RE: Stink Bug Eradication

Have used whole cloves with success, available in spice isle of supermarket. Can not remember where I read it, they don't like the smell. Cheap enough to try. We've been stationary so don't have to worry about cloves bouncing off ledges and sills. Liked the duck tape solution.

RE: Towing Problems - Mercury Mariner

'09 Escape towed following Fords guide lines. Never towed over 65 MPH Want you to stop every 6 hours start up and run transmission through gears for five minutes. We usually stoped every 3 to 4 hours, also supposed to run it at start of day for 5 minutes again going through gears. There are tech bullitens out about lowering level of fluid on dip stick you need to get with service manager and push him for these. I was trouble free towing, yet 4 months after landing here in Alabama driving around town I lost the trans. Do not intend to ever tow it again. Those who lost trans due to towing did so while it was hooked up going down the road. One I read of had 4 blow up, last within 300 miles of repairing dealer after coming back to pick it up an tow it home. Mine is an all wheel drive I bought because Ford said it was towable 4 down. I am not rich enought to fight with Ford if trans goes while towing out of warranty. If your Marineer is a front wheel drive I would say dolly it. If I have to head North again I will rent a trailer for Escape. Ford has now come out and said Escape builds after Feb. 2012 are not towable 4 down. 2013s are not towable 4 down. I think this includes the Edge and Flex.

RE: Smoke coming from rear tires - Newbie Help Requested

I've always thought that tires run flat would catch fire. Other I've seen is something jamed up top rubbing tire to smoking.

RE: Narrow Roads

lj2654.. I have my right side convex mirror set so I can see the the front tire(left side same way). This allows me to posistion close or right on the line. If oncoming are cars ride center line, they'll move over. If a truck move right and hope mirrors don't meet.

RE: Shocking Monaco knight

I'd try a different outlet, sounds like current one is wired wrong. Could also be one of the adapters used to get to three prong 120Vs plug. Unsure if an open neutral would put voltage on frame of RV.

RE: Squirrels got us AGAIN - updated 8/14

Had them Eat through my extend-a-stay rubber hose twice. Repair tech told me to wrap aluminum foil around hose.. Worked like a charm, do not know how easy it would be to do a gas line but hey worth a shot. Have and had two of the sonic plug in critter ridders, front and rear. My son told me they lose their effectiveness after awhile as the critters become used to the sound. That I should swap different manufacturers to change sound. Personally I find the current little ole lady neighbor's three cats a better deterrent.

RE: Getting used to

On a Class A you sit in front of the front wheels. Just a mite difference when turning. You'll find you have to go out past center of lane when turning. I'm sure you will catch on quickly, enjoy the view. It, view, is what hooked me on an 'A'.

RE: Filter Numbers For DIY PM Work

FB Grateful Dad- Don't forget your dealing with 5 Gallons or better of engine oil if DIY. Fuel filler/water seperator needs to be filled prior to install. I carry spares of all except the air filter, too big, under the couch. If you haven't yet join DOAI great help for your coach there. It is not hard just new, generator is easy to do kind-a like a car. First couple times I used SpeedCo. Enjoy your coach.

RE: RV diesel inspections in New Jersey

When I was last titled there. Yes diesel emmisions, yes state inspection. Diesel emmisions by local repair shop that I had to pay for. State inspection at DMV, I used Winslow(Anacora) as they had large bay. It was funny watching them try to get up enough speed to do brake test, not funny the second time as we were set up for full timing. Stuff all over. As your friend said it's part of registration cost so let state look at it, might pick up something for you.

RE: Furnace fan "growling", how to replace?

Remember the joke about the Gynocologist becoming an auto mechanic and repairing the carberator through the tail pipe? Kind of like replacing the motor in one of the heaters. I have lost my fine motor skills in my hands(carpal tunnel) so held the light for Mechanic. It is doable, took about an hour to get out. Three days for the part to arrive. An hour back in. If you can get it to quiet by oiling, I'd try that first. To remove my main/large heater would require drilling out 15 or so rivets. Oh it was a Atwood 25K BTU. Took lots of pictures for reassembling..The motor has shafts on both ends for squirrel cage type fans and is enclosed in a housing. Get model number off furnace and call PPL for part so you have it on hand. Luck

RE: RV Wash

2gypies-- Only once have I encountered an automated brush at Blue Beacon some where in upstate NY. It was a tall(think trailer) operated machine consisting of fabric pieces. It was run up and down the RV by an operator. Mostly they use pressure wands about 10 feet long. They will use a soft brush if dirt remains usually on the rear cap. The top just gets sprayed. Price is usually $35.00, we make sure the guys in the bay know we're tipping $4. $5 if it's winter because of salt. Oh ya they do the Toad if it's attached.

RE: RV Wash

Look for a 'Blue Beacon' truck wash. $60.00 with tip included. Sorry does not show any in Washington state. They are usually around TA truck stops or LOVEs. Not much help to you but I answered.

RE: Water heater *update I fixed it*

My igniter was an assembly that had a screw screwed on mount only adjustment was slight bend to center in the tube. Also Emailed you the write up I have, it's for Atwoods. Does your cook stove light from igniters, and it's working? Seems crazy you can light it with a flame and it continues to burn. Any good friends near by that will let you swap out parts with them, other then that it gets expensive. Most will not normally let you return Circut boards and besides there is the wait. Igniter itself was only about $25.00. Again Luck.

RE: Water heater *update I fixed it*

Is the 'Igniter' centered in the tube? Would try cleaning igniter first then replace, I've found if the ceramic is damaged at all it wont light. Oh and clean ground connection of Igniter and circut board. If you can see the spark and it is not igniting next guess would be Propane Regulator Flow adjustment, not for the every day handy man. Luck Send me your Email address I have write up. Joe D

RE: Bedroom Slide Won't Open

Greatful Dad....You didn't say if you found the Power Boards. They are under the bed right behind AC circut breakers. They supply the high current switching between forward and reverse for motors. Mine were not labled so if you switch wire plugs on circut boards be aware that any of the slides will move. They have a 30Amp bussmen type fuse on them. I can not get to the bedroom slide motor in mine might be a good idea to check for Voltage getting there. The motor its self has a thermal circut breaker that will reset if you let it cool off. If thermal is hung open maybe a gentle rap with small mallet might reset it. There is a Discovery Owners Assoc. on line. You have to join but they are very helpful and you can do a search looking for problems and solutions.
