RE: Fueling Limits at Pumps, Grrrrrrrrr!

Yaknow, I've NEVER had this problem since I learned to punch the "pay inside" button and take my card with....and that's with up to 75 or 80 gallons of diesel last year.....not a big deal to "go inside" since it's not miles down the road from the pump and it always feels good to stretch the legs...IMHO, of course

RE: Taylor Park CO

Goldsp8, I would love to know why they only list half of the electric sites on line as reservable. The other half are not listed. Are they being occuplied by NFS employees doing work in the area or what? If they are walk in then like most places they would be listed as such. I can't get anyone at any office anywhere to come up with an answer. I would really appreciate it if you would come back and solve this mystery for me. Just curious, thanks.
Noticed the same thing.....were at Lakeview last month and were told by host that they were "first come-first serve"...host was Texan and most "nonreservable" were occupied by Texans...not sure if that is significant but the listing on reservation site certainly is no help in explaining the situation...IMHO, of course

RE: Taylor Park CO

As an addendum...if you are SELFSUFFICIENT (ie generator, water, etc) then site #2 (reservable) is the BEST site for view in the WHOLE campground (including electrics)...IMHO, of course

Lakeview has a lower circle w/electric but I don't think you can reserve.....first come, first serve.....find more info at recreation.gov under Lakeview Gunnison...

RE: My rant on Satellite tv

I did talk to a tech who said many people have trouble getting satellite signal at Pawnee lake, that I should go camping to enjoy the outdoors. He is probably right but I really wanted to watch the news.
If you are referring to Lakeview cg at Pawnee SRA, I've been there MANY times and gotten a signal from DISH every time......many people forget the "check switch" step while setting up and this leads to probs.......a good compass helps also....the idea of covering the 110 lnb sounds interesting(it IS the easier of the 2 signals to find) and I may try that next time out.....I have found that once 110 has locked I merely elevate and turn south a few degrees and acquire 119 signal from there....IMHO, of course

RE: You ever stay in a Walmart parking lot?

We did once...due to 3 factors...local cg full, high cross winds on hwy, and security lights/cams in WM parking lot....and I DON'T badmouth anyone who elects to overnight rather than headon my rig because of sleep depravation...IMHO, of course

RE: Awning Strap Replacement

Just a little FYI to add to the above comments....my A&E awning can be stopped st any point along it's travel....this allows me to stop the awning just before fully extended and at that point the slide end is out of the way of the support arms and the slide end has an opening to remove or add anything (ie light strips, straps, etc) without drilling any holes...IMHO, of course

RE: Full Hookup Campground

In July of this year we stayed at Pine Grove RV Park in
Blair, NE Pine Grove.
It is about 1/2 hour from Omaha and was very nice.
Uh, you missed BLAIR by about 50 miles but your distance from Omaha is about right......Pine Grove is ACTUALLY about 25 to 30 miles southwest of Omaha between Omaha and Lincoln while Blair is northeast of Omaha.....FYI.....FULL hookups may be difficult but many comment on Haworth Park in Bellevue....about 15 miles south of Omaha....IMHO, of course

RE: It's almost Football season.

Concerning your tire question...do a search on this forum and you will find tires discussed ad nauseum...I personally go by an inspection from a reliable tire dealer.......good luck with your tailgating

RE: MICE !

Had the same problem while on trip to Colorado (although the mice were ALREADY aboard when we left home)......best solution I found was snap trap behind a bathroom lower drawer where they couldn't drag it away to die and rot.....caught 6 little "pests" before we eradicated the "family".....none since but the trap remains loaded and checked every couple days....IMHO, of course

Well, your "tire" question is turning into a "tired" sports forum...Is this not what you intended in the first place or do you REALLY want to know about tires??? If you do, please verify... IMHO, of course

RE: Campgrounds on the Niobrara near Valentine NE

Many outfitters along the Niobrara have camping sites (some with hookups). Two that come to mind are Rocky Ford Outfitters and Sunny Brook camp and canoe outfitters. Can't give you the fees but if you PM me I have some phone #s....
PS...under my places to stay list-RV hookups is listed Dryland Aquatics, Heartland Elk Ranch, Merritt Trading Post and Resort, Wood Lake city park and Cody city park......phone #s for these also...good luck

RE: Tires

All right since you asked for "opinions" I will give mine. I've been reading all these tire posts on the forum for quite a few years now without comment but now I'm going for my 2 cents. I don't subscribe to this "tire paranoia" that has been going on. I've driven everything from farm tractors to 5000 gallon tankers for nearly 50 years and NEVER had tire trouble because of "age". That applies all the way back to "pre steel radials". My feeling is that your driving habits and speeds are what qualify your tire fears. Personally, if your tire dealer feels they're good to go, why not believe him? After all, he SELLS tires. Why would he miss a sale just for you? The tires I'm running are dated 2003 and my dealer also has said they're good for more miles. I do take the unit out once a month year-round so as to "exercise" the rubber and I generally keep my speed at or below 62 MPH....IMHO, of course

RE: Lander Wy RV Parks

If you want to get a little closer try Longhorn RV in Dubois.
We drove through this cg while in the area...seemed well arranged and the people were friendly.....we were staying in a SP near Lander at the time but the Longhorn would have been closer to your destination....IMHO, of course

RE: "Step Out" Light on instrument panel

Try watching the dash display while someone holds the steps "in".....if the light on the dash goes out you either need to adjust the "in" position or just run the steps in and out rapidly several times to get some motion into the step retraction...I got lucky with the second remedy...several in and outs and some lube and no problems since....IMHO, of course

RE: NEW OREGON PARKS POLICY

how many of you have gotten online to reserve only to find that the site is being "renewed" daily by the original party for more days than the originally allowed "14"?....now THAT is aggrevating!!! IMHO, of course
On the OTHER side of the coin, how many have been camping in a site only to have it reserved out from under you by someone sitting at home in his undershirt sipping on a cold beer while you're actually AT the campground using the site? It works both ways. :)
Can't say I've EVER had that opportunity...when the site has been OCCUPIED it shows as "not reservable"...at least from the 2 reserve sites I use
