RE: why did you go with a Class C?

DW didn't like the huge windshield and sitting further away in a class A. Our next one will be a class A cause now she wants more legroom up front .

RE: West Florida Coast to John Pennekamp State Park in Key Largo

The simplest way would be I-75 to Turnpike to US-1 in Florida City. We always take I-75 to exit 101, 951 to US-41, US-41 to 997 (Krome Ave) 997 ends at US-1 in Florida City. Its shorter, less traffic, no tolls, and much more scenic. They were putting in a bridge on 41 just west of 997 and traffic was down to 1 lane, but I read it was completed.

RE: Suggestions for Destruction Bay

We really enjoyed our stay at Cottonwood RV Park - friendly folks, beautiful location. Ditto we stayed there twice. As I recall they only have 15A power , if that makes a difference.

RE: 30 Thousand Islands

Can't help you with a CG but the Big Chute marine railway on the Trent Severn waterway is great and very scenic. And an island cruise out of Perry Sound.

RE: Jacksonville, Fl. Traffic ?

Straight thru is ok. I prefer the new Eastern 9-a, 295 bypass. Much nicer scenery and all new smooth road. DO NOT take the western bypass. Ditto

RE: Dinghy or No Dinghy

We have gone to Alaska twice without the toad, and didn't miss it much. We do have bikes to go shopping etc when in one place for a while. We won't take the toad on our next trip there either.

RE: Struts to hold bed up for storage

broom handle will work but I was afraid that I might kick it and have the bed fall on me. So I went to the RV place and bought a table leg that when you push the little button it unfolds and then refolds into the storage position. It locks in place so I don't have to worry any more. Ditto

RE: Winter home in Florida question

We have a humistate on our AC, which we set to 60% when we are gone (3-5 Mo/Yr). We shut off the water at street. We leave fridge on but nothing in it that would spoil if power is lost. We make the house as if a hurricane were coming, shutters up and everything put away. Our yard is pea rock so I only have to deal with the weeds when we return.

RE: Association Island 1000 island area??

We were there in early September 2011 - NO bugs - NO algae - just a really beautiful place - we loved it. As posted above, there is no shopping anywhere nearby, so you need to go there fully equipped, or plan on putting miles on your car. Friendly staff; clean bathhouse; beautiful views; lots of places to walk your dog if you have one. Ultimate relaxation! Ditto We were there in Aug 2010 and Sep 2012 and will return.

RE: New RV Park in Key Largo, Fl.

Tell me if I'm wrong, but this looks like the old America Outdoors campground that closed several years ago because they were going to build condos on the site. If it is we paid about $90.00 per night including tax in April of 2003. No ... nothing is cheap in the Keys. No, It is about 1.5 miles north of the old America Outdoors. On the bayside too.

RE: Need international drivers license for Fla.?>
