Magnum 2012, go to imarine.com. New, best price I found.

RE: Costco vs Sams Club 6V Golf Cart Batteries

Boy, if I could find them here in AZ. for $80.00 I'd even pay the sales tax. Fortunately some places here are set-up for signing an affadavit that if used on a solar system, you pay no sales tax. But $80.00 bucks!

RE: Idaho Falls Bridge Clearance

I do know that the picture on business US 20 doesn't include a picture of the sign just to the left in the vegetation for the "Chuckarama", a buffet beside the Wally Super Center in Ammon! Good eating!

RE: Dick's Towing Yuma - GREAT SERVCE

Elizibeth24, nice post. Folks here in the park in the Foothills often have Dick's move sheds for them from one park to another etc. They bring a rollback and do an excellent job. Dick Rautenburg(sp) is the owner and a terrific community minded gentleman. When an 18 wheeler has an accident and is loaded with food, after the insurance company signs off on the deal, he contacts one of the missions in town and donates the food. Several years ago, one of the non-profit organazations in Yuma was out of money for a spaghetti dinner that feeds folks that are down on their luck. Dick walked in and asked how much they needed to keep going, reached in his pocket and kept them going. He also has been known to take care of folks whose car has broken down and may be low on funds and helps them out. He was "Man of the Year" in Yuma a couple of years ago for his doings. Also, Dick is in the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame for years of auto racing and winning many races. Wonderful person!
