RE: How many fuel filters?

I used Biobor and I think it is suppose to disperse it. It is the only one I could find at the local West Marine.

RE: Anyone own a Champion Generator?

I don't own one personally, but i can tell you I have heard nothing but good things about champion. From the customer support to reliability. They also are priced very well.

How many fuel filters?

OK, so I treated my tank with a biocide. My question is how many times should i have to change the fuel filter until the system is cleaned out. I have ordered 3 filters from freightliner and plan on taking everything with me in order to change the filters on the road when they plug. Do you think that 3 filters should be enough or should i order more? I would rather be safe than sorry. Thanks

RE: Freightliner Cat 3126 fuel system

Just went through the same exact thing. I ended up having to use starting fluid to get it to fire. But if you do this make sure you know what your doing or it could end bad. Have someone cranking and someone spraying a little starting fluid and it should fire. Now I know to always park mine nose up when I change it from now in. If you have a full tank and park it with the front up this never happens.

RE: ALGAE and Fuel Filter Problems

No, I didn't check the bleed screw. Tomorrow im going to use ether. YES, I know the dangers of doing it. I turned to block heater on so the grid heater will not come on at all. Thanks Again!

RE: ALGAE and Fuel Filter Problems

Thanks Everyone!! Today took the filter off and made sure it was totally full then blew air in the tank until the fuel was steadily coming out. While the fuel was coming out had someone else screw the filter on while still putting air in the tank, this way there was no way for air to get into the system. Cranked and Cranked and Cranked and still nothing.

ALGAE and Fuel Filter Problems

Ok, this all started a couple weeks ago when i was driving the coach back and it started losing power slowly. I automatically figured it was the fuel filter. So long story short I ordered the filter and went to change it yesterday. As soon as I unscrewed the old filter i new that I had Algae (Black Sludge all over the inlet holes of the fuel filter). The Algae is a problem of itself. But now i can't get the engine to start after changing the filter. This is the single 2 micron fuel filter set up. First, I just put the filter on dry because i didn't have any diesel fuel laying around. I cranked the engine many many many times! Then i used an air compressor on the fuel cap to push fuel to the filter (left the screw on the separator open). Once a steady stream came out I closed the screw. Still will not start!!!!! Took the filter back off and it hardly had any fuel in it just enough to fill the bowl. Then after all of this I went to get fuel to fill the filter and guess what? Still wont start! Im lost. Normally when i change the filter i have it parked on a big hill but this time it was parked differently. I still think it should have filled the filter.

RE: Destination: Myrtle Beach - Suggestions?

There really are no bad choices in MB. Our favorite is Ocean Lakes. They have loads of amenities and an indoor pool, which is terrific this time of year. It's a short drive from there to South MB, Murrell's Inlet or Surfside, where there are loads of eateries and things to do. X2

RE: CAT vs. Cummins

No doubt someone will tell you "Cat doesn't make truck engines anymore so service could be an issue." IMHO you can ignore those people because they don't understand that there are hundreds of thousands of Cat truck engines on the road and a very extensive service network. We love our Cat and as they used to say "If it's not a Cat, it's a dog! LOL X2 both are good engines!

RE: Inverter question while on shore power

It won't really bother anything just running a tv, but this will work good for transferring the power from shore to inverter. This will work with any inverter.

RE: So just how did you come up with your screen name here???

Mine is pretty obvious and was easy to come up with..... Have a cat engine and an allison transmission in the coach. 7 is my lucky number.:B

RE: Question on Shore power issue

A) It is a lockout device to keep the tv from being run while driving. I moved mine to an outlet right beside the "lockout." B) You dont have to disconnect shore power when starting the engine (make sure not to forget). When starting the generator, you can leave shore power connected or you can disconnect. Most people disconnect just to make sure there is absolutely no way for anything to go wrong. I have run my gen. with shore power connected many times and nothing ever goes wrong. On my coach the GEN is the "Primary Input" and shore power is the "Secondary Input." In other words GEN overrides shore power.

RE: Removal of Onan 7.5 KW genset

I cant say much about the removal, having not done it. But, by all means change that temp sensor if you cant change anything else! As FIRE UP has said when this part goes the whole genny goes. Good Luck

RE: Honda EU200i in Parallel

I would save the money and make my own parallel cables IMHO. It will only cost about 60 bucks and is totally safe. Here it is Parallel cables... This is not mine or my idea but it is a great way to parallel. Good luck :-)
