RE: Raleigh, NC RV Service/State Inspections??

In nearby Greensboro, NC there are at least 3 rv dealers and some mobile rv mechanics for rv de winterizing. They are all ramping up for the busy spring summer season now. In NC we use heavy truck shops that can accommodate large vehicle for inspections, even some large Chevy or Ford dealers who service their large trucks may be able to do your rv vehicle inspection to renew your tag. Good luck.

RE: St. George Island or Anastasia?

Try something different and enjoy the Florida panhandle. Many things to see and do in the area. See VisitFlorida.com for starters. The beaches are fantastic, much different from the Atlantic. Bugs shouldn't be an issue this early, was there in January and they were not. There are a number of Florida State Parks along the gulf coast that will be busy for the holiday. Make a reservation. Even in January the state parks were filling up nightly as we traveled along the coast.

RE: Pompano Beach Fl Campground

John Prince Park is a little further away yet a very nice facility. Otherwise Breezy Hill is ok, the snowbirds should be leaving so it shouldn't be as packed as high season.

RE: Which car dolly to buy?

If your 2012 Jetta TDI is a 6 speed manual transmission it can be towed four down. This is not noted in the owners manual for liability reasons. Call the owners tech line and speak to an engineer, they will say in theory, no problem. Neighbor tows his '12, already 40k miles, just change the oil and filters. Fantastic dinghy. Blue Ox has a nice tow bar and base plate for you.

RE: Freeze question

In the Triad of NC, we leave a mh ready to go at all times, plugged in and charging, heat set low, and for peace of mind during extended below freezing temps, a light bulb in the wet bay. Have had success with this system for years, same as many others. Have a great trip to Florida!!

RE: Faver-Dykes S.P. Florida Questions

This is a real Florida campground. It is rustic with w/e back in sites. Sandy sites and roads. Sites semi private separated by natural wilderness vegetation, palmetto palms and scrub oaks, pines, etc. Quiet. Peaceful. Landing/launch on Pellicer creek lead inland or out to tidal Matanzas river. Many opportunity's to kayak. Near, St Augustine, beaches and shopping if needed. Best suited for not so large difficult to maneuver rigs, have camped there in 32' fiver or similar mh. Would return if you like Florida the way it was.... Usually not very busy Faver Dykes SP Have fun here! Many skip this gem of unspoiled Florida.

RE: Blue ridge parkway in March

Contact some of the private campgroundsoff the parkway, they are open year round with at least limited facilities, electric only connections with access to water, dump and some laundry and bathrooms. They will be glad to see you. We have camped in the mountains year round, just need to be flexible and heed local advise, and warnings like NPS BRP road closings With a properly prepared TC you should have a lot of fun, did that years ago and had a blast!

RE: Freightliner

FL will take care of you coast to coast, that M-2 chassis is much easier to work on then ford/chev that's the way to go, the Sprinter based c's are tight to work on and a bit more costly. Good luck.

RE: Smokey Mountains New Year's Trip

Was just in that area on Thursday, 12-27. Drove thru a nice snow storm Wednesday with little sticking, was hoping for more. Check out these webcam for area weather visuals High country webcams We were shocked at all the people in both Gatlinburg and Pegion Forge, and the traffic...thought it was summer time! Lots of people traveling, many other rv'ers too! Glad you are having fun this time of year, thanks for the pictures.
