RE: Best Route to Sedona
Instead of climbing to about 7000 feet at Flagstaff, turn off at Ash Fork az (hwy 89 ) take this south for about 45 miles ,1/2 way between Chino Valley & Prescott Az, you will see a freeway ( this is a bypass around Prescott & Prescott Valley ) turn left on this Hwy 89a Freeway , at end of the freeway ( about 8 or 10 miles) the hwy splits Hwy 89a to the left ( Do Not Take This) take the right fork ( Fain Road ) take Fain Rd to Hwy 69 turn left on hwy 69 ,go to 2nd or 3rd Light turn left (hwy 169 ) take hwy 169 to I17 , take I17 to hwy 260 (Camp Verde , left on Hwy 260 to Cottonwood, turn right on hwy 89A to Sedona Az , this part of 89A is good road.
It shorter this way & no mountain to climb , all good 2 lane road , a few hills.
Bob & Judy
PM us if more ?
P.S. the drive north of Sedona on 89A without the RV is great
RE: Info on Yarnell / Peeples Valley Az. area?
I think you wanted 21 F not -21 F .
it was a low of 26 F here , 3 days ago here in Chino Valley ( but it is a dry COLD)
the cold in Wa.is a very damp cold that goes right thru you , we lived in OLYMPIA wash. before moving here
Sounds like you will like Peeples Valley better than Port Orchard. Consider:
Comparison Weather Facts
* Yarnell, AZ on average is warmer than Port Orchard, WA by 9°F.
* Yarnell, AZ recorded the highest temperature of 105°F in 1925.
* On average Yarnell, AZ is cooler than Port Orchard, WA by 5°F.
* The lowest temperature, -21°F in Yarnell, AZ, was recorded in 1937.
* On average, Port Orchard, WA is wetter than Yarnell, AZ by 34.8in.
..Good Luck....Dennis Thanks Dennis, I really enjoyed your posts over the years! I missed your post because we were typing at the same time. Were going to keep our home in Port Orchard and live there May thru October. I'm into warmth more than cold so I'm thinking of moving more west toward Quartzsite. John
RE: Las Vegas

RE: Info on Yarnell / Peeples Valley Az. area?
there is a small RV/mobile home park in Yarnell ,we have been past in many times looks ok from the hiway.Yarnell is a nice small town.
all that is in Peeples Valley is a small Gas station/grocery store, & horse Ranches
we go thru there on the way to Yuma.& Calif.
maybe someone can tell you better
Bob & Judy
RE: want to travel the southwest
Also check on the hiway first , as we have many hiways in Az that has too many curves & too narrow for a 33 ft fiver & truck.
hwy 89A from Prescott to Cottonwood - Hwy 89A from Sedona to Flagstaff - Hwy 89 from Prescott south to Wilcox - Hwy 66 from Kingman to Oatman
to name a few
But trere is a lot to see outhere

RE: 1977 Southwind....
Hi I did not see where you get 5 mpg.
but our 86 Pace Arrow 34. ft Chev. 454 get 6.2 mpg ,uphill or downhill, towing a car or not towing a car, we still avg 6.2
good luck

RE: For those that pull through Illinios
we always travel between 55 & 65 mph ,depending on wind & wind & weather.
as I do not pay myself by the mile.
by the way I mad a good living when the speed limit was 55 MPH driving truck in CA.
Bob & Judy
RE: California speed limit
even here in Az. where the Az Hiway Patrol dont care how Fast you fly, we was between 75 & 80mph in the car we had 3 Semi pass us like we was standing still they had to be doing over 90 mph.
but anyway here in AZ. I drive the Motorhome between 55 & 60 mph, plus I enjoy driving in Calif. even with the traffic

RE: Phoenix to Cottonwood
Hi
both ways are good , # 1 is a lot better hwy 260 to hwy 89a to Page Springs rd. The driveway in to Lolomia Springs will be on the left side of the rd. and will be a lot easer to make the turn into the park.
We stay all the time at Page Springs R V park 2 or 3 miles more down the roadBob & Judy
RE: California speed limit
If you can not drive the Speed Limit PAY the ticket.
I would like to see Calif. speed laws here in Az.
we live in AZ , the speed limit here is way too High here for car & RV & Semi's, everyone thinks that can drive 10 OR 15 miles over the speed limit.
We have way to many single car or truck accidents here cause by SPEED.
I think all of our city police & Hiway Patrol are in a coffee shop somewhere , we live in a small town on a main Hiway speed limit is 45 mph , all the cars & trucks do 55 to 65 mph, we asked a officer one day about the speeders and was told they dont stop them unless they are over 15 mph over the speed limit ( Why Even Have A SPEED limit)
We dont use the Freeways any more than we have to as we are not in that big of a hurry
RE: Highway 95 south of Vegas to Palm Springs CA
You Do Not Want to buy GAS in Needles Ca Or Blythe Ca.OR Vidal Junc.
there is a Gas station just east of Needles a the Hwy 95 turnoff.
and just E. of Blythe Ca past the River
Can anyone tell me what the route is like down highway 95 to highway 63?west and down to Palm Springs? They have said going through 29 Palms is not too good either but to cut off and you come down to I-10 and then into Indio etc.
Your opinions would be appreciated if this is a good road to take or any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Toban
There are two 95 highways. The Ariz. side and the Calif. side. The Calif. side goes through Needles and then straight down to I-10. Both are good RV roads. The Calif. side is probably more direct although it is a 2 lane road with some curves, dips and not much to see. If you choose this side be sure you top off with fuel in Needles. The Ariz. 95 is a much more scenic drive, going around Lake Havasu and then through a little town called Parker ending up at Quartsite and I-10. From here you are a couple of hours from Indio. Parker has a Casino "Blue Waters" which will allow you park overnight free in their parking lot. Good food! I prefer the Ariz. 95.
RE: Emergency Road Service
We have had Good Sams/Camping World ERS for many years, have had to use them 3 times 1 time for car ,2 times for Motor Home and very happy with them, the last time they sent a big tow truck over 50 miles to us and found a rv shop that could take us right in 40 miles further down the hiway

RE: China into RV's - Yeah
It's not just WalMart, you can not go to any store ,Home Depot,Sears Target,Ect,Ect. AND buy made in US ,Tools , Clothing, Small elect. Items,& Large elect. items ,T.V., Plywood I could go on & on
Any more we even check can goods & food items
MY 2 Cents
Bob & Judy
We need to TAX the US co. that have gone overseas to get them back here
Although I certainly consider price when making a purchase, I won't be buying anything like an RV or a car from China. Look at their track record with tires, valve stems, toys, drywall, food products, pet food, furniture, paint, and on and on.
Agreed.
I also agree with Homer's assessment that much of the "made in China" stuff is from US companies operating there.
I don't buy anything that says 'made in China,' period. And, no, I don't care how cheap Wal-Mart sells it.
RE: Grand Canyon to Yuma
Hi
Hwy 89 from Ash Fork to Prescott is good Road. you do not want to take hwy 89 from Prescott to Wilholt. to bypass this section as you leave Chino Valley at the RoundAbout ..Outerloop rdturn right ,go to Williamson valley rd. turn left on Williamson valley rd. stay on this road till you get to the ..T.. Skull Valley rd . this will take you through Skull Valley & Kirkland and back to Hwy 89 about 15 miles this side of Yarnell
This is the we go all the time with the car or motormome to Yuma , Ehrenburg , & So.Calif.
