RE: Rank the Class A GAS build quality

I have a Winnie gas coach and think the way every inch of room is not wasted is great.I drive around 6,000 miles a year and it is in storage now for 5 months. The poster wanted to know about build quality .I think mine is good it is not like the big rigs but it ok for what we use it for.If I ever go full time then I would like a DP. That said for us part timers or weekend campers a gas MH is the way to go.I think a DP is built to be driven not stored for 5 months a year. Some day I would like a DP but for now I will be happy with my gas coach.IT is like a working man drives a Chev but some day would like to drive a Cadillac .

Moble 1 or Ford Blend

I just put my coach away for its 5 month slumber.I was at Wally world getting the blended Ford oil and noticed the moble 1 was on sale . The cost of the Moble 1 was twice the cost of the Ford oil. I put 6,000 miles a year on my coach give or take a few miles. I change it now November 1st and on the 4th of July .I always change the oil and drive it to storage with fresh clean oil and filter . Could I go a whole year and use Moble 1 or stay with the Ford Blended oil twice a year. It would be the same price.I change it my self and can change it in 20 min tops the valve I got helps .I am a stickler on oil changes and always change our cars every 3,000 miles. What do you experts say is there really that much difference in the blended oil and the Moble 1 and is is really that good to go a whole year with out changing . I tow a 4,600 pound Trailblazer and I know first hand how dirty the oil is after 3,000 miles .

RE: Affordability of full time RVing

I have read all post and agree that i you are debt free you can get by on a lot less. But if you have a 800.00 a month coach payment then that would be different.I know most people sell there house that took them 30 years to pay off and use this money to buy there coach and pay cash. And some have a coach all ready. I think there is no better feeling then driving my coach down the road not knowing what is around the next turn.It is the closest I can describe freedom . If you never have been in the drivers seat you will never understand this life style. I have a ways to go before I get to do this full time but love reading these post of you already doing it .

End of the Season blues

For the last two weeks been I have been getting coach ready for storage changed oil and winterizes pipes. Went in to town and filled tanks of gas and lp and pink stuff for the gas. Have to run gen set and fog it yet and next week it goes into storage from 10/31/2009 till 3/31/2010. A very sad time of year for us not snow birds or full timers. On a high note I traveled 5,242 miles this year and gas prices low of 1.89 to high of 2.85 July 4th .Went to Tampa for Spring Break and Myrtle Beach this summer. If I did not have this site and all of you great people to read and try to help out these Ohio winters would be a lot harder.Do any of you go through the blues at this time of year.

Lp tank how low can you go

We just got back from a weekend trip and want to get one more weekend in before we put it away for the winter . The gauge on the tank out side says 1/4 but inside it is blinking 1/4 to Empty. My question is have any of you ran your tank all the way down and did it hurt anything. We would like to get one more weekend in but it is getting real cold and used the lp furnace a lot this weekend. I like to top off tank when in storage for 5 months .

RE: Koni shocks on Ford F53

We have a 2003 Ford Coach and it made a big difference in our front ride comfort . We just changed the front shocks and plan on doing it in the rear next year. I think if you are replacing the oem shocks you will feel a lot of difference. I can listen to my cd player now and not the big crash when hitting big bump is a lot better.I think they are worth the money . These things will never drive like a car they are a truck related rail.

Camping World EZ Pay Rip off

I just got my statement from Camping World and since we put 36.00 dollars on our account after the 800.00 dollars we put on for new tires and fan 12 month same as cash . We now have to pay 23% interest on that 36.00 dollars for a year or till we pay off the account . What a rip off . Needless to say we will pay this bill off in full and never use this card again . Just a heads up if you do have one do not put anything else on it our you will pay .

RE: problems with Camping World

I have been a member of there club for years and have always had good luck ordering on line or in the store. But this Spring we had some work done on our coach and it was a night mare . I will stick to buying my camping stuff from them but It will be a long time before they touch my coach again. Also when they closed the Elkart Store we have to travel 300 miles round trip to Detroit to go to a store. The best store is in Tampa by Lazy Days .

RE: Cupping of Front Tires on Towed Vehicle

I bought a new 2006 Trailblazer and it has 27,000 miles on it but I have towed it around 18,000 miles on it . so I have 45,000 miles on the tires. The front tires do ware on the out side of the tires. I have rotated them front to back but soon I will need to replace them. I think the rest of you are right .It is because you are towing that they are waring funny.

RE: Campground Memberships

We bought ours two years ago bought resale and paid close to 500 dollars and all ready have paid us back and then some. We pay 80.00 dollars for Coast to Coast and 50.00 dollars for our home park in Georgia. We go to Myrtle Beach twice a year to Briarcliffe RV Resort and spend 7 days in April and 7 days in Sept.My daughter teaches in Conway high school and her place is just 10 min from our rv resort. Just these two weeks pay our membership cost. We also use it the rest of the year to.Some times the parks are out of the way and we are week end campers not full time .When we do go full time it will be even be better. You do have to use it to make it worth while . The trick is buy from a whole seller we got ours from Florida off the internet. hope this helps.

RE: How upside down are you with your loan?????

We are not up side down we bought a 3 year old coach 3 years ago and if I would sell now I would break even or 5 to 10 thousand up . I wold lose between 15 to 20 % of what I paid for it. I did not buy this coach to make money but the free dome of this life style is pricless to me.

coach batterys have clean up

I am getting the coach ready for a 1,900 round trip to Myrtle Beach and back and thought I would check the batterys. When I pulled the step to see the batterys I had a mess. Mostly on the camper batterys was the white pouder stuff all over . I pulled them out and gave them a bath with baking soda soultion . My wife likes sower cream and I filled up a small container with this white battery acid. All is good now and cleaned all the cables and sanded all the wire ends to a shinie copper shine .I have had this before but not this bad. We did give the batterys a work out at the FMCA Ralley last month but have never had this big of a mess. The coach batterys are 3 years old and is this normal or are they trying to tell me they are on there last legs.I would like to hear from you experts out there for any help you can give me .

Great service from Cummins at BGSU Rally

Our Gen set ran great for the first three days of the rally but when I went to start it up at 7.00 am for some TV and breakfast it would not start. Went to the Cummins Owan booth and they sent out a crew to check it out . To make it a short story they had to pull the gen set out of our coach and had it running in our coach the next day . The best part was they would only let me pay the 80.00 dollars in parts no labor. I did get them to take some ice cold bottled water as they worked . This is my first national rally and when I get my first DP it will be a Cummins . I think this is great service on a 6 year old 4.0 gen set with 500 hrs on it .The motor mounts where shot and only one was holding the gen set up. When the third mount gave way it busted the pin in the crank shaft and put it out of time . They also did a oil change and new spark plug and air cleaner while the had it out . I just thought some of you would like to hear of some good news on this site . I am one happy camper
