RE: AC Thermostat not accurate
Thanks b salgado, I think you're on the right track. Like I said thecompressor would kick in if I dropped the temp setting to 50. The air blows cold but then popped the breaker sometime in the night. I noticed it did seem to struggle more than usual when the compressor would kick in lately.
It's a 2004 15k dometic unit. I'm guessing the capacitors are pricey? or should I replace them both. Thanks for your help.
RE: AC Thermostat not accurate
Thanks for the input guys but I think my problem might be a little deeper. Last nite the breaker in the trailer popped twice and shut the ac down, right now I'm just running the other unit, any ideas?
AC Thermostat not accurate
When I got into my 5er today, I put the unit on cool and it started running as it always does. After about 20 min. I noticed the ducts didn't seem to be blowing cold air. I checked the thermostat and it was on 70 where I always leave it. Now it's been 90 here for the past week, so no way is it below 70 in here, but I noticed when I slid the thermostat colder I heard the compressor kick in at about 50.
Anybody have any idea of what's going on here, it seemed to be working fine yesterday.
RE: Converter Fan Cycling
OK BFL ya got me. lol Just put the charger in the rv with all the rest of my junk and it looks like we're good to go.
Thanks again and be safe.
RE: Converter Fan Cycling
Yeah I know, but my load tester seems to have walked away. I took the converter out and blew it out with compressed air, and reinstalled it. also checked the charging output at the converter seems to be charging. Hooked everything back up put all dc lites on I could and the fan still didn't come on for about 15 sec, but then shutdown before I shut all the lites off, working like it used to.
Problem solved?, not so sure we'll see what happens this week. Thanks all for your help.
So what I've learned is that the fan is there to convert ac power to dc, and to charge your batteries, and your dc items when plugged in run solely off the converter, hence the cooling fan.
Final question,I promise, if my converter fries while dry camping I just wont be able to charge my batteries thru the converter, all my dc items willstill work, right?
RE: Converter Fan Cycling
OK I disconnected the negative battery terminal and the converter still comes on for light loads. Also multimeter tells me 13.65 volts at batteries
Converter Fan Cycling
Just got back from a dry camping trip, ran the batteries pretty low, as we always do, checked the water, which I don't do enough, and found they were low. I added water and plugged the trailer in to recharge the batteries as I normally would. It's been 4 days now that it has been plugged in and I noticed when I went in and opened the fridge the converter fan went on to supply power to the lite. I also ran the water pump and noticed the fan would cycle on and off with the pump. I'm used to the fan going on when I turn multiple dc items on but never on such low demand.
I haven't really gotten into it yet but I'm thinking my batteries are getting near the end. I have twin 6 volt delco's that are about 4 years old. Am I thinking clearly on this?
RE: Pilgrim Fifth Wheels
I own a 2004 open road 5er. Inthe fall of 2007, I had structural failure and long story short pilgrim hauled my 5er back to Indiana, fixed it and sent it back to me in may 2008. Happy ending, yes, but given the choice I sure wouldn't buy a 5er made by a company that's no longer in business. I couldn't imagine what it would have cost me to repair that unit, and I'm sure my resale has been affected by the company's demise.
The way I see it, it's a buyers market, look around there are lots of deals out there, and in the event of structural failure, which is not uncommon as I found out, most reputable mfrs. will step up and help you out. Good Luck.
BTW I got my unit back 2 mos. before they closed.
