RE: boxed curtain valances

Mine has Robertson screws(square head)...I used a long driver with my cordless drill.....tightened the one I kept in the 5ver and removed the ones I didn't like. Easier to put the blinds up and down.

RE: ROOF CLEANING AND TREATING

RE: 5th Wheel Travel with Large Dogs

We have two labs...one @ 140 lbs. and one @ 70 lbs. They both ride in our crewcab from which I removed the rear seat to give them more room. Have not had any problems....lots of dog breaks.

RE: Sedona, AZ to Prospect, OR (sw of Crater Lake)

Nothing wrong with Hwy. 62...good road. Are you going to go thru Crater Lake NP?? If not....when you get to Klamath Falls...on Hwy. 140...keep on over the hill to White City and hit Hwy 62 there. Prospect is approx. 60 miles up 62 at that point.

RE: PRNDL Indicator repair

Get it so it reads right.....you may need a lower gear sometime in your 4R100 tranny and it will not go in. Pull the cover down on the bottom of the column. If the shifter is loose....there are 2 Torx screws(one on each side of the column)...they are way up in there but those need to be tightened. Next....you will see a little black wheel on the right side.....I have usually blocked wheels...put in neutral and turn the wheel till it is in the middle if "N".... check out all other gear positions and adjust if need be. Usually only takes about 10 minutes to do this.

RE: Resealing Roof Joints and Penetrations

I have just over some spots on mine. I would think if there is a big build-up...just cut away a little with a razor blade and add the Dicor. It is great stuff!

RE: Inside Stairs

Check with your manufacturer. On my Wildcat...which I bought used....there was a set of steps that fit over the original ones and took it from 2 steps to 3 steps along with a handrail. I was all factory made by Forest River. The steps were made of wood and removable. I took them out and tossed them as I did not need them.

RE: Need a new tailgate

Just sold mine for a couple hundred dollars as I use my 5th wheel tailgate all the time. A simple hose clamp on the p/s pin part of the tailgate will deter most thefts.

RE: Balancing RV tires

I have written this before, but no one cares. The hubs/drums on trailers are not balanced. Of the 18 I have personally checked, not one was in balance, the worst was 5.5 oz. out. You can balance the tires all you want but the assembly, most likely, will be out of balance. The hubs and drum on vehicles are not balanced either....but you still balance the tires.

RE: Opinions wanted.

Did not know that a F150 came with a 5.0 V-8 in 2011....should be a 4.6.

RE: CA 199 from Crescent City, CA to Grants Pass, OR

A couple of narrow spots and tight curves on 199...but a good rad otherwise. I have pulled on the road many times and never had a problem. 18 wheelers use that all the time also. Plenty of passing lanes.

RE: KOA Reservations vs what you get when you arrive

Only had a problem with a KOA one time and it was not a major one. Had reserved a site 3 weeks in advance for 2 nights. Full hookup site. Got there and they said they had no sites left with a sewer connection left....just electric and water...but on Sunday when I was going to leave they said I could dump for $2.00 instead of the standard $4.00. Then cam back later and said the dump charger would be waived.

RE: Rolling Kitchen Cart with granite counter top

We really wanted an island...but nor permanent. Bought a 30" upper kitchen cabinet from Lowes...mounted some 3" hard rubber swivel casters on the bottom...1/2" finished plywood which was sanded and Verathaned 4 times. When we do not need it...unlock the casters and move it out of the way. Made a whole lot of storage that we did not have before.

RE: Dometic 9100 Power Awning Recall.

Just received this notice from Dometic today at my dealership. The recall is for the electric motor used on OEM awnings installed from the factory. If your coach was produced between February 13, 3013, serial #305xxxxxx through April 9, 2013, serial #314xxxxxx and has a Dometic power awning, you may want to check with Dometic. The issue is that the awning could deploy either standing still or while driving. This recall may also apply if you had your awning motor replaced around the same time. Call 1-888-943-4908 for information. Feb. 13,3013????

RE: Best Oil Filter

The ones I have used at work for our cars and trucks on the Dodge products....have been Motorcraft FL-820S. Use them on our Ford cars and found out they fit a Nitro we have plus a Dodge Ram 2500 with the hemi. Also used them on a Charger we had that run to 168K before being replaced. Never a problem with them. Also use them on my V-10 Ford.

RE: Oregon As State Of Residence

Yes, but you will have to pay sales tax on the vehicle from your resident state, assuming the state has sales tax. Since I have lived in Oregon (10 years) I have purchased four trucks, five motorcycles and 5 recreational vehicles and other high priced appliances and no sales tax on any of them. Oregon also has low DMV fees. Where I use to live CA, DMV fees were 5 times what I pay here, property tax was more and you have to pay 10 cents of every dollar to the state for everything you purchase. And if you live in Ca you can't buy a new vehicle or one with less than 7000 miles on it out of state. Now if want to talk about Oregon weather.....It rains here......alot..... If you live in California...you can buy a car or truck out of state with less than 7000 miles on it....I know many people who have new cars and truck bought in Oregon and live in California.

RE: Mountain roads from Orland to Trinidad, CA

Looking at going from Crescent City to Eureka and then over to Redding area. We are using a Suburban to pull a 30 ft. TT .. and I see by the Good Sam Routing that there are several Mountain Directory Advisory sites ... how doable is this? And yes, I saw on another posting that there are no guard rails and this is a truck route .. any clarification or experience driving this route wold be appreciated. I have used 299 a lot. When I lived in Redding....that was the only I took to the coast. Good road...a few grades but nothing to stand in your way. Always took me about 3 hours with my 5th wheel.
