RE: Best campgrounds smokie mountains tn

Cherokee NC is a great place to camp. Alot cooler in the summer months. Happy Holiday rv park is nice. Not far from the Nantahala river where you go white water rafting. About a 30 min ride. Then you are close to Maggie Valley and Blue Ridge Parkway. Also the Great Smokey Mt. Drive up to Mingo Falls a nice short hike. Very beautiful. Its right out of Cherokee up Big Cove Rd. We Love Cherokee we go every Summer and camp at Yogi in the Smokeys. Its up the mountain with sites on the river. You can tube right in front of the cg. Also tubing in the town of cherokee. I have some pics below of Yogi

RE: Quiet time, What exactly does that mean?

Thank you ao higjtech. .we did call it a night. And we were talking in a hushed volume. The dad was.sitting ny the fire and we could not have one. Also he was up at 7.30 every morning chopping wood. Popupcamper I thank you for the correction. I do get my letters backwords sometimes. No offence here. Why do some of you all have to get so nasty? I thought campers were mostly friendly

RE: Quiet time, What exactly does that mean?

Five'er I agree! We like to sit up late and talk around the fire. We are not loud. We talk in soft tones. We are visiting with family we only se onece a year sometimes and we spend as much time together talking as we can. We use to tent camp when our boys were babies and we never set up camp around a camper. We also kept a box fan inside to buffer outside noise. When we are in our camper we kkep the ac fan in the on position so it runs all night. We never here anything. As far as lights go I am inside my camper with my eyes shut. I can't see any light;) We are all on vacation. It comes once a year, for one week. For some of us. There should be happy medium. I am not talking about the ones who sit up drinking and partying all night, just being rude. Sitting around the fire with the family talking and making memories.

Quiet time, What exactly does that mean?

I am 46 and I have camped all my life. I was always taught that it means to be on your site at the time on the rules usually 10pm,turn off any music,tv or what ever you have playing outside{we don't do this anyway} Being loud or disruptive. Right? On our last camping trip in July in the smokies we pulled in our site and there was a tent site on each side of us. A small wood picket fence between sites. There was a tent set up right on the fence next to our site. It was so close the the pop out widow overhung on our site right by our fire ring that you cannot move so we could not burn a fire or it would have burned the cord and tent. We never said a word to them about it. We just went to our firends/familys camp for a fire. Just saying.... Ok back to topic just wanted to give you all a mental picture. Me and my to adult sons and dil were sitting out one night around 10.30 and were just talking. Under our awning with our chairs in a circle huddled together. In a low tone. The father came over and said excuse me i don't mean to be a jerk, but could yall not talk you have woke my kids up twice already. We just looked at him and said ok we're sorry. Kids looked to be around 12/14. The back of the tent was right at our door about 6 feet away. Now the site was VERY big.He could have set the tent up on the other side of his lot. He was on the end. No site on the other side of him. We were in a pull thru site that was narrow so we did not have a choice on where to set up the camper. What would you do. We just did not wont to cause any trouble but you can talk quitly on your site. Are we suppose to now whisper after quite time? Our cooler squeaks louder than us talking:h We heard they complained to the office about everyone and was asked to leave a day early and not come back.

RE: Camping with toddlers

We take a rubbermaid tub for baths works great and they like to play in the water as well. riding bikes, trykes, fishing rods with a weight fun for casting. We use a laptop for movies at night to settle them down for bed time. Also a box fan running inside the tent helps to drown out the noise in the cg. Have fun.

RE: New Travel Trailer Campers

Welcome to camping life, Hello my name is Karen, and I have been a camping addict for 40 yrs.:B We take a rubbermaid tub or toy tub for the little ones to play in and baths. Its a great way to keep them on site while cooking. Plus keeps the grey water level down. Can't wait till our Thanksgiving week trip at FDR sp in Ga.

Ditto on Yogi in the smokies. It is a great family cg. Cabins are mixed in with camp sites. I have many pics nelow of Yogi. It is beautiful!. tubing right in the cg. Just a few miles from the BRPW. Nice cool temps. It is 7 miles up the mt from Cherokee. We have a large group 35 people. who just returned. Great base camp. it is 50 min back over the mt to gatlinburg. We do day trips. Also sliding rock is a fav thing to do. Look it up on youtube. here http://inlinethumb28.webshots.com/38171/2842469500095712612S600x600Q85.jpg height=400 width=600 In my pics below you can see many pics of the cg. Album.Cherokee/Ober

RE: saw this idea in a Blog

Yes Mike/Rose I use bottle for the shower also. Just saw this to put at the outside spigot. Good for tenters and pup campers I would believe. We would keep a bar at our spigot when camping just so not to go inside the camper. This will help keep the bar from falling in the dirt.

Seal for awnings?

Is there a spray seal that works? My dads awning is leaking in the seams. Thanks
