RE: Day/Night Shades Question

We have day/Night shades currently and am thinking seriously about getting regular blinds soon. We have had to restring many of the current ones a couple of times. The sun and lots of use seem to be killers to the strings. Each restringing takes about an hour or so, with larger ones taking over two hours. Not a difficult job but time consuming. Something to consider BEFORE changing. :(

RE: Carriage Cameo

Here is an old website for Carriage Owners (www.Carriageowners.net)you may find interesting. I know there is a more current forum out there, but I had difficulty using it, so I did not include it here. There is a lot of useful information at this forum and lots of advice from Carriage owners. We have the same model in a 2010 year and had issues with the tires being defective and plumbing leaks, all of which have been fixed. Also the independent suspension on both sides failed after 6,000 miles as well. MorRyde took care of this issue even though the unit was out of warranty, they covered the parts. Overall I think you will enjoy this model............... :)

RE: New fiberglass... what to do to keep it that way?

I have always used NuFinish polish on my gel coated fiberglass units. In over 20 years, I have never had any issues using this product. It is easy on and easy off.................and leaves a great shine.

RE: Phoenix Area CG's

Try Palm Creek in Casa Grande, AZ about 40 minutes from Phoenix. They have their own golf course and 1800 sites. The campground is immaculate with MANY activities............

RE: Bigfoot Leveling System

We have the Bigfoot on our Cameo Fifth wheel and have experienced very little issues with it. One issue we recently had was we had the fifth wheel in for some repairs and the RV dealer where we took it was not familiar with the operational use of the Bigfoot (even though they said they were)and accidentally wiped out the level settings. We have not found a level enough spot to relevel and store the information in the system but plan to do so in the near future. Bigfoot was very helpful in explaining how to re-program the system.

RE: Best method to keep water hose from freezing ?

Check with Camping World. They sell (for about $100) a 25 foot electified heated hose. They claim the heated hose will keep water from freezing from faucet into your unit................I just undo the hose at night and let it drip onto the ground so the faucet does not freeze............Most campgrounds use this method to avoid damage to the faucets

RE: Looking for REASONABLY Priced RV Park in Florida..

Two parks which fit you requirements are Recreation Plantation (about $780 a month) which is located in Lady Lake, Fl., right next to THE VILLAGES ... is great. Also located in general area (20 miles away) is Old Mill Stream CG which has about the same monthly prices. Both parks have lots of activities but spaces are limited. You will have a better chance with Old Mill Stream as they recently expanded some camping areas. They are in the center of FL and not on the ocean.

RE: New Trailer - Extended Warranty

Most extended warranties appear to be a joke when you need them most. There are usually alot of hidden cost (including labor) at times. Most repairs you need right away are not near the place you bought the trailer from. I think it is best to take the advise of Barney S. above. Buy GS Emergency coverage (I think it is $99.00 for two years service as a new customer) but could be wrong on the exact amount. We have utilized this service a couple times for flat tires and found it to be well worth the costs.

RE: Some Basics

I also have a spray in liner in our truck bed. It also is a LineX. We are very happy with this liner and we do not find that it interferes in any manner with the bed, fifth wheel or anything else. I read your previous post regarding quality fifth wheels. We had a Travel Supreme and now have a Carriage Cameo and found both units to be well constructed.

RE: Mount Rushmore SD area ideas

We stayed in Custer for five days...............Many things to do in Custer area, most described above. In addition to the above listed, we went to the National Woodcarving Museum, Custer State Park and took the Needles Highway road as well as the Wild Life road. Both were exciting. Wind Ca ve National Park and Jewel Cave National Monuments are within 20 miles of where you will be staying. Go to Hill City and eat at the Alpine Cafe, a German Restaurant that specializes in Fillet at a very cheap price. Cash only! so don't forget to take cash with you. Of course Mt. Rushmore, and Crazy Horse which are basically across the street from where you will be. The Badl ands NP is about an Hour and a half away along with Wall Drug.

RE: Overnite stay I 75 Florida Ga state line

We have stayed a number of times in Jennings, FL about MP 2 or 3. Very friendly, easy in and out.............I think there is only one campground there, but am not sure. The one we stay at is a GS

RE: GPS Question

We had a Garmin Street Pilot which no longer could be updated and we saw on HSN a new Magellon unit. Without a lot of research we purchased it. What a MISTAKE. It could not find our house nor did it have half the regular long established roads in our area. We returned it and again (after some research) bought a Garmin Nuvi 1450lmt. It has been wonderful, even finding some privately named roads in the area. Good luck but IMHO Garmin is a better unit

RE: Backing up a fifth wheel

IMHO Most people turn the steering wheel way too much. I keep my hands on the top of the steering wheel and Make small corrective turns, returning the steering wheel to the same position after every correction and walk the trailer back into the desired parking position. It works better than over steering. Practice in an empty lot.

RE: Magellan Roadmate vs Rand McNally Tripmaker GPS

We have had Garmin twice, Magellan and TomTom once each. Without a doubt I would choose garmin again without hesitation. The magellan had my house .6 miles from where it was and numerous roads listed with the wrong names. I was very dissapointed
