RE: camping in the smokies

We have a trip planned to Pine Mountain RV Park in Pigeon Forge in July. It looks nice on there website.
Good choice, you will like Pine Mountain. Close to everything. Nice pool and one of the best and cleanest shower/bathroom facilities I have seen at a RV park.

RE: Fithwheel and tonneau covers issue

Yes, been there, done that. I had an Access Roll up cover with the rails that sat on the truck bed rails. They extended out to reduce the space the back of the pin box could travel. I was not aware of this limitation until a service tech at the RV dealer started to back up my last 5th., wheel, cut real sharp and the back of the pin box caught the rail, bent it and damaged the truck bed rail. $900.00 worth of damage.
Got rid of the Access cover and went to a tri-fold Tonno Pro. No more problems.

RE: Bed tonneau covers

I had to go from a Access roll up cover to a tri-fold. The Access cover had a rail system that went down each side of the bed rails that reduced my clearance between the 5 er., truck by 1.5". Went to a Tonno Pro tri-fold, no rails, 15 minute install.

RE: 5th wheel water heater

If you are in Nashville, go by Cullem & Maxey RV on Music Valley Dr., they are a Forest River dealer for some lines and should be able to help you. They have a big parts dept.

RE: Raise hitch or lower king pin?

I had a similar problem. I had to get rid of my roll up tonneau cover with the rails and get a tri-fold cover without rails. My main problem was the back of my pin box hitting the tonneau cover rail. Ditch the tonneau cover rails and make a slight adjustment to your hitch.

Best route to Ft. Pickens from I-65

What would be the best route from I-65 coming from the North to Ft. Pickens near Pensacola? Getting off at exit #93 and going through Brewton, AL & Milton, FL., or go on down to exit #69 taking Hwy., 113 & 29 to I-110 then 98?
I will be pulling a 36 ft., fifth wheel.

RE: Clunking noise while towing

Been there, done that. Had a Reese 15K w/slider, clunk, clunk, clunk. Realized I never used the slider. Got the B&W Patriot that drops right down in the standard rails. No more clunk. Great hitch. Thanks to Craigslist I sold the Reese to someone that will have clunk, clunk, clunk.

RE: What TV do we need?

If you are only going to tow locally, no long trips, the Chevy 2500HD 6.0 gas will pull it. But if you intend to travel a lot save your self a lot of grief and get a diesel 2500HD. I have already been that route on a little smaller 5th. wheel, started with a 6.0 gas, it pulled it OK but on long trips it was very exhausting. When we traded for our Sabre 31 RETS dry weight 10,300# we traded trucks to the 2500HD 6.6 diesel. What a difference, hardly know the trailer is back there, such a more pleasant towing experience. I don't have to feel like I need to push the truck like the gasser. If you go with the 6.0 get the 4.10 rear axle. Spend a little more, go with the 6.6 Duramax/Allison and you will be glad you did. I really don't think you need a 3500 HD with this trailer but if you "think" you may want a bigger one later, get the 3500.
Just my two cents worth. I have been through this.

RE: B&W Patriot Hitch

The B&W Patriot is a great hitch. You can't go wrong with any B&W product. Had it for two years with no problems. Got rid of a Reese and very glad I did.

RE: Just Switched my Family of 5 over from AAA to Good Sam RSA

Been a Good Sam Roadside Assistance subscriber for four years after buying our fifth wheel, we changed from AAA . Just yesterday was the first time we needed to use it. The wife's car wouldn't start while parked at Sonic Drive In, she called GS and within about 20 minuted the tow truck was there, towed to the nearest Firestone where they replaced the battery.
Great service with Good Sam Roadside Assistance.

RE: Campgrounds Near Cookeville, TN

If Crossville, TN is not too far away from where you want to be, then you have several choices. They are about 36 to 38 miles apart, depending on where you stay. Spring Lake RV park is just a few minutes North of I-40 off the Peavine Rd. exit. Then you have Cumberland Mt. State Park which is South of the interstate. There are a few more too. Check RVParkreviews.com.

RE: Rand McNally 7710

it sounds like a good price i paid $399 for mine but dont waste your money they are junk lots of problems tells you to turn right when theres no right sends you down dead ends no turn arounds for a rv. my gps on my phone works way better i wish i could send mine back and i hear they have the same problems with the 7720 also.....
there's a guy in Ohio you can sell it to maybe. :)
bumpy
I too have the same problems with the 7710. First trip out it directed me way past one location and into a dead end residential street the second time. Fortunately I already knew where I was going anyway on the second location but the first location I had to go 10 miles out of my way to find a place to turn around. I too have have MUCH better luck with the GPS on my Android phone. Both locations were very well known campgrounds that had been around for years, why Rand McNally or their map vendor couldn't get this correct is beyond me. I went online and reported this to Rand McNally. I got no response and as far as I know they haven't corrected it yet. I will NEVER buy another stand alone GPS.

RE: Distance between tires

The space bwt wheels on my fiver is diff. side to side... have been told that weight plus the terrain will cause the equalizers to allow the space to varry. ??? Thoughts please.
Take it to a flat parking lot and measure again. Should be about the same distance IMO.
I was told that too. That is why I waited 6 months to take it back to the dealer. I made sure it was parked on a flat, level concrete pad, no twist while parking, etc. Tires still closer on the one side. Be interesting to see what Lippert comes back with.

RE: Distance between tires

The space bwt wheels on my fiver is diff. side to side... have been told that weight plus the terrain will cause the equalizers to allow the space to varry. ??? Thoughts please.
When I purchased my 2012 Sabre 31 RETS-6 last year in January the BAL X Chocks I have would go between the tires on each side equally. I think the X chocks will screw down to 1 3/8". They were snug but both would go in. By mid year and several trips out the X chock on the left side would no longer go between the tires, the one on the right side was OK. So that side lost at least 1/8" to 1/4". I have not detected any unusual tire wear. At the request of Lippert, the dealer has made some measurements, taken some pictures and submitted to Lippert. Still waiting on their recommendation or explanation.

RE: Branson

I think you would be ok finding an rv spot and a I'd take a fifteen year old to the Dixie stampede !
If you go to the Dixie Stampede, take a plastic knife and fork with you unless you want to eat with your hands. If you don't, make sure you wash your hands real good before you go. Fun place though.

RE: Sabre 34REQS Owners

The nearest Sabre dealer is about 2hrs away from us and they don't have one to look at either.
After looking at the floor plan on line, can you walk get past the end of the sink counter when the dinette slide is closed?
Trying to figure out if the refrig is accessible when stopping on the road.
Looking at the floor plan of the 34REQS, looks like you "may not" be able to get to the refrigerator with the slides in. It is good you are looking at that as it is important to get to the refrigerator while traveling. I will never buy another 5er., unless I look at it with the slides in. Our 2012 Sabre 31 RETS-6, the refrig and bathroom are wide open with the slides in but the bedroom is not. My fear, if something happens that the bedroom slide won't go out, there is no way to get in the bedroom to access the slide motor for manual operation. That scares me. Plus if I want to stop somewhere for a couple of hours sleep, I have to put the BR slide out. Live and learn.
