RE: Connecting TT to 30a plug on Honda Genny

Thanks guys. I understand the limitations with the 2000 genny. We only use the genny once a year or so when camping at the beach and the occasional power failure at home.
My Dad actually has the other 2000w genny so we could couple them if we really wanted the AC. I heard it was better to have at least one of the companion gennys if you planned on using the AC due to its having the 30a plug. I'm guessing something like this is what I need then.

Connecting TT to 30a plug on Honda Genny

We just bought the 2000w Honda genny and was under the impression you could plug the TT directly into the 30a outlet on the genny. What do we need to connect it? We already have the dogbone to connect it to the house.

RE: Connecting LED Strip Straight To Battery?

I already have the parts so I'd like to use what I have instead of purchasing something else.

RE: bar fridge or cooler

What kind of cooler do you have? I have a Coleman Xtreme cooler and I can keep ice in it for 4 days. Even milk and other perishable items are great.
The thing with a fridge is that it will take time to cool down. We have a small bar fridge in our front storage that came with our TT. We load it up with brews before a trip so everything is nice and cold already. When we get to the CG we plug in and the fridge gets to work again but everything is ALREADY cold to begin with.

Connecting LED Strip Straight To Battery?

I installed a set of those LED light strips on the side of my camper under the awning. I purchased the proper supplies and have it being powered by my 12V system via a light fixture in my front storage. I drilled a hole through my TT at the awning arm because that's where the power cable for the awning goes through. It's a very clean install.
Anyway, I had to cut about 1' off the end of the strip to make it fit under my awning. I've tested the 1' section and it works perfectly. I'd really like to mount this smaller strip on the frame off my trailer by my steps so that they are more visible. I purchased another control box, remote and power plug in order to do this.
I was thinking of hiding the the LED control box in a waterproof junction box and sticking that under the TT somewhere. I'd simply have the eye and the power plug sticking out from the junction box but I'd silicone that hole to seal it.
How would I get power from my battery though? What gauge wire should I use?
Any suggestion on anything? I do have an inline fuse already too.

Lifan Generator?

My Dad currently uses a single 2000w Honda generator. He only uses it for one, maybe two trips a year since he always wants an electric site.
My brother bought his own TT and is looking for his own genny. He's in the same boat, onl looking to use it for one or two trips a year. He was interested in the 2,000w Honda but is also pondering the larger 3,000w so he can run the AC.
A friend of mine just bought a 3,600 w lifan generator. It's about $100-$200 more then the 2,000w Honda. Anyone have experience with it?
Here's the link.

RE: Picture From Last Saturday Night....

Obviously you are now just being argumentative for it's own sake. Go troll on another board.
Nope, not at all. I'm the OP of this thread. You know, the guy with the projector. I'm simply pointing out how you have a problem with a projector on a camper while others might have a problem with YOUR rv in a campground.
What would YOU think if a tent person said they didn't like your rv blocking their views and how they didn't belong in a campground?

RE: Can You Permanently Mount An Inverter To A Camper?

Yes, some inverters are capable of being wired directly into the load center, powering your outlets. Another way to accomplish this is to plug your shore power cord into the inverter.
I guess plugging the TT cord into the inverter will work but then I'd have to hook/unhook when running the genny twice a day. I'd like to make it as easy as possible from the start.

Can You Permanently Mount An Inverter To A Camper?

Is there a way to wire an inverter to the battery that will power the outlets in the camper? We dry camp once or twice a year and we do have a portable inverter to power the TV/DVD during the day and a cpap at night. Our 12V plug is a bit of distance from the bedroom so we'd have to run an extension cord to the bedroom. It's doable, just not ideal. It would be easier if we could just get some juice from the regular outlet.

What is a good place to stop while traveling up there from Long Island? Just a place to stretch your legs and break up the trip a bit.

RE: STRANGE OCCURRANCE

We live on Long Island and we were camping at the beach before Hurricane Sandy hit last fall. We were going to leave Sunday night but got evacuated Sunday morning with the storm set to hit Monday evening. It was my brother's first time out in his new camper and his first experience using the built in black tank sprayer. We had a FHU site. As you can imagine, we were in a bit of a rush. My brother brought his TT to my driveway for the storm.
About a week or two later my brother stopped by to check on the TT. I don't know why, but for some reason he knelt down by the sewer cap and took it off. He got a nice dose of gray/black water before closing the valve to shut it off.
In his rush to evacuate, he never closed the valves after he was done dumping.

RE: Bicycle stolen at Sam Town Las Vegas

This is not funy, but I personaly suffer the loss of my bicyle last night, locked to my motor home with a heavy cable that it was cutted witha bolt cutter at Sam Town RV Park in Vegas, the bad part is that only Security came down and just handed me a form to fill with name and description of the stolen item and that is all, no one else including the ront office or manager showed any consern at all....seems to me that this is a very comon thign to happen here so just becarful......
The worst part is that I have a space very open, lighted, neighbors,25 yards from the office, secuerity patrol comes aroud every so offten, so all this means to me that there is no real Security and it is a not safe park to leve your stuff out side of your RV.. all of this is for all of you to be carfull....thigns like this happen every where...
Sorry for your loss. That's why I only bring my 12 year old rusty, junky mountain bike when camping. Will I be upset if someone takes it, yes. I'd be more upset if someone peddled away with my $800 bike though.

RE: Question re: LP tanks in FW

Have you considered a space heater if you have an electric site? We will NEVER use the furnace again for heat unless we have to. We use the same heater in a 26' rear living and a 28' bunkhouse with great results!

RE: Lake George RV Park Questions.....

I'm the original poster. We were planning to go in the summer of 2014 but we might try to head up this August. We'll have to see what happens. Any more comments on this park? Is the 400 section the best to get for us?

There's 2 campers in the family so I bought 40 of them. I've haven't put all of the panels in yet because I don't know how my Dad feels about them in his camper.

RE: LED lighting recommendations

Want to replace all the bulbs in our new motorhome with LED's. went around and counted 21 bulbs that I need to replace. They are the wedge type like this. Can y'all recommend where you bought yours at?
Any recommendations on the type?
I use these LED's.
They produce a similar color and intensity as your current bulbs.

RE: Camper Slides Forward When Unhitching

If it's a 2-axle use X-type chocks (or make your own - easy). Otherwise all of the above.
I actually have a set in the mail as I type. I've heard mixed reviews about installing them prior to unhitching so I think I'd rather err on the side of caution and only install them once I'm level.

RE: Using slide outs when RV not level

Well, you'd want the trailer to be level no matter what or else you could damage the fridge if you are running it. As long as the TT is somewhat level you should be fine.
