RE: Adventures Unlimited - Pensacola FL

Look at Ft.Pickens,we stayed there for the first time time last month. The area is really beautiful and old Florida. Just driving out the road to the cg is an adventure.

Roan Mtn. State Park, TN

Looking at going to this state park. Have always wanted to go there and since TN now have online reservations, I can reserve a site. Just don't know anything about the sites there. Any of you camped there, and have a favorite site? Our 5th wheel is 35ft. Thanks!

RE: Beachfront Camping

We recently returned from camping at Ft.Pickens, had never camped there and really enjoyed it. The area is beautiful! Also, our favorites are Henderson Beach and Topsail Hill. Have fun, we try to camp at the beach once a year, and we love those gulf area campgrounds.

RE: Chattanooga

Chester Frost is very nice, on the water, but they do not take reservations. Harrison Bay is a state park, on the water, and has a pool. TN state parks have online reservations now. Might be what you r looking for. Do not miss downtown Chattanooga while u r here.

RE: Campgulf

I would listen to Flagypsy. Henderson is a great cg with large, private sites. Beach is a short walk away, no crossing roads. We stayed at Camping on Gulf, sites were way to close and neighborly for us.

RE: KOA in Pigeon Forge,Tn

The KOA was really crowded when we stayed there. Not much room at all between sites. We really like River Plantation. Have heard some great things about Pine Mountain, but haven't stayed there. Hope to try it out soon.

RE: Best Sites at Curry Hammock & The Keys

Dennis is right on about the sites. We stayed in 22 that flagypsy posted. Loved Curry Hammock. The cg is small, and all the sites are nice. You will like 23, nice site. We loved Curry Hammock, just wish it wasn't so far.

RE: Ft. Pickens

Thanks, glad they have good cell phone coverage. I have a elderly Mom, and we are leaving a teen-age Son at home, so we need cell phone. Can't wait to visit Ft. Pickens.

RE: Florida Panhandle

When it is just me and the Hubby, we like the beach, and do not have to have activities. Topsail has one of the prettiest beaches I have ever been to. Hubby likes Henderson Beach because you can have a campfire, and it is close to stores, etc. We are going to Ft. Pickens next month. Have never been there, but have read good things about it. We like no crowds, large sites with privacy. These three places fit the bill for us.

RE: Trip to Florida?

When I was growing up, our vacation was to Daytona twice every year. That was the only beach I knew. After getting married, we visited the panhandle. I have not been back to Daytona after seeing the beautiful beaches of the Gulf. The beaches at Topsail Hill State Park or Henderson Beach in Destin are 2 of the prettiest I have ever seen, and I am a big beach bum!

RE: US 127 Yard Sale, August 1-4, 2013

Cumberland Mountain SP in Crossville TN is right on US-127. There are also some private RV parks in that area This cg is a good location. Usually full with yard salers. You can now make a reservation for TN State Parks online. Very nice park, and good location.

RE: Getting ready for Florida need help

Take up Luke Porter on his offer of Curry Hammock. Very nice state park, and a good location to see the Keys. Very hard to get a site at any of the state parks in the Keys, they are usually booked 11mos. out.

Ft. Pickens

We have reservations at Ft.Pickens in loop A. Know absolutely nothing about this cg. Have seen pics, and it looks really nice. How far is the beach from loop A? Can we walk or will we have to drive?

RE: Help us plan our trip! Update : looking for ocean stay help

Myrtle Beach, definitely, for kids your age. Ocean Lakes or Pirateland. For the Smokey's, if you want to be on the touristy side. I would recommend River Plantation or Pine Mountain, both in Pigeon Forge. If you want to be in Gatlinburg, Twin Rivers. Very nice aquarium in Gatlinburg. If you want to be closer to the Park, Elkmont, or for full hook ups, look at Tremont Hills or the KOA in Townsend.

RE: Tennessee State Parks

That's the problem with the new resrvation system. If you don't know that park, you have no idea what type site you are getting. I also don't like having to put in the dates for the specific site, if it is not available, they have no campground availability map. However, I am happy that you can finally reserve online. I know all the sites in the 2 local cgs we visit. Not being able to see pics of the sites, or see which sites are available might be a problem for those not familiar with the cgs.

RE: Tennessee State Parks

FCF has been doing online reservations for years... They are just adopting a new system to reserve all state parks. You could reserve the cabins and the inn online, but not the campsites. You had to call to reserve them.

Tennessee State Parks

Holy Cow! I can now reserve Fall Creek Falls online! Tennessee has finally done it! Needs some tweaking, but I no longer have to go on Wednesday to get a site for the weekend!
