RE: WHAT'S YOUR IDEAL MOTOR HOME / RV CAMP GROUND.......

I think most people did not read the OP. He is asking what would you like if you were building an RV Park. It is kind of hard to build a State Park in the boonies if you are building an RV Park.
Wide sites!!! There are already too many of those 20Xxx site that your slides are on your neighbors patio. We have left more than one of those narrow spaced parks and will never return. Build wide sites for today's RV's instead of the 1970"s RV's.

RE: Thievery at my Storage Site!

I found the solution to security in my area. I rented part of an aircraft hanger at a private airport. Same price as the RV storage lot, but much more secure. I am completely inside with electric and water.

RE: Licensing an RV in Montana

Brew a pot of coffee and enjoy the post regarding Montana LLC's
I did one and it worked out great for me. I live in a state that is VERY LLC friendly, other states are not so LLC friendly.

RE: What would you do?

Did your friends have a written agreement with the bank that the loan pay down would would hold off the foreclosure, or did they simple make up the back payments for the kids? The only way out that I can see is hide the MH in Mexico then beat the heck out of the kids.
Is the house loan upside down as well as the MH? Even if they declare bankruptcy, it won't hold off the foreclosure, they don't own the house.

RE: When Is Windshield Crack Too Large?

In Florida that would be a new "free" windshield compliments of the insurance company. We are lucky here in FL., we have full windshield coverage with no deductible, state law.

Mine had about 10,000 miles on it before I had it fine tuned and all of the bugs worked out of it.

RE: Soft PVC in diesel tank

Excellent! idea Brett. You always come up with a good solution.
Thought of something else. If you can access where the filler tube goes into the tank, remove the hose. That is a large enough access that you should be able to easily use a coat hanger to fish out the hose-- even if the tank is full.
PS: Tie a string around the end of the coat hanger and secure to the frame so you don't use your coat hanger.

RE: Rain water in storage bays

I had the problem with mine when it was new. The fix was two things. If the water is in the front of the compartments, adjusted the striker plate (U bolts on mine) to pull the doors tighter making a better seal on the front. If the water is in the rear of the compartment, then underneath the MH the frames for the compartments will be angle iron. I bought a couple of cans of spray foam and foamed all of my compartment frames. After the foam dried I rattle canned the foam with flat black and it looks factory.
That was 6 years ago and the leaks have not re-appeared.

RE: Insurance question on a Motorhome.

I would be asking that question to your insurance company. They are the only one that can give you the "correct" answer. It would seem to me that a "salvage title" could only get liability insurance, but then that is only my opinion.

RE: Performing DP chassis/engine/generator maintenance

Hopefully you received all of the owners manuals with the MH. It will take and entire evening to go through all of the manuals and make a list of what needs to be serviced. There are so many items, like air dryer filters, hydraulic fluid change and filter, rear end grease change, that I am sure not every items could be remembered by those of us on this forum.
It might be helpful to make up a list and store it in your computer so you know when and what maintenance is due. My list was already in my chassis owners manual from Spartan, so I printed out several copies to use as check sheets.
Good luck and enjoy the the new MH.

RE: Best Price on Michelin Tires

I got a fairly good price on mine at Boulevard Tire, 7051 Alico Rd Ft, Myers. 239-267-4701. They WILL deal for cash and the shop and mounting crew were top notch. They are a truck tire shop and have a lot of experience with MH's.

RE: 340 cummings DP

Is "above address" in a warm humid climate? If so, a dehumidifier is a must. If not, mold will be growing in a short period of time. I had that problem the first year I stored mine.

RE: Tow bars vs Tow Dolly

Check the Dingy Towing forum. Lots of discussion on this topic. To catch up on older post, try the "search" at the top on the page. I think you will find most prefer 4 down, but many use a dolly to tow what they may already own that is not towable 4 down.

RE: Lighter vs heavier toads?

With a DP you will not see any difference towing between the two. I went down from a 4,400 Liberty to a 3950 Tacoma and I can't tell any difference between the two.

RE: New Format

You can "right click" to go forward or backwards.
But that aside, the GoodSam's ads to the right are a little annoying. Kind of like our mail boxes being full of GS junk mail every time we open it.
I agree also. It is a pain to have to scroll to the top of the page to go forward or backward.

RE: 2005 Chevy Tahoe 4 Down Towable?

Having just switched to a mid-size truck for a toad, it's the BEST move we ever made. I also had a Z-71 but to heavy to tow, 5,900 lbs empty. The Tacoma weighs 3950 loaded. As you said the trucks are great for hauling all of the fun stuff for a trip. I carry a blow up boat for fishing. The boat and fishing gear all go in the back of the truck with plenty of room. I also do a lot of water metal detecting. When finished, all of the sandy gear goes in the back of the truck leaving the inside nice and clean for the wife.
Be sure that the S-10 you look at is towable, some models require a drive shaft disconnect, just like my Tacoma did.
It would be nice to tow something I already own, but I think the Tahoe might be stretching it a little. I am going to be on the lookout for something like a 2000 - 2004 Chevrolet S-10. It would be nice to have a towable that can haul something, like bikes or mopeds or groceries...
What do you think? Good idea, bad idea? :B

RE: Tires

Having owned Corvettes for 30 years, I would NOT put a fiberglass Vett on a dolly. The slightest mistake, rough road, bouncing is going to do MAJOR damage to the Vett. In addition the Vett is probably going to sit to low to the ground to be towed on a dolly. If it is a nice Vett, enclosed trailer is they way to tow the Vett.
