RE: 2013 Ram 3500 Good Deal Or Not

That sounds reasonable on a just released vehicle to me. I would still argue for a lower price of course. Is that cash price or are you also doing a trade?

RE: The continuing Saga waiting for my new Ram 3500

FWIW, our Ford Raptor and our 2013 Charger are "capless" too. I don't like it.

RE: NC Haulers new ride

Fantastic looking truck! Curious to hear your thoughts on the headlights. My wife tradedn her 2011 Charger in on a 2013 CHarger a few days ago and about the only difference on the outside of the car is the 2013 has the projector headlights.

RE: General tires are JUNK!!!!!

I'm surprised that this is news to you. All manufactures really don't put that good of tires on anyways. .
Agreed, my f350 came with Michelins, the biggest POS set of tires I had ever seen.

RE: Question on Michelin LTX M/S2

I've purchased 2 sets since October. 1st is 17" P rating as its on wifes 1/2 ton Chevy Truck. 2nd set is 16" LT as its on my 2500 truck that does all of the heavy lifting. Nice and quiet on both trucks. Good traction in the snow and really nice in heavy rain when compared to the Goodyear Wrangler AT that came on wifes 1/2 ton truck and hydroplaned almost from day 1. Handling is the same on both trucks and in fact made the 1/2 ton stick to the road better and more predictiable. Less tire side flex in corners. My opinion is stay with OEM size. I'm very happy with both my LTXM/S2 Randu
Do you mean the hardpacked snow? I find mine worked well on icy roads and really hardpacked stuff, but deep loose snow and mud they were absolutely horrible.

RE: Bearing failure

We never had any bearing issues on any of our GMs....actually, I can't even recall the last time I had to replace a bearing on anything.

RE: Anyone have a Platinum Edition Superduty?

I too built one on the Ford site. I like the lighter of the two leathers. Would really like to see one in person.
I am not buying however until I see the new Ram's in person. I actually liked the longhorn edition leather, but not sure if it is still offered in 2013 with the same design as the '12 had. Longhorn limited looks nice as well.
As soon as I can tell that the trucks are on the lots, I can make a drive to the "big city" and inspect both brands. Leaning towrds the Ram at the moment, but I need the longbox and something about the rams looks better in the short box version. But that is not an option for me. Thanks folks.
Anyone else that actually has a Platinum, please chime in. Interested to hear about the leather quality and would like some more photos.

Anyone have a Platinum Edition Superduty?

Since the new Ram's are just starting to hit the lots, I haven't gotten a chance to really look them over. I was internet browsing and ran across the platinum edition F350. Not being a fan of the king ranch interior, I think the platinum looks great. The nearest one to check out in person is a couple hundred miles away. Anyone that has one, please post up some good interior shots (yes, i have looked at the photos online) and share your thoughts about the leather. Help a small town guy out.....its a long ways to a dealership.

RE: Do I Really Need 4x4 when towing in the mountains?

If the cost of buying a two year old truck with 4 wheel drive is stretching it, buy a 4 year old truck with 4 wheel drive. Get the four wheel drive for what you are wanting to do.

RE: Former Chevy Owner...Just Swapped to F150

You should have waited until the direct injection 5.3 comes out.
Why? The Ecoboost has diesel-like torque, a great powerband and OK fuel economy when not towing. And it's available NOW.
Just like the 6.2 Chevy gasser!
The 6.2 Chevy is a great motor.....its just wrapped in a not so great truck.
The guy switched to blue kool-aid from the pink kool-aid. A simple congrats on the new truck should suffice.

RE: Direct injection gasser...and the rest of the herd

I wonder if they will design any higher displacement turbo charged GDI engines to compete head on with the diesels. The higher torque capability and less complicated emission problems of gasoline powered engines might send the diesels to museums. Maybe the answer for towing will be a gasoline/diesel - the addition of some gasoline injected into the diesel engine might help out with emissions instead of wasting fuel and urea in the exhaust pipe.
How much more power do you want? They are already getting mid 3+ HP out of a V6! You want 400 HP? 500, 600? How much do you want?
A large displacement turbo engine will only burn more fuel. You want more power? You will have to pay for it at the pump!
500 would be nice! Our F150 makes (if I recall correctly) 410 HP. After awhile, its no longer fun. I would pay the premium at the pump for 500 HP. Heck, the car I am looking at purchasing this summer makes 662 HP from the factory. I say the more the merrier as long as they can keep temps under control.

RE: Former Chevy Owner...Just Swapped to F150

Congrats, we had had two previous GM products with the 5.3 L as well. So glad to be rid of those vehicles. Sounds like you got a great tow vehicle. Any photos?
since you didn't like the 5.3, why did you buy a second one?
The wife gets whatever she wants. The first one was in a 2008 Impala SS. Of course it hauled that car around fine but it was a pain to work on, they really shoehorned that engine in there. Then she wanted a larger four wheel drive....a 2010 Tahoe LTZ. I hated that thing, we had that thing in for numerous little things (not really engine related) but I tried towing with it a couple times and was not impressed at all. Now she has an F150 Raptor with gobs of power and next to no payload or towing capacity. Like I said, she gets whatever she wants. I just change the oil and service them. :C
