RE: Class A length...

Our Damon Daybreak is 28’ 11” It is a class A by style. It is perfect for us but “To each his own” We find the size is quite maneuverable. Some of the state and national parks have a 30’ limit. As far as mileage, I don’t think it makes a lot of difference. We travel in about 6 week stints, and we are quite comfortable for that time frame. After that we miss the grandkids, get our fix and head out again.

RE: ALASKA

We hav traveled across the USA several times. My favorite was fpllowing the Lewis and Clark trail from St. Louis/ St Charles along the Missouri river to the Rockies in Idaho and down the Columbia to WA , OR. Just turn right and you are on your way to Alaska. We will hopefully be right with you or soon after.

RE: Fantastic fan in bedroom

We love our Fantastic fan. I got the one with the remote control. My wife could not reach the ceiling. Short wife tall ceiling. I replaced the vent in the kit with the fan there was already wiring in place next to the vent. Nice surprise. It was a very easy install, about an hour over all.

RE: Walmart Parking Overnight, which ones?

I don’t think anyone mentioned the app for a smart phone we have the allstays app and it gives your present location and all the walmarts that allow parking overnight. We also have an app for Cracker Barrel resturaunts they have spots reserved for RVs and welcome overnight guests. They are located mostly in the east and south. Good food too.

RE: Admission Corner...

I think we have all had many of the problems that you have had. Just maybe not all at once. Hopefully you have gotten them all out of the way and now can enjoy trouble free RVing. YEA RIGHT. Seriously it sounds like you are enjoying the time and remember that the bad times make the good times seem so much better.

RE: Planning a lot of outside activities for tomorrow

We’ve got room in upstate NY. It has been in the 80’s and real nice. We had 54 last night. Great “sleeping weather” Hope it cools off by fall out there. That’s when we’ll be heading out. It’s too nice here to leave right now.

RE: Damon Daybreak

We own a 2010 Damon Daybreak and absolutely love it. It may be considered the low end of type A’’s but it is very comfortable, and has all the amenities that we wanted. The V 10 performs nicely and we are getting just shy of 8 mpg. I have never owned a DP but have looked at many, and for the difference in price we just could not justify it. I hear the DP people and appreciate that it works for them.

RE: Rand mcnally 7710

I have had a 7710 for over a year and I love it. I have not had any of the problems mentioned. It sometimes gets the speed limit wrong, but you can enter in a correction and it does change it. I use the campground search program and the Woodall’s update as well . It does warn about overweight roads and other restrictions but the one time it warned me I was already on the restricted road. I just got off when I was able. I do have a Garmin and will continue to carry it with me in case I encounter any of the mentioned problems.

RE: Overnight Stays

Boondockers Welcome. It is a website that I joined and offered a bit of my land to pull off the road for the night. It is a great idea that seems to be catching on.

RE: Help...no water in shower

Unscrew the shower head and try it. Sometimes you get a little dirt in the restrictor. The hole is very small and easily plugged

RE: Buying Class A, negativity abounds

Great comments. I totally agree, it’s our money and we’ll spend it however we choose. We spent 6 weeks in Florida over the winter. We spent $2000 in gas, stayed in several state parks and had a great time. Several people commented. Some who had flown to their destinations then rented cars and stayed in hotels and ate every meal out. Another had bought a house in Florida for winter use. Think of the taxes, insurance, upkeep, travel, worry when you are not there. Yea, I feel real foolish.

RE: What should I do when I get gas?

Would it be easier to just turn off the switch for all the coach power? I would assume all RVs have them .That way nothing could light while gassing up I never really thought about it, but it sounds like it would be smart to shut it all off while gassing up.

Window blow out

We were driving across Monument Valley, two lane highway not another car in sight, weather was beautiful mid 70’s. All of a sudden we heard a BOOM! The drivers side window in our Type C Chevy chassis was in my lap in a thousand pieces. I maintained control and stopped at the next pull off to assess what had just happened. After cleaning up the glass and looking around we were clueless. We continued to Mesa Verde and hooked up with a great glass dealer in Cortez and got it fixed the next morning. He had no idea what could have caused it either. Has anyone out there experienced such a thing?

RE: When leaving on extended RV trip???

In cold climates it is wise to shut off the water heater the the main water supply and get a freeze alarm. A simple device that alerts designated telephone # if the house temperature falls below 45 degrees. I have had it work and it likely saved many thousands of $. And gives you peace of mind. Also helps to have someone check the house once a week or so. We had a fisher, kind of like a mink get in thru our chimney and ran all over trying to get out. My son trapped it and got it out of the house. It would have stunk it it had died in the house.

RE: Adding Detergent to Your Black Holding Tank

The GEO Method Take a look at this link. I read this article. It seems to make a lot of sense. I am going to try the suggestions and see what happens.

RE: Randoms Acts of Kindness.

How prudent would it be to post your cell phone # in the window of your RV so that someone could notify you of something wrong. Steps out, ant up etc. We just have a trac phone, I really don’t care who has the number.

RE: Stair Covering

I took a large 3’x5’ rubber backed mat that matched our decor My wife was impressed that i had even thought about it. Actually I hadn’t I cut them to fit the two exterior steps and three interior. I glued the exterior ones with construction adhesive and screwed the interior ones in four corners with short screws and decorative chrome washers. With a mat outside and the five carpeted steps, we find that they catch most of the dirt before it gets inside.
