RE: Winegard Minimax Satellite Dish

Thanks, but those are all posts from a previous thread I had started. Im still looking for individuals that are currently using the Minimax.

Winegard Minimax Satellite Dish

I was wondering if anyone out there has installed the Winegard Minimax Satellite Dish on their RV? I am not referring to the portable model. Just wanted to know if you are satisfied with the performance, was it easy to install, and if there are any good prices available.

RE: Winegard Minimax Vs. Winegard Portable

I like the ladder mount idea but I have a few concerns with it. The price of over $200 is very high, running wires the length of the motorhome, and if the dish will be in the way of my generator exhaust (genturi). Again I like the idea and have not ruled it out, but those are my concerns with the ladder mount. Also the portable and minimax are not "exactly" the same. The minimax is a little bigger in diameter and weighs a little more.

RE: Winegard Carryout GM-1518

I think the chances of one of these being stolen in a campground are very slim, but that is just not something I want to have in the back of my mind when camping. Plus when we are tailgating and overnighting in walmart parking lots the permanent mount will be much more convenient. The techs at camping world told me they are getting much higher signals out of the minimaxes/portables than they are out of the winegard roadtrips.

RE: Winegard Carryout GM-1518

Above is a very good deal. Im leaning toward going with the Mini Max which is the exact same sat. as the portable but is permanently mounted. I know there will be times when trees are in the way, but no worry about it walking off.

RE: Winegard Minimax Vs. Winegard Portable

Anyone using the Minimax from Winegard? I spoke with a Tech at Camping World and he said they were getting higher signal strengths with the Minimax than they were with the Roadtrips.

RE: Winegard Minimax Vs. Winegard Portable

You might try ebay. I have a Winegard Dome and like it. Todays price for this is around $1100. The portable costs less and you do have the ability to move it around when under trees. But, we do like being able to press a button and have service, Bob Thanks Bob, im with you I like being able to press a button and watch TV.

Winegard Minimax Vs. Winegard Portable

These are the two satellites im deciding between for my class a motorhome. I understand that with the portable I will probably be able to get signal in more campgrounds, but I dont really like the thought of having to lug it in and out and running cable plus im a little worried about it being stolen. The ladder mount just seems too expensive and a pain to use. Plus nights we are in wal-mart parking lots I wont be able to use the portable. Ill be using direct tv and have no desire for HD at this time. What else am I missing? What are the advantages and disadvantages for each? Can either of these be bought for cheaper than the $799 price from camping world with free shipping?

RE: bowling green ky

There are only 2 campgrounds in Bowling Green. The KOA is much better than the campground at Beach Bend.

RE: Kentucky, places worth visiting?

I would come when Keeneland is racing this fall and do the horse and Bourbon Trail tours. The Kentucky Horse Park is a nice centrally located place to stay. Keeneland lets motorhomes stay at the track, but I'm not sure for how long. They are very accommodating people with great 24 hour security, so I'm sure you could call them and work something out. It would be advantageous to stay at Keeneland after the races so you won't have to drive! Do a search on Keeneland to see all the very fun things to do there. Can anyone elaborate on the possibility of staying the night in your RV at Keeneland. I know where they park during the day, but I did not know if they would allow staying over night. Any details would be great. Thanks. I just called Keeneland and spoke to a security officer. He said in past meets overnight parking (NO HOOKUPS!) is permitted provided guests are well behaved and do not trash the grounds. He wanted this confirmed by his supervisor for this meet, for whom I left a message a minute ago. When he calls me back, I will post his response. Keeneland folks are usually very easy to work with. They are VERY sensitive about DUI's, as they should be. I have personaly observed RV's parked off the new entrance at the end of Man O' War road on the left at the end of the road, but they may be permitted elsewhere. Since they sell alcohol at the track, it isn't unusual for vehicles to be left overnight on Keeneland grounds after a day of racing. I doubt anyone would notice you. Heard from the supervisor. No joy. Shows the difference in attitude between the guy who enforces the rules, from the head guy who sets official policy, hence the saying "I'd rather ask for forgiveness than permission." He says OK for the day but they ask they be removed by the end of the day. Thanks for the update, I figured it was a long shot but after your first post I got a little excited. Im sure there are some places close by we could park and then arrive real early and stay late without and trouble.
