RE: 8.1L MPG?

6-7 towing 12.5k fiver on interstate. Hit mountains and all bets are off. Slow to 55 from 65 and gain 1.5 mpg. I have 3.73s with oversize tires.

RE: Trade in 08 Suburban for older truck?

If I could, I'd keep it and pay it off. That way I'd still have a nice truck years from now, when the replacement truck would have had tons of work done. Oh, and you already took the biggest part of the depriciation hit.

RE: Does anyone else own the 2012 Attitude FL28AKLG

After my New Years trip I washed the trailer and noticed leaks from three of the street side windows. I hoped perhaps this was due to direct blasting from the hose. During today's rain I learned that at least one is leaking. Time to research how to pull and re-caulk these suckers. Keep your eyes peeled, as my trailer is just over a year old.

RE: Large 5th Wheel Towing w/ SRW 2500?

On the Dodge and GM trucks, the axles are the same from 2003 - 2011 - no m if it is a 2500, 3500 SRW, or 3500 DRW. Actually, on the GM trucks, they used the AAM 11.5" unit back to 2001.
They do have different ratings though, depending on SRW, DRW, make, and model year.
Not quite right on the GM axles. If we're talking diesels then yes, the 2500 and 3500 axles are identical. It's the AAM 11.5". This is the ONLY axle used on the 3500 series. If you drop to a gas engine with the 2500 you get a AAM 10.5" axle. The gas engine in a 3500 is still the 11.5".
For GM trucks, besides the axle difference, the rear leaf springs have an extra leaf, the wheels are wider, and the stock tires are taller on the 3500.
Not quite right. 8.1 equipped 2500 trucks got the 11.5. To the OP, I'd be looking at duallys for heavy toy haulers like you mentioned.

RE: Pro's and Cons of chevy vs ford vs dodge, diesel and gas

I would get an 06 Dodge or Chevy 3500 diesel long bed with an extended warranty. Just me.

RE: towing a 5th wheel with a 3/4 ton......now I will duck!

Tons of us tow 5ers with 3/4 tons. However, you are looking at a pretty heavy one and are limited by that engine / tranny combo. I wanted to sell one of those to myself too, but knew I wss under trucked so I opted lighter.

RE: Here it comes......... Emissions fines........

Peronally, I hope they fine any company that makes or markets any chip, programmer, OEM deletion, or otherwise altering products. Also yearly required inspections of any and all licensed for the road use vehicles and very heavy fines with pulling the driver's license of the owner of the vehicle and the vehicle tag of any vehicle that has been tampered with after OEM manufacture date. $500,000 is far too low a fine for Edge!
The law is the LAW! Now enforce it with real teeth!
I know, chips and programmers are so dangerous...I'm thinking prison time. The government should place under-hood nanny cams to ensure compliance. Anyone caught modifying their truck in any performance improving way should have their vehicle seized.

RE: How to keep dirt out?!?!

We have a very large mat, which helps. What hurts is that our trailer is a magnet for all the kids in camp. The best is when camp kids empty their boots on the sofa. I have pretty much quit fighting it. I bought it to have fun with and it is no fun kicking out kids, stressing over sand, etc. I just clean it when we get home and try to relax when camping.

RE: Just some questions on the 16 inch tire upgrade

Go back to discount and check on BFG Commercials. Mine were 1100 OTD with certs. Throw in some rims and you have peace of mind you never imagined.

RE: Looking at the "real price" for Toy Hauler

Find the same model at other dealers and see what they can do. Don't be afraid to look far and wide. The difference between dealers can be big.

RE: Does anyone else own the 2012 Attitude FL28AKLG

The charge from the truck is tiny. First make sure you have voltage on the appropriate 7 pin post coming from the truck, while it is running. Apparently some trucks require a fuse to be installed. The problem is that even when working, it does not supply much.

RE: Does anyone else own the 2012 Attitude FL28AKLG

Well, I went with BFG Commercial TA LT235/85r16s. No axle spacing issues, as I have a little over an inch and a half between the tires. Only time will tell, but they are no doubt much better than the STs they replace and I am putting my worries away. As I rolled in to the shop, not only did I have the blown out one in my truck bed, but the spare was leaking from the stem and another bubbled air through the thread in the rain. Good riddance.
Do you mind posting up a pic of the tires mounted?
Here they are...

RE: Shopping for a tow vehicle, SUV vs Truck?

Suburban 2500 for sure. Three in the back with a dog is no fun in a truck...I know this for sure. The 2500 with the 6.0 will be fine for your application. If you want to join the team, nice used 8.1s are available in some markets.

RE: Does anyone else own the 2012 Attitude FL28AKLG

Ill post a pic when I get home, but it is a brass valve up and all the way to the left when you look under the sink. If you look at where the backflush inlet is on the side of the trailer, just follow it from the wall to the underside of the trailer.

RE: Air Bags

My front is leveled up and I too have wheels and tires. I went with Firestone ride rite. Install on mine was very easy. The air valves are my new rear license plate bolts. I only tow once a month so I didn't opt for an inflation system. It works great.

RE: Does anyone else own the 2012 Attitude FL28AKLG

After a week in Glamis for new years, I dumped and flushed the black tank. When I got home, water was all over the floor of the trailer and had come from under the sink. Exhausted, I left it till yesterday, I hooked up the hose to the black flush and had DW turn on the water while my head was under the sink. Head was wet, but found the problem was with a backflow preventer. Inside the housing, a plastic valve rides on a brass pin. The pin had unscrewed from the housing, allowing the valve to wedge sideways in the housing, and water to freely squirt into the trailer. Screwed the pin back in and presto... Just in case you guys have a flood. Oh, and ill post pics of the tires when I get home.

The selling price does not have to be within three grand of the asking price. In fact, it may be much, much lower.

RE: Truck Tires for SoCal

Just going to throw it out there...Toyo Open Country M/T is an awesome Socal dirt / tow tire. The agressive tread throws some off, but with your very low miles and high dirt percentage, they are worth consideration.

RE: Fuzion Toy Hauler Verses Eclipse

When I was looking a year ago, I thought the Fuzions were put together better than the Eclipse. However, the bumper pull I looked at had the fridge curbside, to the rear of the door, which killed it for me.
