RE: Atwood Furnace problem

Did you purge the LP lines by opening a burner and waiting for the stove to light? If not it may take several tries for the furnace to light.
Ditto - and did you open the propane tank valves - very slowly? It is possible the tech turned them off.

RE: how long can black water be kept "on board"?

Do a search on the Forum for 'sewer flies' and you won't want to keep it very long.

But why be surprised. It has nothing to do with our lifestyle - Rving is our subject matter.

RE: Canada Wireless

friend joeb. has said it all. To repeat - most communities in Canada have libraries with wifi available ( federal subsidy, I believe). For telephone we also use a walmart prepaid phone card at pay phones.

RE: Banff full hookups 2010

I have a trip already planned only to find out that about 100 of the 300 full hookup sites will be out for repairs in 2010. To top it off the reservations will not start until early April 2010 per last years schedule.
Question are there any full hoopups close to Banff. I do not seem to find any within 25 miles.
So what is your problem. Lastyear I had NO trouble getting afull hook-up site in Tunnel Mountain Cg for Labour Day weekend and the following week and I did not get on line until April something! And yes - one third of that cg was closed last year also - for repairs (new sewer/water lines) So don't give up if that is where you want to be. We also like the fhu sites in Lake Louise cg.

Arizona snowbird business has rebounded

According to an article in todays Arizona Republic newpaper - in Mesa alone there are more than 44,000 RV sites! A survey of several of the larger Parks reservations for this season are way up and cancellations of earlier reservations are down. Several parks, based on reservations, expect to have 90-95% occupancy in Jan,Feb, Mar.
Yuma area has over 24,000 sites and parke are reporting similar numbers.
An older survey by AZ State University School of Business estimated that snowbirds contributed over 1 billion dollars to the AZ economy!

RE: Any square dance campers out there?

Our winter quarters RV park has at least 3 square dance sessions every week - regularly scheduled in one of our two ball rooms. Many dancers in the Mesa area and lots of the Parks schedule dances.

RE: Do I need a reservation

Absolutely you need reservations in Tucson for that time period. Feb., almost all month, is Rock/gem show time and cgs fill up. Then march is baseball spring training for Denver Rockies, Chicago Cubs and AZ Diamondbacks and those also draw lots of Rvers.
A few years ago - being unaware of the impending rock how we were in a Tucson cg the last week of January and then wanted to extend - NO luck - had to move on!

RE: Weight formula for 5th Wheel

Good advice above but as jimlin says - what soze Sivrado do you have? Then ask your dealer for the tow rating ( or check chevy website and go from there. Hope thatis NOT a 1500! An '04 1500 was not built to tow a fiver!

RE: Mail Service Problems from Florida - Anybody Else?

I queried the owners of America's mailbox in South Dakota for comments on the FL situation. here is his answer; Quote "We sold the Florida office to our manager there over 2 years ago, since there was not a lot of interest among prospective members for a Florida home base. We have had nothing to do with the operations there since that time, and cannot comment on how it may be running." end quote
WE use A.M. in SD and have been impressed with their service. Sorry to hear the FL version no longer works for you.

RE: Highway 101 North of Seaside OR and Astoria WA

Yes - we travelled 101 from brookings OR all the way north and around the Oly. Peninsula finally leaving the peninsula at Port Townsend - ferry to Whidbey Island. Then across Highway 20 - the North Cascades national Park to pick up 97 at Omak where we could have gone up to Kelowna.
We were in Brookings on July 21 and at Omak Aug.2. Beautuful trip . 101 is good two lanes with occasional hills with passing lanes as it wind around ocean headlands We pull a 32 ft fifth wheel and had no troubles - great views. From Forks - take time to explore the Hoh rain forest, La Push and Cape Flattery - one day for each! But watch for the vampires at Forks. La Push. PM us if you want more info.

RE: Portland to Coast

To get the most enjoyment of the OR coast, from Portland take 26 to Seaside then follow 101 all the way. Any of the OR state parks along 101 will havew space available this time of year except, perhaps, on weekends. Enjoy!

RE: TUCSON TO BULLHEAD CITY IN MID MARCH

About the only way to avoid "hills" will be to ake highway 8 (Casa Grande) to Yuma then head north, following the Colorado River ( #95) all the way to Bullhead. Backtrack that same route to I 10 and then west to Palm Springs area. I do have to say - you are in the West. Avoiding hills is pretty difficult. Sort of like going east or west from Kelowna!

Neskowin Rv Park - just a few miles north of L. City has a nice indoor pool. It is a C2C park but might allow visitors- call and ask You might get a 3day-2night stay for freee if you listen to their 'pitch' - then just say no thanks.

RE: Black Tank..How Long Can It Go Without Being Emptied?

Doubt that you/they will want to wait '2-3 months" before dumping! Also (this based on personal experience - TWICE: Make sure your guests are fully aware of proper toilet use - that means LOTS of wtaer during and after each use - especially a B.M. Clearing that dreaded pyramid of doom is not fun and 'amatuers' / non rver folks just cannot concieve of the need to use LOTS of water!
good luck and do plan on dumping often!!

RE: Monument Valley

Thanks for all of the suggestions. The guided tour sounds like the way to go. Now, we'll have to decide which is the best guide. Any opinions?
Good decision but I think you don't get a choice. Sign up for the tour at the time you want and take the guide they have available.
We stayed at Gouldings Rv park - very nice cg - and signed up through the park office. Picked up and delivered right there!

Try your dealer for help. If that doesn't work call Outback directly. I had to do that once for my Cruiser.
