RE: blown tire collision or comprehensive

Sounds like a defective tire to me & tire mfg should pay for damage.

RE: duramax temps

Definitely sounds like you need new thermostats. I just changed mine & I had the same problems you do.They are pricey at the dealer but, Auto Zone has both of them in a combo box for $38, made by Stant. Took about 30-45 min to change.

RE: Slides and wind

No need to retract the slides when high wind is blowing, they will be ok. I have been walking on my 96 model slide when it is in for 17 years now & it is still ok.

RE: Brake Life

I would "guesstamate", based on 35 years RVing, about 75,000 miles.I put 130000 miles on my first 5er & changed the linings once. My current 5er has 60-70000 miles & linings are about 25% left.

RE: brake problems

Don't laugh but my boy and I call it magic spraydeoxit d5 DEOXIT D5 and have saved literally thousand of dollars on electrical part that magically work again with this spray. not cheap but worth the money. this is a cleaner of contact and keeps them from acting up in the future, are baja bugs to the door switch controls.
sound like you have a poor connection and a cleaning may do it.

RE: Finding a well-built rig

I am brand-new to this forum. My wife and I are getting ready to enter the world of fifth wheel camping. We are looking for a higher-end, well-built unit since we plan to spend at least 3-4 months a year living in it. I had my heart set on the Keystone Alpine-- attractive floorplans, great features, etc, but lately I have been hearing negative things about the workmanship and more importantly, customer service. We plan to buy within the next 9-10 months and would appreciate any help from you members out there! Comments from Alpine owners?
After 25 years RVing I would look at,

RE: Can I use a 50 amp connection for my 30 amp RV?

The "dog bone" will give you 25 amps not 30 as it uses one leg of the 50 amp service. Most places that offer 50 amp service also have a 30 amp plug in the service box. But having the dog bone adapter is a good item to have, a few times my surge protecter showed a problem on a 30 amp plug and I used my adapter to run off of the 50 amp plug.
Noted. I don't have a surge protector. I should probably invest in one.
I have been RV ing for 32 years without a surge protector without any problems. Just lucky I guess after about 5000 nights on the road.

RE: Flexible Shrink hose

Jolooote,
Thanks for taking the bullet for the rest of us. I admit that I was tempted. Most of that junk that's demonstrated on TV must require weeks of practice by the demonstrator.
I must admit that I'm thinking of buying a couple of spray cans of that stuff that makes things waterproof. I have a fishing boat that has a bottom made out of a screen door and I spend all of my time bailing. :)
Yes John, it works very good if you clean the area very good first.

RE: 1998 sea breeze 2031 roof question

I would think that any 5er made in 1998 & had a rubber roof could be walked on. You might be careful in the area of the sloped part as some used thinner underlayment there.Test it gingerly.

RE: Furnace got me stumped.

If you have a low spot ahead of the furnace in your gas line, it might be full of "propane oil" that is stopping the propane flow.

RE: Burned out interior bulbs, DIC, radio and more - Poor design

My 01 Duramax going on 12 years & all work. Your local radio & tv repair guy can replace them. They are soldered in place & you need to be very skilled at soldering to do it.

RE: Low propane pressure

Sounds good, but don't just lay the open end on a paper towel. Cover it with a large rag as you may have 1/2 a cup of oil spraying all over.

RE: tore up skirting

Depending on which tire mfg, they may pay for the repairs. Goodyear fixed mine a few years ago.

If all else fails, you can get an external U S B plug in sound system under $20. I use Star Tech, works great.
