RE: Pride in Your Work

I've found some interesting stuff in the crevices of mine as I"ve had to dig to get to a thing or two....at this point what can you do? It's just that it bugs the hell out of me because if I did my job half as well, I'd be long fired. I get too much enjoyment out of it though to let it ruin my day.

RE: Cummins ISL emission vs pre-emission MPG???

I have the 425 ISL with the DPF emissions.....I am getting 7.8 mpg pulling the toad at 65 and about 8.4 if I slow her down to 62 just where 6th kicks in.

RE: Is this workhorse brake issue a deal breaker...??

I realize the price might be right for the person.....but these are not isolated incidents...there are many occurrences and many stories and until the recall fix is available, I'd hold off. Note I had a workhorse chassis and it gave me no trouble...but the brakes used to grind when cold until warmed up. It was a late 2006 model chassis and I would use the Transmission Brake constantly. a 50-50 gamble on an irreversible decision is too rich for my blood.

RE: Monaco?

I stand corrected Texan...Note that I am a bit biased on the subject due to what happened to my HR dealer and the customer warranty issue but the phone support is definitely there and the component support is there if you go through the right channels.

RE: BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPP!!!!

there is another thing that will make the propane alarm beep....a bulldog sleeping in front of it....no joke... But seriously, I always make sure smoke, CO and propane alarms work..the smoke detector of mine is in a hallway nook to the bedroom and as long as the fan is on for frying pan type cooking. I usually don't have a problem.

RE: Monaco?

Sorry to correct you but.. Also, the old dealers that are willing to work with them, are being made whole from their loss with the old Monaco company Tell that to my dealer who closed up after 43 years. Monaco will not assume any liabilities to dealers, suppliers or customers before the Navistar acquisition. This also includes any outstanding recalls or warranty issues. They went to their old dealers (that are still left)...and wanted them to take their product and forgive any previous debts. A few accepted and moved on but many did not.

RE: First time Class A buyer,

I'd stay away from the "old Monaco"..your first RV and a house problem will give you a hell of a headache..for sure...You could go to Mass or RI and check out Damon, Four Winds Hurricane, or Forest River products...this way if a house problem develops, you are covered...Fleetwood also reorganized but did not leave customers holding the bag as Monaco did. You can also check out the Tiffin products as their customer service is 2nd to none...There are dealers in Mass or go to tiffinmotorhomes.com (the Allegro would be perfect for you)..I'm not saying that Monaco was an inferior product, but the bureaucracy of reorganizing showed just how much their customers counted to Navistar...and since this is your first motorhome you have to do everything to make sure it is a positive experience... Check Mass and RI for Tiffin, Newmar, Winnebago/Itasca, Forest River and Thor (Damon, Hurricane, Four Winds) products....all good healthy companies that make a decent Ford Chassis product.

RE: ATC symbol on Motorhome gauge panel

ATC means automatic traction control..when light is on, unit is DISABLED...push the button again, or shut off your motor and restart the engine and the computer will reset it.

RE: Who shuts off their water?

I also use a 40 psi pressure regulator when I hook up city water -- no exceptions....as for shutting off the water...I try to do so but many times while we head out on an excursion our Washer is running so we leave it on...I do check the connections and the Pressure Regulator is the first thing I hook up.

RE: Toilet Plugging Up

Also get some RIDX...put it in there first with water and let it sit a day or two..RIDX does break the infamous pyramid...

RE: OH My Goodness, Look what we went and did!!!

Because the coach has been sitting since 2007..double check batteries, tires, etc. and do a THOROUGH PDI yourself before you hand over the check. Note that this dealer has been around and is one of the better ones. He sure had hard luck though, National, WRV, Country Coach, Alfa...although he has Foretravel. I am about 3 1/2 to 4 hours away from this dealer or I'd head there myself to help you. Much enjoyment from your new coach....house issues after leaving you will be on your own but that price is just a humdinger...obviously this dealer wants to finally move out its inventory and is just taking what it can get to move the orphans. And out of the all the orphans out there, everyone knows that National did not get that way by lack of a well built coach.

RE: OH My Goodness, Look what we went and did!!!

You did great...I have never read a bad thing about National at all on the forums...they built a great motorhome and bad business decisions did them in...Much luck with it...this dealership is about 3 1/2 hours from my home and years ago at Hershey I almost pulled the trigger for an Alpine...then my father died and we had to put things on hold..then WRV died and the unit is still sitting there. Because of the unique chassis etc.I did not want to get stuck with something that no one would work on.

RE: The afterlife of Country Coach

They supposedly had 10 completed coaches....I wonder who is going to get their hands on them. I know they had about 5 PREVOST chassis and I don't know if they built on them or if they are just sitting there..I bet PREVOST is pretty PO'ed now....imagine the few that did supposedly purchase direct with a supposed two year warranty. You can bet that several people are going to watch what happens with those 10 completed coaches. They'll sell.

RE: Lights on switches out on HR 08 Endeavor

You are going to laugh...Turn on your headlights and turn the switch itself all the way to the left until the map light comes on. Then turn map light off...If still out and other instrument panel lights work....it could be the headlight switch itself or a bad connection to the headlight switch.

RE: Progressive Industries EMS

This is a great company to deal with...Not to mention their product saved me twice due to a surge and a bad wired post.

RE: Country Coach Liquidation Results?

This dealer also had Alpine and I almost went for it but had to wait...and look what happened to Alpine...They also have Alpine's left as well. This coach will probably be sold as is, where is and the tires, batteries and god only knows what else will need attention. Not to mention that the dealer will not get paid for any PDI or anything like that. This dealer's saving grace is Foretravel. If someone who knows these things gets this coach, they got a good one.

RE: New Class A and taxes

If I may, if you buy in Florida (such as a dealer)...the dealer gives you a temporary and you do not pay sales tax with proof of out of state residency (Drivers License) The temp is good for 30 days and dealer gives you titlework to present to your home state DMV to title it in your home state and then you pay your tax. If you buy from a private party, you get title and then you are on your own to legally register the vehicle before you can drive it.

RE: 2009 Mandalay 40

This is Thor Industries which is healthy....I would have considered this one when we got our HR but at time HR dealer 40 miles away..had my trade presold....and the nearest Mandalay dealer is several hours away. You won't go wrong with this one..

RE: help with electrical

If there is a bad inverter board, (it happened to me)..you can bet that's why the inverter is not charging the batteries on shore power
