Absolutely great, we're fulltimers and joined about a year before going FT. We also use the mail service.

RE: Coach-Net, Good Sam or "Other" in Alaska?

Howdy!
I had a breakdown the the Yukon traveling to Alaska in 2008. No phone service, a RCMP showed up and contacted a tow service via radio. They towed me to Beaver Creeck, YK. I contacted GS ERS when we arrived as this was the first phone service. They advised me they would not pay for the tow because I did not call them and they had not authorized the tow. GS ERS cost me a $2000.00 tow bill. We now have coach Net.

RE: Using Nexus or Galaxy 7 as Dash GPS

Howdy!
I use the Co-Pilot Live USA app for our goto GPS. I started using it with my Samsung Galaxy tab. I recently purchased a Galaxy Note II phone and Note 10.1 tablet. Both have the GPS feature and run Co-Pilot without a data connection. You only need to check to make sure the tablet your getting has the GPS feature. My Note tablet does and it only has WiFi data connection. I don't connect to data while traveling using my tablet.

RE: Anyone use the Surco 501br ladder bike carrier ?

Howdy!
We carried our bikes on a ladder carrier for a couple of years, on problems. Make sure your secure them well. That being said I did not care for it. They are a pain to get up on the ladder and secure, and once done I didn't want to hassel of getting them down. Also you lose the use of your ladder to access the roof of your RV. I opted for welding a 2" receiver to our 5er pin box and a good bike rack.

RE: blown tire collision or comprehensive

I agree with others regarding Goodyear (GY) tires. We've had our share of tire tread seperation which caused damage to our 5er. GY has paid each and every time for tires and damage.
How many times have you had tread separation with your GY tires? How many miles were on them?
Howdy!
I've filed five different claims with GY and they have always paid. The first was with my used 5er we purchased. We then purchased a new 5er with GY G614 tires. We had four claim regarding G614 tires. The tires were always within the five year warranty, and never a question about miles as the tread was missing. Also each time I advised GY I was not comfortable with the tires (G614s) and they not only paid for damages and tires I had purchased they replaced all the other tire on my 5er. We upgraded to 17.5 rims and tires and have not had any tire problems after doing so two years ago. I had a Michelin tire seperate and they would not even talk to me about a claim. As stated GY stands behind their product.
Also you cannot count on a tire dealer to help you. You must contact GY to file the claim are insist to the dealer you intention and have them assist you filing the the claim.

Howdy!
I agree with others regarding Goodyear (GY) tires. We've had our share of tire tread seperation which caused damage to our 5er. GY has paid each and every time for tires and damage. The last one was our $9,000.00. The one thing I will tell you is you must have the tire, do not disgard it. Contact GY file a claim and they will arrange for the tire to be shipped to them for inspection. I contuine to buy GY because they stand behind their product.

RE: BEST gps

If you have a smartphone or better yet a tablet look at the app Co-pilot live usa. It has a RV setting.
Do you need internet service to use something like this? What if you are traveling the backroads with no cell coverage?
Howdy!
You do not need data connection (internet service) to use CoPilot app. You download the app and maps to your device. I've used Co-Pilot for the last two years of fulltimimg and my Samsung android tablet connects with WiFi an I never connect while traveling. As mentioned I like the large screen on my tablet for GPS. When in the car or on the scooter I use my smartphone (Samsung Note II).

RE: Tablet for mapping and geocaching

Howdy!
Using a smartphone or tablet look at using apps "Co-pilot live USA" for GPS and "c:geo" app for geocashing. These apps are downloaded to you devise and do not require a data connection to use.

RE: Coach Net get a A Plus on there service.

Howdy!
Paul, I can not answer your question. They're response when I stated my coverage was Platinum was only to say that it was covered. I do know that they have I think three differant levels of coverage and the Platinum was the hightest when I moved from GS ERS to Coach Net.

Coach Net get a A Plus on there service.

Howdy!
We decided to drive into Houston yesterday from Livingston to do some shopping. While doing so we had a flat on our Smart Car. We were able to get off of the Sam Houston Tollway into a service station. Once there I realized the can of fix-a-flat was not going to do the job. We had a hole the size of my thumb in the sidewall of the tire. I called Coach Net and was worried when I first talked to them advising them I would need a tire for our Smart Car and they stated they only covered our RV. I advised them I had the Platinum coverage and they put me on hold. A few minutes later I was advised know problem It was covered. They then advised me they were unable to find a service to bring a tire and mount it so they were sending a flatbed tow truck and it would take me to a tire service location. They advised the tow service would be there within the hour. It was and hour and fourty-five minutes before the tow truck arrived, but we're not complaining the traffic in the area was very bad. Once loaded we were taken to Discount Tires in less than twenty minutes. I give Coach Net a A Plus on the service they checked on us a couple of times before the tow truck arrived but the delay was due as stated to traffic. A lot better than the service I received from GS ERS.

RE: GPS navigation device vs. Smartphone

Howdy!
I for one see no need to purchase a stand alone GPS. We use a tablet and smart phone for our gps needs. Co-pilot USA Live app is our goto GPS and works great using the RV setting for our fulltime RV needs. You download the Co-Pilot maps so there is no need for a data connection when using the GPS app. I would spend the money on a good smart phone which you get many more uses out of other that just a phone or GPS. I like the new Samsung Note II smart phone/tablet. Some complain it is to large for a phone but as stated I use it for many other things besides a phone (internet, e-mail, GPS, weather, satellite finder, campgound RV park locater etc...) to many apps to list.
