RE: Little tiny bumps on wall????

We had that and I cut one open and found saw dust under the paper. Looked like they just wallpapered over it and did not clean the wall off first. Never got better or worse so just let the bumps be.

RE: cardinal vs big horn vs big country

We have been full time for 6 years and have had both a Cardinal and two Big Horns. We recently traded from a 36 foot Big Horn to a 40 foot model 3685. We were actually quite happy with all three units. I believe your selection between the two can be based on floor plan. The Big Country is a small step down from the Big Horn but still a nice unit. If you study the units, you will see that they all use the same component parts. Norcold or Dometic fridge, Dometic or Thetford toilets, etc. We purchased all three of our units from RVCAPITALWHOLESALERS. We had the Cardinal and the first Big Horn delivered to us but this last unit we went to Elkhart to pick it up. Took the factory tour while there. We were impressed with the tour.

Ladder

We have two screws out of the hold off brackets on our back ladder. Does anyone know how to replace those since we see no way to get to the nut part that these screws go into. I guess they fell down into the hold off bracket.

RE: Fulltimers: What type of rig do you have?

I would suggest you get the largest thing you can afford right off the bat. You will only be trading if you get something too small.

RE: Big Horn 5th wheel

We now have our 2nd Big Horn and have lived in both full time. Had the first for 4 years and traded for the current rig. Wanted bigger slides, a double fridge and an icemaker. We are happy with our rig. All RV's have problems so don't expect to have a complete smooth sail. However, we have been happy with the customer service.

RE: Water pouring out at fresh tank

I have seen that on our RV also. I asked the technician and he said it was the overflow drain. Depending on how you are angled, it will flow out. Seems to be holding when we are parked so I am just "going with the flow".

RE: Shower in RV [survey]

You need to realize that if we have a full hook up site, we can shower as long as the hot water lasts. The key to shower length is not the hot water as much as the holding tank. When we do not have a sewer connection and must hold our waste water for days, the length of the shower shortens so we can hold longer by using less water. We have a gas/electric hot water heater that is 10 gallons. With a flash hot water heater and a full hookup site (ie one with sewer hookup) the length of the shower is almost unlimited.

RE: Pimples in wall paper

We had this on a wall and when I opened one of the pimples to see what was behind I found sawdust. Looked like the manufacturer did not clean the wall off in that area before putting the wallpaper on. I just left it alone and lived with it. Was not water damage. I would think water damage would show a big spot not little pimples.

RE: dual pane windows & weight

Our first 5th wheel had them. This one does not. I notice no difference. We decided to save on the cost and the weight and glad we did. By the way, when they fog up it is expensive to have them replaced.

RE: Norcold code L1. OP how to fix

Go to the back of the fridge. Open the panel and you will see a red light on a black box. Place a magnet under the red light and it will go off and the fridge will come back on. This is what the mechanic did to ours. There is a problem with the recall box. We did this and never had another problem in a year.

RE: Slow Cooker Recipes

frozen chicken breast, 2 cans golden mushroom soup, block of cream cheese, package of Italian dressing mix, 1/4 cup butter, 1/4 cup wine, chives and minced onion. Mix all but chicken together in a pot and heat until melted. Pour over chicken in crock pot and cook 6 hours. Serve over noddles, mashed potatoes or rice.

RE: RV storage around Sun City West, az

We left ours for four months at a storage facility near the 303 on Northern. Also just down from where we stay for the winter is a good facility called Coyote Storage on El Mirage Road. Very close to Sun City West.

RE: HELP! I-10 from Pensacola w to NewOrleans

Meaher State Park in Alabama has new full hook up sites. Looks like a nice park and not too far out of your way. Also Black Water River State Park now has full hookup sites. Just east of Pensacola in Milton.

RE: 2 Mths in New Zealand & Australia

My husband and I are full time rvers. Two years ago we stored our RV and flew to Christchurch. We elected not to rent a camper van but rented a car and spent two months in NZ. We took the ferry from the south to the north island. Then we flew from Auckland to Melbourne, Australia and rented another car and spent two months in Australia. We spent many nights in campgrounds in the cabins they have. These have a bathroom and a small kitchen. Also, every campground has a communal kitchen and of course bathroom facilities. The reasons we did not rent a camper van were the cost of the van was about twice that of a car and still had to pay for the campsites. Also, we love to hike and did not want to leave all our belongings at a trailhead in a van. Also, did not want to always have to unhook to tour the area. We met many people who did rent vans. Some never used the cooking facilities or bathrooms in the van due to the high humidity. Also the campervans in NZ and Australia do not have holding tanks but cassettes that you must dump by hand much like a portable toilet. We carried our belongings in the trunk and backseat of the car and bought a small cooler after we arrived. We could then leave our personal things in the cabin while touring. If you want more info on great places not to miss, just send me a private message.

RE: Refrigerator Fault Code L1

We had an L1OP fault on our Norcold last summer. It was 112 degrees outside. We called a technician and he told us to open the back of the fridge and see if the red light was on on the black box. It was. Told us to place a magnet under the red light. We did and the light went off and the fridge started working and has worked now for 8 months with no problem. A friend of ours had the same problem, took the RV in and they also did the magnet trick. Try that.

Looks to me like the above is associated with Passport America since you receive a discount for being a member. We started with Good Sam and when converted to American Home Base have seen no difference. Great service and alot cheaper than myrvmail.
