Don't hold your Breath... Banks Make big dollars from the trusts,,, a Kickback here and there and all will be the same...
This would also be the end to a lot of parks..

RE: TIP for Residente Permanente

But now with your Permanent Resident card. You can import your Vehicle.. Just imported my Car a very easy process ..
Most U S states require there plates , if you reside there more then 90 Days.. Washington state will pull over out of state cars just to check there status .. all about the Tax dollars.. Mexico is just doing the same I did not pay taxes for ten years here in Mexico or the states all good things come to a end..

RE: Paying Traffic Tickets at OXXO

I have heard that bribing a policeman in the U.S. is more common these days.
Wrong info! Unlike Mexico where this is very common practice, if you even suggest this in the U.S. you will be locked up. If you have personal experience then let's hear it, but if not then why would you even suggest this?
Yes I have personal experience, twice. I vacation in Akumal every November. We fly into Cancun, rent a car and head south to Akumal, about 60 miles away. The police in Playa Del Carmen are notorious for the "mordida." Both times I was stopped for a non-existent violation, details are irrelevant. The officer asked for my drivers license, looked at it, handed it back, and proceeded to tell me what he was going to cite me for. He then asked for the license again with a big grin and held out his hand, palm up. I made a show of opening my wallet this time. My badge is in the center of my wallet and he could see it plainly. The smile faded, he asked, "Policia" I replied "No, Bombero, Capitan." Bombero means Fireman, and Capitan means captain. Both times the nice officer simply said "Have a nice day," in his best English and we were on our way.
The shuffle with the drivers license back and forth is to allow you to pull the folded money out with the license and put it in his hand. It may require more than one exchange depending on how much he thinks he can get.
The Chief of Police of Cancun is trying to stop the corruption and is working with the car rental agencies. The car rental agencies now give you a "Get out of Jail Free" card that explains the law and procedures for traffic stops. It also states you are allowed two minor offenses without being cited. The officer tears off a corner of the card so the next officer knows you have been stopped before.
I hope this clears up what I was saying. Sometime a $20 bill is a small price to pay instead of the hassle of the citation. By the way, I do carry two wallets. My badge wallet only has $20.00 in it so I can show the nice officer that is all I have. Fortunately the badge has worked both times I was stopped.
First they need to remove the stickers and signs saying its a rented car.. Tags you a tourist from the get go... been to cancun, pulled over two blocks from the car rental place , Like always refused to pay .. asked for the ticket and hurry up and get writing.. always works .. they are working on fear and can smell it.

RE: Paying Traffic Tickets at OXXO

At least here in Maz, cheaper to pay the ticket then the bribe.. 50 % discount if paid within 24 Hrs.... 125 peso I paid at the transito office no english required LOL .. will check OXXO next time I pay my water bill there ..
This does not happen NOB... unless you go to Court and Maybe the judge will lower it.. After you missed work to sit in court a few hours.. and then your Insurance goes up... Many towns use the Interstate that passes through there area as revenue "Protect and serve " or is it now "tax and collect " So same both South & North
I choose SOB anyday..

If you would like to Be out side of Mazatlan, The Cheapest park is 45 Miles North.. in Celestino 2000 Peso per month plus metered power ..
Use the KM 75 entrance, through Rosendo and you by pass all the aroyos and the celestino park maintains this rd.. Very mellow in Celestino..not for everyone.. but thre are a few longterm folks parked there..
the one thing about about not having many RVs in Mexico is no Reservations needed ..

RE: Where are all the RV'ers?

With the price of fuel, insurance ,tolls, and trailer parks that charge more than Apts and Houses here in Maz.. Don't see the parks making a Comeback.. cheaper to rent here.

RE: Where are all the RV'ers?

Just a lot less RVs in Mexico... the new generation are not buying RVs..
Yeah, I heard that the cartels have put a bounty on all American RV'ers and use their rv's for crossing drugs over the border.
you may be joking but I sure wouldn't put it past them to do something like that. I go into Mexico at Yuma and I watch my back. I am glad they don't let you drive across at Yuma, I can just see my hub caps full of drugs and trying to get back across.
Why would they waste there time with a hubcap full of drugs when they bring it across by the mega tons through the tunnels under your feet... Plus have not seen many cars that have hubcaps these days..

RE: Getting a Mexican cell phone

Purchase a Unlocked phone before you come down, ( Online ) so easy . With telcell you can purchase a plan No contract because its your phone
and choose a plan that fits your needs.. oe just pay as you go...It's not like it costs big bucks for a Mexican cell phone.
I paid the equivalent of $24 for a Telcel phone, with $8.00 worth of free minutes included. I can buy more minutes at the supermarket, convenience stores, etc.
Had one of those throw away phones, used a few years.. So nice to have a real phone that emails, built in gps etc
