RE: Avoid Oklahoma if retiring

You really got an extra heavy tax burden Oklahoma.
I think the worst is yet to come for all of us, no matter which state we live in. With all the budget busting deficits on the Federal, state and local levels all across the nation.

RE: TT brakes are locked

The cable from the emergency brake wire is pulled. Put it in all of the way and it should be alright.
That was my first thought too. That is the very first place I would check.

RE: This is Driving me NUTS!!!

I used to tow with a 2001 F-150, 3.55 rear. GVWR of my TT was 5500# usually weighed about 4500# ready for the road but I also carried a lot of camping gear in the bed of the truck. The truck was adequate, always got me where we wanted to go but didn't have any power to spare, especially in the mountains. I towed several years with it only because I already owned it. I would not deliberately go out and purchase a F-150 with 3.55 rears with towing in mind no matter what written specs you refer to.
Now my '09 F-150 with a 3.73 rear and the new 6-spd tranny is a totally different truck. Perfect match for me and plenty of power to spare even in the mountains.
If I would have purchased a late modle F-150 instead of new, I would have gone with nothing less than 3.73 rear or maybe even the 4.10 rear if the primary use of the truck is for towing.

RE: Decided on the Ford!!!

I think you will do just fine.
We have basically the same truck with all the options, accept it's a 2009. Also using an Equal-i-zer hitch. We traded in our 2001 F-150 for the '09. What a difference. Ford came a long way. You're going to love that '10 truck.

RE: Internet explorer 8 "not responding" on WIndows 7

I have the same problems on my XP machine with IE8. Sometimes when I click, the window will pop up but then it won't respond and the page won't load. So I have to X out, and click again then it works fine. Very sporadic, sometimes it works just fine, other times I have to do the above nonsense.
Now I know it is not just my computer. I have the identical situation.

RE: Retirement what is it?

Retirement is all about choices.
How enjoyable retirement is depends on the choices you make.
Side note: Our calender has 6 Saturdays and 1 Sunday in every week.
Retirement is GREAT.

RE: Replacing plastic water heater drain plug with anode

The Atwood water heater does not require an anode rod. To add one is inviting problems. However replacing the plastic plug annualy is a good practice. Why? I've used the same one now for 7 years now, no problems. I can see maybe purchasing a back up to keep on hand, but no need to replace anually.
That's my opinion too. I have been using my original plastic plug now for four years. It's still in good shape. But I do carry a new one for a back up, just in case.
I do put a couple wraps of Teflon pipe tape around the plug before reinserting it each time I drain the tank and do not over tighten the plug.

RE: Do Performance Chips Really Work?

Not to argue with anybody because I don't know squat about performance chips.
But I always wondered. If performance chips did provide a significant increase in HP and/or torque, don't you think the manufactures would equip the vehicles with them right at the factory or at least offer them as an option. Especially with each manufacturer vying for bragging rights over the others?

RE: Hot spots - Wi Fi

Public libraries are another great source for Wi Fi connections.
Even without Wi Fi, we have never been turned down at any public library in any town we found our selves when we wanted to use a computer to log onto the Internet. None of them ever charged us a dime, although we always gave them a small donation for which they were thankful for.
One exception. Right here in my home town area, the new multi-million dollar public library will not allow visitors from out of town use their computers. Go figure. I'll bet it doesn't give visitors from out of the area a very nice impression of the hospitality (or lack of) in Tunkhannock, PA.

RE: Fried it all!

all from a generator we have used without issue in the past, just not plugged into with the fifth wheel.
Thinking further, is it possible that you were using some kind of electrical connector that you haven't used before, and got 220vac from the generator connected to the 110vac wiring in the rv?
That is exactly my first thoughts. 220 from the generator connected to a 110 trailer electrical system.?

RE: External Email Programs (EEP) ?

I use Outlook Express not because I "need" to. Just because I do.
I have two e-mail accounts: one strictly for conducting personal business and one for everything else which may attract a lot of spam.
Why do you currently have a need for 5 different e-mail accounts?

RE: what the heck is that??

things are ruff and some people need some help in these times. Butt some people will never change, some always want a hand out and never try to get back on there feet.
Your are right. But how do you know the difference.
I would rather error by unknowingly help someone who don't need assistance rather than to turn away someone who is truly needy.

RE: Loose dog attacked me and my dog

I know at times drastic measures must be taken against an attacking dog, but it is to bad it couldn't just be used against the dog's owner. There is where the problem is. That is why I tried to use just the minimum amount of force to defend my dog (a Golden) for other dogs when he was attacked by loose running dogs in a campground.
Luckily both times this occurred, a walking stick did the trick without serious injury to the errant dogs. It wasn't their fault, it was the owner's.

RE: 12 volt night light ( my solution)

Using LED lights is certainly a good idea, especially the low power drain.
What we have used a night light, was the light in the range hood over the stove. It has a lower wattage bulb in it than the rest of the 12V lights. Now you have me thinking of replacing the 12V bulb in the hood with a LED bulb(s).

RE: no suspension in my 5th wheel

Every axle has a suspension system. If you don't see leaf springs, you most likely have torsion spring axles....
Yep, Independent Torsion suspension system. See the spec's Here
Which you will find is great.
I prefer them rather than leaf spring suspension systems.

RE: Microwave broke, do i need a special one to replace it with?

The microwave I removed from the RV had the exact same sticker lol.
Could be why it failed. Not being vented properly?
Just wondering. Was it the original factory installation by the RV manufacturer?

Don't you people realize U.S. currency is hitting new lows almost every day? With the value of the U.S. dollar shrinking like it is, the prices you are seeing now may be bargain prices by 2011. :E

ALL MISSION tires are garbage..................
WRONG!
To date, I have 27000+ miles on my original Mission tires:
ST 205/75R/15/C.
Wear is normal with no signs of bubbles or tread separation. They were manufactured in November of '06.
