RE: Flying J Card and Credit

Yeah, definitely one of those too young to know better deals. I was paying credit cards off and then closing the accounts so we couldn't every run our debt up again. All the while feeling very good about myself. Everything paid off, wife takes off with only open credit card and of course tanks my credit. So, my only credit card option is to get one of those pre-paid ripoff deals. Guess I'll have to start looking at that.
Thanks for making the call. Now I don't have to.

RE: Flying J Card and Credit

I hope so, I'm trying to rebuild my credit post-divorce and can use all of the good marks I can get.

Flying J Card and Credit

I know that the card isn't a normal credit card.
However, is the account reported to any and/or all of the credit bureaus?

RE: propane tank gauge

Here's what I use when I want to know exactly what is in my tanks.
Berkley® Digital Fish Scale
The neck of the tank will list it's empty weight. Then it's just a matter of a little simple math.
I bought the pressure guages from Sams in the past. They're now in the trash.
When I want a guestimate I use the hot water method. That works suprisingly well, and doesn't require the removal of the tanks. Downside is that it doesn't work in hot weather.

RE: Jeep Wrangler

You might also check the weight limits of your hitch mount. I was looking at a friend's jeep the other day as he was considering a small TT. The door sticker had a modest tow rating. Then I went to the back and looked at the factory tow reciever. It's tow rating was much much lower than the door sticker's rating. And since your actual rating is the lowest of the numbers he would be lucky to tow a very small and light pop-up, let alone a TT. I don't remember the exact numbers, but it was something like 3500# on the door but only 1200# on the reciever hitch. Anyway, make sure you're going with the weakest link in the chain. Hope you figgure something out.

Another new tent

Took our new tent out to cub scout camp his weekend with my son. Man these folks are making good tents. I've used a bunch through the years.
My only complaint was there wasn't enough airflow for me. But that was partly because it was meant for harsher/cooler weather and that I left the rainfly on.
I loved the zippers the most. I've never had one that the zippers worked this well and this easily.

RE: Our New (new to us!) Camper - Before & After Pics

Looks nice. I like the drawers idea in the bedroom on the nightstand. I might have to steal that idea.

RE: Travel Trailer has full wall "Panoramic Vista View" option!

My friend had a tonado do that modification to his. Only his was the front wall and it had to be turned upside down to finish the mod.

RE: Groaning during cornering from hitch area

I would not use WD-40, it's a solvent, not a lubricant. If you are going to lube, get some hitch ball lube, it's usually a white grease, won't attract dirt like WD-40 will.
Ditto. I use Reese Hitch Ball Lube
I have noise from where the two W/D bars slide into the hitch if I don't lube them.

RE: Fresh Tank Drain Valve

I did the same repair on my Jayflight 26BH this spring. I did it because mine stopped draining. I had to pull everything appart right up to the tank. It was full of mineral deposits from hard water to the point that it was completely blocking the drain. Works like a charm now.

RE: Memory Foam Mattress Topper Question

We have a Perfect Harmony Mattress Topper.
It's 2" of memory foam with a 2" cotton pillow top topper over it.
It seemed a little pricy for me but I wouldn't do without it now.
This thing sleeps as good as my bed at home. Maybe a little better even.
With the extra 4" thickness it makes my short queen a perfect fit for normal queen sheet sets.
