RE: KQ Ranch in Julian Ca

My parents took my nieces up this past week for Spring Break. Saw lots of pics on FB...apparently there are a ton of activities for kids to do: swimming, tennis, crafts, air hockey, bounce house, miniature golf. My 6 year old niece was devastated to leave because they host a big egg hunt on Easter. We've never been there, but my mom likes to go there for a close camping trip. I believe they have fishing too, not sure.

RE: Must Have Boondocking Survival Items?

We are on our second one over the past 8 or 9 years. We've picked up both from CostCo. The first one lost it's ability to charge because we left it in the garage...the heat ruined it. So, now we are sure to bring it inside. Yup, our batteries have been totally dead. The first one we owned was Battery Buddy and the new one we have doesn't have a name on it, but it's pretty hefty and it's lime green.

RE: winching your toy or motorcycle in and out

My husband recently installed a winch under our stairs. He didn't have anything good to mount to so he made a new cross beam and bolted it on. The winch bolts go through the floor and though the metal beam. He got his winch from Harbor Freight.

RE: What did you do to your Toy Hauler today???

Installed an inverter so we don't have to turn on the genny to watch TV in our bedroom. Fixed the toilet and kitchen sprayer...apparently it froze long enough to do some damage. Installed winch under stairs. Made cover for gas thingy in rear of garage out of diamond plate. Replaced the flooring for the second time...this time with a sheet vinyl instead of stupid peel & stick. Put down new baseboard to hide the edges of vinyl. Replaced carpet in bedroom, hallway & stairs.

RE: 7.3L tuners & fuel economy

It totally depends on how you drive. I'm not sure what our mileage normally is, husband is aware of that...but seems like you have to keep it under 2000rpm to get decent mileage and that is really slow and it pisses people off. I once drove from Phoenix to San Diego at 55mph the entire way...the fuel needle hardly moved, but it took forever.

RE: new awning for my toyhauler

Our manual awning broke on us with the slightest gust of wind last summer. The parts are made of cheap pot metal and cracked. We have Dometic A&E.

RE: TH and Boat

Not sure if you were asking me, but I'll answer anyway. Our ramp is 7'3"...only know that right now because we are looking for a bigger dune buggy. There is another inch or two inside the rear of the trailer. We have two jack knife sofas that face each other which I believe gives us 6'2" of space between them. We have 14'7" from the back door to the kitchen cabinets and 19' from the rear door to the stairs. We have room to get around the front of our boat when it's inside.

RE: TH and Boat

We have a 14' long and 5'10" wide boat we fit into our toy hauler. Husband attached a couple pullys to the D-rings in the floor and we use rope to pull in and out. Husband plans on installing a winch under the stairs when he has some time.

RE: What did you do to your Toy Hauler today???

My husband is finally putting in new carpet in the bedroom side of the TH...so thankful. Will add a pic later.

RE: Couple Mods Done Today

Looks great...nice place for a television. That cabinet will be so much more useful now. Thanks for sharing.

RE: Australian Toy Haulers

Love the interiors...the inside of ours looks like the home of a slimy creepy guy from the 70's. We try to make the most of it, but I wish it were more contemporary.

RE: What type of HD TV to buy

For a television that large, I wouldn't go with an off brand. Get a Samsung. LCD is okay, but LED is better and you can find them very thin, but plasmas get too hot, use up too much energy and will warm up your room. 1080p is noticeably better, but from what I hear you can't tell the difference between 60hz or 120hz unless you are using it for gaming. Just my two cents, sure someone else has a different opinion.

RE: Proposed rate increase for Imperial Sand Dunes

Holy cow..."The Business Plan calls for an increase in the weekly permit fee from $25 to $40 when purchased off-site. On-site weekly permits are proposed to be $70. The Annual permit fee is proposed at $180." We usually get the annual pass and sometimes we go a lot, but last year I think we went out only twice...we will definitely forgo the annual pass for $180 unless we know for a fact we'll have that much free time on our hands throughout the season. http://myemail.constantcontact.com/ASA-ACTION-ALERT---New-Permit-Fee-Proposed-for-ISDRA.html?soid=1105924771748&aid=LGMCXh6jOCc

Proposed rate increase for Imperial Sand Dunes

Just saw this on FB. I wish I knew how much money they brought in and how much they actually spent over the years. There seems to be a lot less people going out which may explain the loss in revenue, but also the decrease in need for services. Thought I'd share for those interested. RE: How often are your bed sheets changed ?

I wear pajamas and change my pillow case every night before bed. Husband sleeps with boxers. I sleep better when the sheets are clean and after a week they seem funky. We usually go on weekend trips in our toy hauler and I definitely wash them after every outing.

RE: Compact/small cars

I believe this is the website you are looking for: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/ We've been looking too, needed a station wagon so we settled on a VW TDI Jetta Sport Wagon. We liked the Chevy Cruze and there are some good prices on used ones out there. Other than that, the Sonata Hybrid from Hyundai looked very attractive. Apparently Hyundai is now backing their batteries for the lifetime of the owner...something to consider. Good luck.
