RE: Dometic Class Action

They are refusing to cover labor for mine and both parts and labor for several thousand others. They went cheap on the thickness of the tubing and the result was cracked tubing and fires resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars to consumers (you and I). The older units had thicker tubing and thus no cracks.
They should take care of all units within the recall if the tubing cracks. If Ford has lets say a recall for a master cylinder..... because of a crack. Do the JB Weld it and send it on its way? No the replace the defective part regardless of warranty.
Here's something to compare it to....
Update: June 26, 2008
Cars:
Parts for the Speed Control System recall are available for passenger cars. Affected customers should contact their dealer to schedule a service appointment to have final repairs completed.
Trucks:
Parts for the Speed Control System recall are available for trucks. Affected customers should contact their dealer to schedule a service appointment to have final repairs completed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ford is conducting a voluntary safety recall involving speed control deactivation switch systems in 9.6 million vehicles.
The service action involves the installation of a fused wiring harness into the speed control electrical circuit, or the replacement of the deactivation system if it is found to be leaking. This is a quick repair, and will be performed on vehicles built between 1992 and 2004.
Ford dealers will provide this service to all affected vehicles at no charge to the customers. Owners of all affected vehicles will be notified by mail.

RE: Dometic Class Action

“The first priority of Norcold is the safety of our customers,” said Kevin Phillips, VP of Sales and Marketing for Thetford. “We continue to improve upon our products and these recalls are a result of that continuous improvement process.”
“There will be no charge for the parts and labor to repair the defect,” Phillips noted. “We encourage customers to bring their unit to a Norcold Service Center as soon as possible to ensure their continued safety.”

Still in warranty but knowing they've had this many failures, the should cover the labor as well.

RE: Dometic Class Action

With all of the fires and millions of dollars lost by a poor design; someone should PAY. It's all about the mighty dollar with them so hit em where it hurts. They don't seem to care about us, their customers.

Dometic Class Action

Is anyone aware of any pending class action against Dometic regarding the refer fires, refer recalls or the leaks?
I've done the recall and noticed the dreaded smell a few days ago. Now Dometic will only take care of parts (no labor) for a known defect. If there is not a class action in effect, there should be!!!

Check out the Coachmen Blast http://www.adrenalinerv.com/products/model/?SeriesID=17&Series=Blast
The 210MPH is 4115lbs and perfect for a 1/2 ton.
Just found a few in the $14k range; not a bad deal.

RE: Car seats in Buggy?

As an installer....
If you can get them into a child seat (height/weight) they'd be much safer. Where do the shoulder staps hit the 6 year olds? And without a doubt on the 3/4 year old.

Dexter's Hydraulic Disc Brakes
You remember the old joke—How do you stop a charging Rhino?...You take away its charge card. But how do you stop a 15,000 pound Toyhauler? You call the Dexter Axle Company!
